This is pretty good, definitely my favorite infinity engine project! There's alot of positive, like the atmosphere and music, graphics, levels have a nice flow to them. I wanted to say some of the biggest criticism I have of this project so BOLT can make changes to improve the game. - Light Dash MUST be changed mechanically. I can't tell you how many times this just doesn't work, and it almost never works when you have a electric shield. It's so bad I didn't even attempt to light dash when I could go past it. - The tree stage is really cool, but there needs to be a way where the player doesn't have to spend 2 minutes to go back if they miss a platform. 2 minutes of repeat time is way to much if they miss a platform. Not quite sure what can be changed about this, mabye make a slow moving air that rising the player upwards, so that you only waste like 10 seconds if you miss platforms. - In white Jungle, there's alot of areas that look like they could be part of the playable area, but is actually a death plain, especially a death trap for new players, I remember dying like 10 times cause I thought it was part of the level. - In waterfall chase, the water almost randomly will end you if you stop in certain spots, almost as if it's rubberbanding. It's usually pretty unfair. I'd just make it time based, which I think it might be based off of when you hit the white circles, but either way some of the areas need to be tweaked on the water timing. - The A button has a habit of not working in the menus with a controller - The graphic settings look like they reset, but they don't. The sliders should stay in the same spot as what the options are actually at. I'm sure some of this might be Infinity engine's limitations, But yeah besides that this is great and a ton of fun, can't wait to see future stages of this! :p
Yeah, the settings menu threw me through a loop as well. Imagine my shock when even lowering the game at medium settings at 1080p, my GPU still hovered at around 30-40 FPS. Still looks gorgeous and was still playable, but man is it demanding. While even recent games have no problem running at 60 FPS or higher on max settings. :))
Nahhh.. Tree Palace was designed to be frustrating... until someone found the skip of platforms part, which wasnt possible on intended to release version. So finally, that werehog gameplay style was brouth to use more of the envirement, increase the gameplay time and alternate the style to play, because of boost formula taking like 3 months to develop a single stage, probably the night stages took only 2 weeks, using everything done to the day stages. You might knows the only problems with Sonic Heroes: 4 stories to play, in the same 21 stages + bosses... That's not a great problem. That means that the player has 4 chances to explore the stage in 4 different styles of gameplay, team dark = speedrun hardcore try hard, team rose is like: whatever, you'll get a rank A easy by the way, team chaotix like: Man... Something I've been noticing throughout the years in the gaming market, is that companies are not putting TRUE effort in their games and the quantity of REAL quality triple A games has decreased catastrophically, yet a couple of passionate fans with programming skills and probably little to no funding are capable of producing games that not only look better, but literally overcome everything the own company has put out At the same time this situation is sad, I just love how a bunch of passionate fans can wipe the floor with a passionate game
I think it shows promise as well too. This is the future of gaming we are seeing here, these guys are the next generation of game developers and what we see them do for years to come will be nothing short of greatness I think. They expose the mediocrity of game companies today but also they have way for the future of gaming as It stands. And I cant help but be hopeful and excited about it.
whenever sonic grabs one of those hook things that drag him forward it's really jarring for it to bring him to a dead stop every time let him keep some momentum through those
This was a hold-over mechanic from the original level in Sonic Adventure 2, and likely had to be custom-built for the level rather than appearing in the base engine. It could be done better, but it might not be possible with this team.
Maybe it could work like a vine or something. Like if he runs into it with enough speed then it swings him in an upwards arc and puts him on a higher platform
All this shows is fans don't know what they want. This is just as finicky and janky as SA2, but because fans made it, people are praising it. This is just SA2 with some modern mechanics layered on top of the core game and a bit of bloom applied to the visuals. It's still a mess.
"Can't allow him to possess the emeralds" Might want to workshop that dialogue a bit... The boost muffle is also quite grating and feels like my ears are being pressurized, that effect needs to be softened. But otherwise this looks beautiful and a really fun time
@@derpedblankyy148 You don't play games to feel pain. The effect is to simulate moving so fast that sound has a hard time keeping up, and appears muffled. This is too severe for the effect to be okay. It feels like I'm at the bottom of a twelve foot deep pool
@@XerKoro_neo You are way too sensitive then. A high speed action platformer is supposed to be intense. If you can't handle intensity in a video game, this entire franchise itself is not for you.
