- Full tour of this wheelchair accessible campervan (built specifically for our customers needs and ability) that i completed back in 2020!
The idea behind this build was to create a stylish and comfortable interior, keeping in mind all of the necessary features to accommodate Dave and jades needs. that included a flip up bench seat to free up floor space, a CoolMatic CRD 50 Pull-Out Drawer Fridge/Freezer to eliminate the need to bend down to see what's in there, a raised wheel arch/shower seat and of course the wheelchair lift and hand controls for driving. The lift and hand controls where installed prior to it getting to me and actually, this particular lift has since been replaced with another style as it caused a few problems being so heavy and low to the floor. check out '@wheelchairandwanderlust on Instagram to follow along with Dave and Jades adventures, They're both great people!

I love the build. Great job. Can you show a video on how the person in the wheelchair can access the bathroom? I can't see how the wc will fit. Is the bed too high?
Access to that shower is a little sketchy, how do you transfer from a wc?
It's really nice, but I ask me how come thr wheelchair driver in thr shower and toilet and bed? And how transfer to the driver's seat?
A nice van build . With the exception of the powerlift this van is no where accessible. The restroom/shower? The bed? Not a chance.
What a beautiful conversion. The fit and finish is superb. I’d love to have this exact van, but clearly it wouldn’t work for me as a quadriplegic. So I decided to checkout the owner’s channel, wheelchair and wanderlust, to see how they make the van work for them. Charming couple with interesting story as to how they arrived at Tom’s shop for their third van conversion. The most interesting bit was to see that Tom’s client uses a wheelchair for mobility, but he can also stand. So now all the ??? marks regarding accessibility were answered. This van works well for the owner/user. I’d love to give Tom the challenge of making a van work for a quad because I’m sure he could do it and the craftsmanship and aesthetics would be outstanding. But I’ll have to wait for him to open a shop in California.

Finally found your channel. Another great build. I love the beautiful scenery wrap and everything on the inside. The couple will be very happy. Again, excellent job on the wiring layout. No sloppy wiring to be seen!

You really packed everything in. I've been trying for days. The layout is the key. The bed is smaller. How long is it front to back?
What is the wheelchair lift brand? Did you get that or do you know where it came from? I need one for the back of my ambulance conversion. Whatever you can offer would be extremely helpful to me.
The shower toilet is extremely narrow. Don’t see a wheelchair in there.

How much is the lift/ will it hold a 450 lb power chair?
so at resale what will the ad say? maybe should have said modified or built for type of disablity or injury like double amputee. so you get positve or negative feedback on how to do the next modification once upon a time i did not know what i needed for my modications but 30 years later i do. i well aware that everybody"s disability is differnt. i also realizethat a disabled person especially a newly disabled person will make a mistake and buy someting that says wheelchair accessible that is not really
I don’t know what the resale ad will say. It won’t be me selling it. As I said, it is a wheelchair accessible van, custom made for my client… that uses a wheelchair. It shouldn’t matter to you, or anyone else what I call it, it’s not available for anyone else. It’s my clients van and they asked me to make them a “wheelchair accessible van”

The wheelchair user can probably still stand or walk, how else can he get into bed and take a shower or get into the driver's seat? The van is not practical for someone who cannot walk or stand. But the van is very nice, have nice color ❤❤
If you're a full time wheelchair user, the wet room is not useable. I'm not sure how someone who's very thin, like a 14" seat, could fit in the opening, especially with the door not fully opening. If you make it inside, which is almost impossible if you're a spinal cord traveler, there is nothing to hold onto to maintain stability while moving. This can is NOT accessible. If you're in a chair, you can't get in the wet room! Make the main bed narrower and the wet room wider! Did you have someone in a wheelchair actually try everyone in the van? Great intent not not functional or useable for a wheelchair user.
this van was purpose built for a customer who uses a wheelchair. they came to me, discussed the options, the sizes, and all of the features that would work for him. it is accessible. every disability is different and what works for one person might not work for another. thats just the way it goes. i took my guidance from the person it was built for. go and tell him its not right!

@@user-hf5bz3lw6dI want one too, and I have the idea of having a drawer table in the kitchen that you can pull out and put the sink and hob in, and once you've done everything, you put it back in the cupboard. At the back there is a seating area that can be converted into a bed, the toilet can be pulled out from underneath and the shower tray is sunk into the floor at ground level, the shower is mounted on the wall in the tall cupboard or in the corner of the bed. If you want to take a shower, sit on the toilet, which serves as a shower seat; if you don't need it, push the toilet back into the bed. You can also install a lifting bed above the seating area, for which you have to build the seating area low, 30 cm and 20 cm cushion, then lower the cushion so that the lifting bed can be lowered, which you can then change to 50 cm, the advantage of the lifting bed, you can let it go through a large window on the roof, so that you can enjoy the view above. There are other possibilities. A heavy-duty elevator at the back can pull the Hubett outside at the same time and has a terrace where you can sit outside, there is also a video about it.
Not perfect for a wheelchair. Use one by my self and life in the van. Cabinets you can’t drive under with your wheelchair and are not comfortable.
having a wheelchair lift at a rv door does not make accesibble rv . Shower sucks big time.,L shape counter? what the hell. aggarvating for a wheelchair. you need to stay in that rv 4 a week and not use your legs . and take the rv where there disabled people@ before you ever build another handicap rv
This van was built for/with my client, who believe it or not, uses a wheelchair. Everyone’s disabilities vary and this van was designed specifically around my client’s capabilities. Don’t be so quick to make judgments, you’ll make a fool of yourself.
