Each year my wife and I find that "awesome person/group" to follow their journey on the PCT, and you two were the undisputed best of class this year. You both are made for the outdoors and we are looking forward to your future adventures. Also I heard there were some rather pathetic snowflakes on some PCT Facebook group that were saying you should of left the squirrel and acting like general judgmental clowns, but you 100% did the right thing. Honestly, what a way to cap an already emotional finale by also doing something so touching. We need more hikers like you two in the world. Keep up the great work!
Squirrel will become king of the mts with his tales of journey and survival. He will lead the squirrels with honor and integrity, his negotiations with humans to save the forest will be remembered for all of time.
Incredible trip and videos! Thanks for helping me relive some of my young days hiking Desolation Valley on the west side of Lake Tahoe back in the 60’s.
Great conclusion to the best thru hike series in 2022. Format was spot on and you were both excellent at conveying the experience to us in such a natural way. Delighted “this isn’t the end, there’s more to come”. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Congratulations on finishing the pct. I was following Julia and Cory when I saw y’all. Have enjoyed your journey and look forward to watching more in the future. So glad the squirrel 🐿 is doing good.
Congratulations guys, I sure enjoyed watching your videos. You guys are such a breath of fresh air, always smiling and happy. Thank you for letting us tagalong and your adventure and I look forward to following many more
Well…there’s some new mountain top Gurus graduating in 22, what did you learn? Yeah…show up. You did that didn’t you. My 1st time on the PCT was 1976 the gear has changed dramatically but the soul of it is the same, you displayed soul out there, you showed up. Nice job but since this is a way of life I expect to see more, much more, looking forward to watching you 2 move forward as that’s the only direction you seem to go. I salute your magnificent effort.
Congrats! You’ve walked from Mexico to Canada and then some. Special congrats to moriah for hiking it 1.5 times! You really packed out quite the taco party. Salsa and guacamole and tortillas with all those topping weigh a lot. But I guess for the short mileage days it felt worth it. You got picture postcard weather. It was the heatwave that brought out the bugs but also the epic alpine views. Your baby squirrel 🐿 is so cute. What soft hearts you have. Big congratulations. It’s such a different mindset you need to stay mentally on trail. You killed it! Good job
A powerful last video. Having shared your adventure vicariously through your content from the start, I must say that I’ve attached to you and those you’ve hiked with. Thank you for sharing this amazing achievement. Congratulations and best wishes. I look forward to what might come next!
From day one the haters were putting you down for the miles, the chair, oh the chair, you addressed them head on and showed them by your consistently high milage that you were more than able and well prepared for this mammoth thru-hike. I will miss the chair put downs, I wished you had brought it back for the last day Moriah and sat there at the Monument in it. The fact that you were able to lay down the miles you did despite the post holing was amazing. Thank you for the epic music/videography. I've come to expect our weekly drop and looked forward to it. The smiles, the positivity and the simple act of caring you have shown a squirrel go to show the people you truly are. You can't watch a vlog for 5 months and not get the measure of the people. You are a great couple and you make a great Team and you both have kind hearts. You can see some people and wonder what holds them together but you two were destined for each other. I know as this has drawn to an close and you put away your backpack and look forward to your days at home you have to know what affect your achievement has had on others. I've started hiking the Ethel Challenge which is 95 Peaks in The Peak District National Park England. Whilst these hikes are no where near the miles you have completed or the elevation I want you to know that at 60 you have inspired me to get out there and enjoy what we have in our back yard. Without your channel I doubt that I would have started this and I've wanted to do it for some time. My first Peak I failed. 2 x covid has left its mark and whilst I remember pre-covid walking 12 miles a day around Paris or Rome I couldn't even manage 3 miles. Tenacity, so to encourage me some more I vloged it and posted my failure. I posted it to remember where I started. But without watching you guys I would definitely still be in my chair contemplating it. I am sure your 76 miles is a FKT Sam and I'm sure it will stand for some time to come. Each year I have followed 5 thru-hikers on the PCT and each year one stands out head and shoulders from the rest. This year it is you two. From the shy vloging at the start the music/videography's quality and your confidence has increased in leaps and bounds. I know that this is not the end and as sure as eggs is eggs you will both become Triple Crowners in the not too distant future. I look forward with anticipation to future vlogs of the cabin, rock climbing and weekend hikes and should this channel increase the way it is going then I'm sure you will be able to make a job out of this should you so desire. But if fun becomes a job is it still fun? I'm sure you could make it so. I believe I speak for most when I say that your subscribers will be here when you drop your next vlog. We aren't going anywhere. I know that you are officially PCT thru-hikers as you hiked all the open sections but have you thought of one day mopping up the miles that you have missed through no fault of your own? I know in the back of my mind I'd be thinking 'I've just got to do it'. What's next? A Documentary? I've seen others before make their thru-hike into a Documentary and I know this would be time consuming but I for one would definitely watch that. Lastly, but probably not, do you know the total miles hiked? I know there are a lot of non PCT miles in the Peaks you have climbed and the Blue Blazing you had to do to Towns and back. But do we have a final total? One last thing, something I should have led with...... Sam and Moriah, PCT Class of 2022, Congratulations on completing such an epic thru-hike!!! You two are simply amazing and I will definitely miss the weekly vlogs. Now put your feet up for a bit, relax, unwind, visit family and friends, have some 'you time', enjoy life and when you are ready to vlog again we will be here waiting for you. This has been an epic adventure for you and I'd like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for permitting us to live vicariously through your journey. Sam, Moriah, Congratulations and see you next time x.