@@21kHzBANK21kHZ There's something called frequency. It's a part of sound that dictates pitch, which is how high a sound is. The effect used here employs a particularly high frequency that hurts my ears. Just because you've destroyed your ears and can't hear it isn't my problem. Plus, different frequencies resonate differently with different people. God aren't you pathetic?
Actually I’m sure that it’s because the sound is struggling to keep up with Sonic, so I think it’s intentional to remain a constant that he runs faster then sound. I do agree when you boost on rails: it makes it way too screechy.
@Cᴏsᴍɪᴄᴀʟ Sᴘᴀᴄᴇ Not to be rude at all, but it's kind of odd to say "No, your ears are not feeling displeasure every time Sonic does a boost" when that exact thing happens everytime Sonic does a boost in this. The sound is just...really unpleasant... (To me at least, someone probably enjoys the sound of the sound barrier breaking every 6 seconds)
@Cᴏsᴍɪᴄᴀʟ Sᴘᴀᴄᴇ And that's okay that you like it lol. I'm just saying that it's not really pleasant for me, if anything, an option to reduce the "noise barrier breaking sound" and replace it with normal wind noises would be more pleasing on the ears for me
When sonic said "This tree reminds me of something" I instantly thought of the Ginso tree in Ori and The Blind Forest. Then the water started coming in, AND THEN THE MUSIC KICKED IN, I love this so much lol.
God, this is so visually stunning! And the gameplay seems so fluent! This has tugged at my heartstrings, aaa- I wish you well on this game, y'all are doing better then Sega at this point
Yes,a mess of a platformer rapped in unreal engine,I will take short and linear level design any day over this wanna be game that sucks ass and it's am in gimmick is the graphics.
Isnt this exactly all the things people complain about in modern games though? You basically hold forward? Use boost? Barely any branching paths? Etc. I mean, I dont mind but isnt this exactly the stuff fans complain about usually?
[insert funny name here] I hate the “hold forward” argument. That’s what you do in literally every single game. You hold forward to move, that’s how games work. I do miss branching paths, though.
@@peppinoandweskerfriendsfor3450 well I dont complain about it myself. I was just curious how people praise this when its literally what modern games consist of for the most part. The same things people complain about lol
[insert funny name here] I mean, the Sonic fanbase is a really diverse fanbase. A lot of Resident Evil fans share the opinion that classic horror style games and Resi 4 good Resi 5 not so much and Resi 6 bad, a lot of Mario fans believe most of the games are excellent, Sunshine being good but heavily flawed, and other fandoms like that just have similar opinions. The Sonic fanbase, however, normally have different opinions depending on who you ask. The people praising this game’s gameplay are probably not the same ones tired of the boost formula.
Top notch everything here. The faithful recreation of White Forest is great, and new levels in it's theme are so cool. The smooth transition between falling and skydiving animations is very natural and well done.
jeez this has got to be the first sonic fangame that has amazing cutscenes like this. The voice acting was stellar and not completely annoying. The gameplay almost feels like I'm looking at a real sonic game. The level design and music looks very well thought out and suits the feeling and mood of the situations in story. The infinity engine does a good job combining the adventure gameplay with the boost formula. The skydiving mechanic is a bit too weird and imo should be limited to certain parts of the levels to make it more challenging. Also the infinty engine should give sonic more animations such as idle animations and for the ranking system to make sonic look more alive.
5:11 To anyone wondering it's a soundtrack taken from Ori and the Blind Forest. Tracks are called "Climbing the Ginso Tree" and at 8:53 "Restoring the Light, Facing the Dark"
The writing for Sonic's dialogue seems off here, it's like he talks in a stern tone as a drill sergeant would. Maybe if he was written to be slightly less formal but not enough to be goofy it'll work out fine, I think Jason Griffith era Sonic managed to get that balance quite well. The game is looking solid though and is very impressive, wish all the luck to you and hope you keep up with this cool project.
