I've heard this story before, it creeps me out and triggers my anxiety, lol. I don't know how anyone would be able to fall asleep to it but looks like people do so must just be me 🤷♀️. But I like all your other mystery stories, the father brown one is one of my go to bed time stories :).
This is my question, as well. Why don’t people write mysteries that don’t involve murder or violence? I think there are some mysteries written without them. I don’t know if the mystery hear that he is reading has those things or not but I know a lot of mysteries contain those elements and they aren’t relaxing. A mystery without violence would be much more relaxing.💗

Yes I used to the versions without music. sometimes there are people who do ask for too much, but complete understand why Carol is making the request. So thanks for the defence but it’s really ok and no bother.

Yes please. A compilation of stories without music will be very welcome. I have tinnitus and background music on all programmes where narration is key is, for me, very distracting, and unfortunately increasingly more prevalent on many programmes and films. Your voice and speed of delivery (mostly) is so well suited to story telling, nothing else is needed.
@@SleepCove I agree with what Jill said. I have a sleeping disorder and the background music actually keeps me awake so I can only listen to the stories without music. I would greatly appreciate more uploads without background music. Please upload more soon! They're great!!! Since you don't have to add anything to the voice over.. I feel like it would actually be less work to make and upload the videos without music, no?
@@jillg151same. I have a sleeping disorder and the ones with music keep me awake, but the ones without music and just the voice over help me get and stay to sleep. I wish he would upload more without background music. I play the ones he does have over and over.... and over. I'm just ready for some new ones lol.

I never noticed that there was music until I read this! I wonder if the people sensitive to the music are extremely talented in music. How interesting that it never registered with me, but I slept through the story so many times that I had to replay it in the morning. Thank you! Both entertainment and a restful night without worry.

I fell asleep, what happened?
I'm very familiar with this story because I've listened to it hundreds of times being read by Greg Wagland, who does an INCREDIBLE job! So being as familiar as I am with the story, I'm curious as to why the text in this version has so many differences. There are words that have been added and/or changed; parts of some sentences have been completely omitted, and in other places there are extra phrases added in. I also noticed that the narrator here usually pronounces the son's name "Gip" with a hard "G", but at least once pronounces it with a soft "G" like in "Jip". (as a little side piece of trivia, H.G. Wells named the young boy in this story after his own son, George P. or G.P. Wells, who was known to most as Gip.)
Does anyone happen to know if there is more than one version of the text? Even the PDF that I have of the story matches the Greg Wagland version so I'm just curious. And I want to clarify that I absolutely love listening to Christopher Fitton and I'm so grateful to him for all of his hard work and this channel, so no disrespect is intended by my post! I listen to this channel multiple times per week!
