    Can i ask you some question my dear? Is your company registered in South Africa or foreing owned?
    I'm asking because my apllication was declined 3 times. Yes my company is registered. Where is your company registered? South Africa or elsewhere? ❤❤

      I have managed to sell almost all of my stock. However with my current location I struggle with shipping to to Takealot DCs. The Courier Guy recently canceled my shipment and never refunded me

    Thanks for your transparency. I am just too scared of being in the negative. The fulfilment and success fees seem to chow more than the R460. I started selling last month and I paid quite a bit with courier fees and also printing stationery. To me it looks like only high volume sales will make you see the money. Otherwise if you don't price right for the platform you might be on the negative easily.

      @@thulithwala that's true but I also think it's a great lesson to learn. I once bought an item for 900 something (it was 180 and the rest was shipping - long story) and then I felt like charging over 1k wasn't going to work so I charged 750, it was gone in 3 days and left me on the red after the fees and I had to pay the 460 out of pocket. I almost closed my shop same day because I didn't expect me to cost me money. But it taught me a lot about pricing and now I've priced to my advantage. Another disadvantage i have is that I live in a remote town so shipping things to me or finding suppliers is ridiculously expensive and this taught me not to go after popular products- I have to find unique ones with minimal competition because I have to cover the burden of high shipping costs. In the first month and a half, I didn't make money ( the month after that I made R409) and had to keep it so that the subscription could be paid. And then shortly after that I made 500+ that was completely min and eventually I started making a consistent profit. It won't be overnight but you'll get there. Keep adding products and test new ones often ,also keep the festive seasons in mind. Those things be goldmines!

      Ooh gosh tell me about stationery fees and courier fees.But let's keep on pushing hopefully will sell more and don't feel these fees 😂

      That's what I have noticed as well. You need to be strategic about the products you sell and for me, the niche I picked is too competitive so I have to run ads
      I think a good strategy is to have high ticket products and market small products through them, since they have high profit margin

    Thank you for sharing this Jabi, what else do you pay takealot per month? Is it just only the subscription fee?

    • @onthegoodsideco
      @onthegoodsideco  4 місяці тому +2

      @@moneymondays Hi👋 Yes, it's the 460 subscription free and then it's the 2 fees per sale (depends on product) and then they also charge for storage fee if your product is slow moving (highest I have is R4.60 and another is R2.30) so it's cheaper to keep the product there than to get it back to you (mainly because I'm in nelspruit - might be easier if you are near the warehouse)

    • @nkhensanisithole9910

      Yes storage fee is per product(u only for slow selling products) then each product u pay fees twice which is success fee and fullfilment fee.