Nah this is an older, more matured Sonic. Rose was murdered and died in his arms, and Knuckles lost an arm and both legs from an Eggman IED. Sonic just needs an eye patch and a big piece of shrapnel stuck in his forehead, so he can be "punished sonic"
The level that starts at 5:00 is honestly a true masterpiece, it’s like the perfect blend of adventure/exploring that you get with knuckles yet also the speed and reliability that you come to know and expect with sonic - also the graphics and ambient music make for the perfect atmosphere. Hats off to whoever made this game and Godspeed to you, thank you for the experience.
What would you do if you sitting comfortably on your couch playing your favourite Sonic game but as Soon as Sonic opened his mouth his voice from the Dorkly parodies came out?
Hey wait a minute, in the flooding tree segment the music is from Ori and The Blind Forest, when you restore an element it plays as you escape, conveniently in Ori the first time you hear it is the water element, in a tree as well, honestly White jungle gives me that Ori and The Blind Forest feel and I love it
@@dreadpiraterobertsnumba5 Sonic Adventure 2 (or at least the Xbox edition) as far as I can tell wasn't "bugged to shit" Adventure had a hell of a lot of bugs but all I can remember from SA2 was camera bugs
Really impressive so far. I really like the improvements... Although I found it really sad that anyone can make a decent Sonic content but Sega and Sonic Team -.-

This is honestly real close to a genuine Sonic game, the way you rebuilt the stages in such an accurate way yet it felt so fresh to see Sonic go through it? Damn. Plus the cutscenes, the music, the ambience and the voice actors, you've gone far and beyond on this project and it deserves more recognition! Thank you and the team behind this, it's INCREDIBLE!
the animation and models are clean AF; not sure how i feel about that spammable boost mechanic, though. the inside the tree helps to give it a far less linear feel then the original white jungle stage; definitely a cool idea. also, i love the music. the chaos control mechanic with Shadow is pretty cool too.
The title screen gives me heavy Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction vibes and I love it. Overall this looks fucking awesome I wish sonic team had people like you.
Yo I was thinking the same thing! Not just the title either, but also the gameplay. The sense of wonder and excitement when I played Tools of Destruction and thought "Now THIS is next gen Ratchet & Clank!", I got the same feeling watching this. It felt like that same transition/upgrade. It gave me that same feeling again. That same wonder and excitement. It looked like a true improvement on every element I loved from the previous game (though in Tools of Destruction's case, it had some glitches), and the graphical/physics improvement was the same as what they did with Tools of Destruction. This is so awesome...
Wait what the hell this is beautiful! Sure it isnt perfect and can be improved on in a variety of ways, but I couldnt keep my mouth closed in awe while watching this! Amazing work!!!
The level design and gameplay are absolutely breathtaking. I'm absolutely in love with this project and wish it the best! The scarcity of rings in the segments intended to be slower contrasted with the quantity of boost meter refills in the water chase segment are proof of some seriously clever game design. This is what I want to see in a Sonic game.
When a Sonic fan can make a better game than the actual company in 19:51 ... *Insane,* dude, insane work. The atmosphere and the graphics were just beautiful. Really hope to see you working for SEGA in the future, because they seriously need some creative talent in their company right now.
Buzz does Gaming well if you want to be technical I think sonic unleashed was supposed to be sonic adventure 3. I forgot how I knew that but basically they wanted to travel all over the world for the 3rd game.
This game is super well done, the stages are entirely in 3D unlike Sonic Forces, they are very pretty in terms of look and the cutscenes are really very well done, I even took more pleasure in playing the stages of this game that at stages in Sonic Forces ...
@@selfishbeats What does that mean? There is little substance to the levels. The first one is a straight line, the second one is a confusing mess, the third one is boost to win.
There's still definitely a lot if refinement that needs to go into this (timing, audio mixing, level direction, animation, UI, and honestly I could go on), but for a fan creation this is *incredibly* impressive!! I can't wait to see the progress and future projects this team works on
This is absolutely AWESOME. I love getting to see the "in between" story in some of these zones that the game didn't originally have! Cohesive story is great.
Omg how has nobody made a full game like this it is absolutely brilliant! Everything down to the voices, music, gameplay, and it also looks like a game meant for everyone not just kids. There's sooo much potential with this including the tree palace stage. That's a new stage that looks so beautifully done. Absolute class!
The transition from the cutscene to level at the beginning was so epic. It would’ve been even cooler if the scene was seamlessly went from sonic running to the start of the level. But otherwise super cool great work!
I love how the fans care way more than Sega does about the history of this franchise that they make an amazing prototype of a story heavy based Sonic game,AND they reference Sonic X in it without it being cringy or forced lol
Yeah! It looked too awesome that I were goin' to think it was really made by own Sega and not made for fans. I wanna know when this game will be active for download because I'm really interested a lot to play since you can play with Sonic, Shadow and even Silver as I saw on video gameplay.
@Taylah Taylah Fair enough, but what your saying would just make sega a bad father who thinks giving his kid a shet tone of money is the only thing he has to do to secure his future, jokes aside tho, your argument is respectable, but i said fans care way more than sega does about history and the lore of the series, and judging by the games for the past 10 years i think its the truth.
@Taylah Taylah Uhh? Sonic Team didn't put billions into it, they put some millions into it, and MADE many millions from it, and they know they can put out almost anything and it will turn a profit. It's a company. The decision-makers aren't fans, they're jaded executives and shareholders, and they're not your friends, they're not fans of the series, they don't have pride in their product (except maybe a few rare exceptions), they're business-people pushing a product they don't understand to consumers that they don't respect. This is why it's been blunder after blubber, critical failure after failure, wild swings at weird gimmicks and totally different tones (compare Heroes or Colors to SA2). Firing beloved musicians and voice actors. It's a damn company, not an individual that poured their blood, sweat, tears and personal savings into a labor of love. You know. Like fans do.
More seriously, that look really well made for an fan made especially the 3rd world are really good to me. ( because the sensation of being in a huge world with the choice of being stylish without getting hurt and the "contemplation" of the stage falling apart is well made, you really get into this world ).
Looks incredible for a fan game! Movement looks fun, love the callbacks to SA2, and that 1st song was AMAZING! I will say tho, my only complaint is the boost audio morphing. It makes sense, but it also makes Tails unintelligible, Sonic too quiet somehow, and the rings at an ear-piercing frequency. Needs some fine-tuning. Excited to see where this project goes!!

What 3D Sonic SHOULD be like. Great visuals, no glitches to be seen, High-speed gameplay (Mostly), awesome music... everything a sonic game SHOULD be. Sonic Team should take notes.
@Jay Talents You are correct, but I just think they could learn a thing or two, or be reminded of what they made, as the recent sonic games are trash, and the fans can make this demo with only a fair amount of effort. I just think Sonic Team needs to be reminded what good sonic games are again, so we don't have another 06 or Rise of Lyric, but instead another Colors or Adventure 2 when another game eventually comes out.
@SonicRaymanFan 345 The time it took to make 1 game isn't an excuse. We got better games in less than half that time. Lazy game design is still lazy game design no matter how long you have been given to complete it
@SonicRaymanFan 345 Is it a bad thing to beg for a game with decent level design and a decent physics engine? I'm not saying another adventure game, I'm saying a game that is actually good and not just meh. Being fine with rushed and mediocre games is the reason why Sonic Team keep giving us them because the blind fans will take it either way
Yeah because i hoped that Forces game is going to be as good as Generations was... 😢Sadly i didn't even finished the game and lost my will of getting back to it.. I tried to give it a chance but.... it's far from games and etc i used to love
Wow, this is actually really cool. I love the details you can see Tails flying in a plane with Sonic. As well as how the music gets quiter as he boosts because you're going faster then sound.
Man, this feels real. I love the soundtrack, it feels like something from Modern Sonic. Also, it's pretty nice how it is looking. So elaborated. The levels are a bit disorienting. Nevertheless, I commend you with this great effort. I never felt so hyped since Sonic Heroes/Colors.
I’ve just realised the music comes from ori and the blind forest and that’s why this whole level feels so familiar. The tree level also looks similar to the tree from the game where everything starts to flood in the end and you have to get out in time
THIS IS SUCH A COOL PROJECT! My crit at this point would be, the energy shield is distractingly bright and static against the dark background of the level like this, it makes it hard to see where you're going in some spots. The outside rainy part of the level in general does seem a little dark too. The area is lit by the torches looks really good but then a lot of the rest just looks kind of flat. A couple more pops of appropriately placed lighting or color difference would help Define the track in the darker sections or pulley handles and guide the player more, something really necessary in a game like Sonic where you're going so fast where decisions must be made in a split second. The inside of the tree is such a cool addition! Love the colors and mystic feel. The clear blue platforming sections kinda gave me anxiety 😂 Jumping soooo far over nothingness and stopping on a dime. And jumping to hit those tiny bounce rings. Maybe a few things to target in that section would help. I do appreciate the save point after the blue section though.
Little did we know that GUN was actually targeting Tails for opening fire at another vehicle, using an unlicensed vehicle, flying without a pilot's license, and underage driving.
That's the problem- they cannot sell the game to be purchased- since that is violating Sega's copyright. Unlike Nintendo - Sega is pretty friendly towards their fans and okay with fan-made games and movies. However their red line is where people will try to monetize on Sonic franchise. The project funding is the only way they can get some money while making the fa game.
12:35 Hold up, he can use CHAOS CONTROL? Oh, that is sick. Finally, Shadow being used to his full potential. All we're missing is short range teleportation mechanics implemented in the game. 16:27 Wait, was that teleportation animation? If so, awesome

This was a hold-over mechanic from the original level in Sonic Adventure 2, and likely had to be custom-built for the level rather than appearing in the base engine. It could be done better, but it might not be possible with this team.

This has a triple A feel to it dude honestly it’s so beautiful and the actions look like they flow so smoothly
9:30 Ori and the Blind forest Soundtrack?
And actually maybe the level where water is filling up the tree and you have to escape
I think they definitely got that part from ori
tfw anyone, with enough passion and practice, can make a good Sonic game.
16:44 - When your mum wants to give you a stern talking to...
lol
The boost audio effect makes me feel like I'm in a submarine 200ft deep.
makes me feel like i broke the sound barrier, what sound effect do you think matches that in real life? like a jet engine?
The speed, the stylish flips, the free falling, the length of the stages, the intense music!! This is sonic!
Little did we know that GUN was actually targeting Tails for opening fire at another vehicle, using an unlicensed vehicle, flying without a pilot's license, and underage driving.
lmao
Lollll
Stuff like this deserve a Kickstarter to fund into an existing game we can purchase because this is what we need.
For a fan game?
9:04 wait a minute...that's a theme from ori! You have good tastes
I thought it was adventure stage clear
Do you know the name of the track?
@@dingodyno9016 If i recall correctly it should be "Restoring the Light, Facing the Dark."
@@Mad-Box thanks a lot, appreciate it
YES I’m not the only one
12:35 Hold up, he can use CHAOS CONTROL? Oh, that is sick. Finally, Shadow being used to his full potential. All we're missing is short range teleportation mechanics implemented in the game.
16:27 Wait, was that teleportation animation? If so, awesome
He can also use chaos spear, and chaos blast.
@@What-wm2fu In the game?
I saw White Jungle and was like YAS
saame I love the tree one to.
White Jungle needs more love
This is so amazing! I love the models, the animation, the colors, and the music! I also love how much passion sonic fans are willing to put in projects like these.
I haven't seen a Sonic fan game in a while and ???
This is so good, I got chills watching the White Jungle gameplay and almost felt like crying. QvQ
The dialogue and audio quality could use a bit of tweaking, but overall it very much feels like a Sonic story! I was so immersed, haha