Thanks for coming along with us Chris!! so happy that we were able to provide some inspiration and entertainment for everyone. Your comments have been so kind and positive and it inspires us to keep the videos coming. To answer a few questions... I would not doubt if we came back to link the footsteps along the way, the only drawback is that the area we missed is a burn zone and its not totally inspiring to return to an area like that. However, the remainder of the OCT is definitely on our radar and if we are already in Oregon, might as well link those missed miles on the PCT. According to my watch the total miles hiked in the last 5 months while recording activities (not including walking in town) was just over 3000 miles. I think we got our moneys worth!!! Pretty soon here we will start creating a documentary version of this blog. Im assuming it will be a big project but will be so cool to have a final product to look back on (without having to watch endless vlogs) For now we are off to the final 150 miles of the AT. We look forward to sharing it with you and keeping in touch as we continue to share our adventures Sam and Moriah
@@sam.and.moriah 3000 miles, wow. Can't wait for the AT 150 mile vlog. I understand about the burn sections and you never know when it will open as I believe one section has been closed at least 2 years running. No need to reply. I've got my subscription on all notifications so hopefully see you two soon.
🥂🍻 ☕ I've loved following along. Thank you. Glad the squirrel 'section hiker' made it to safety 🥜🥜🥜. I thought it might upstage you at the monument 😆. I hope the future brings you happiness and some awesome adventures.
I'm not crying, you're crying! Stoked you made it, gutted that it's over (for now), hoping for more adventures in the future. You made a tough spring less bleak, thank you
It was nice to see you finish with a smile and a fiesta. Really enjoyed accompanying you two on your amazing adventure. Five years later made it even more special and I'm sure there are many more challenges in your future. I salute anyone who attempts this hike but especially those who complete it. Hike on!
Thank You Sam and Moriah for the excellent series of 2022 PCT narrative videos you two have created. Informative, instructional and well presented, the videos will be a font of information for those seeking PCT thru hiker perspective.
Sam and Moriah, thank you both so much for taking us all on this amazing journey. I have followed your unfolding adventure from day 1 and it has been an honour to share it with you, albeit from my armchair in the UK. What you have both achieved is incredible in both the physical effort and mental strength needed and I stand in awe of it. I will miss my morning 15 minutes with you each day but I look forward to what you do next. Thank you both - now go take a rest for goodness sake !!!!!
Thanks for the journey. I started following to see what the 3 sections I would be doing would be like, if there was still snow on a section in S. Cal and how the mosquitos were in H in Washington we just did, as well as the burn areas north of Sierra city, and ended up watching most of them. I watched several last year for preview of the sections and yours were the best I’ve seen, great quality, even when cast to our TV, so well done! Congratulations!
Amazing journey! Thank you for taking me with you. I’ve lived this journey vicariously with you both. You’ve made this trail accessible to me. I will attempt this one year very soon hopefully with the same energy and enthusiasm as you both.
It was awesome to watch all the videos from the beginning down by Mexico and also the extra Oregon coast trail you guys did. Thanks for sharing the journey.
It has been so much fun hiking along with you. Thank you for your great attitude and inspiration! You both are in a class all your own! Thanjavur for saving Herminous! You def did the right thing. I loved it when Sam said he crawled back into the Fanny pack. He wanted to live! You made that possible! I sure will miss watching you on the PCT and look forward to your future adventures!! Sure love you both!!♥️
Congratulations! I started following you two when I saw you with Snot Rocket. Great videos! Your trip looked so nice. When the temps were bad, when the mosquitos were bad, when the weather was bad you guys always had a smile on your face. You're both such Bad Asses! I am no longer able to hike but I will follow you on future adventures. You rock! geek, A.T. '90 & '02, PCT '08
Massive congrats to you guys! What an incredible accomplishment! We have watched every episode from the beginning to the end and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Thanks for taking the time to share your journey with us and we look forward to following your next adventure. Also, YAY for Herminous!🐿
Following your amazing journey helped to keep me motivated while getting in shape for my first backpacking trip in ~30 years- just returned to NH from High Sierras last week - so incredible. And have started planning for JMT next year. Wish your time in the Sierra's had not been so brutal (post-holing) because it is an incredible awe-inspiring place. Thank you for sharing your lives and being so inspiring.
Congratulations on such an incredible experience and journey . You guys are certainly an inspiration. And thanks for taking care of the baby squirrel which will now have a second chance. God bless.
Congratulations on a great finish. Thanks for bringing us along with you as well, I'm sure it's not easy to keep the videos going when you're doing marathon miles everyday, but we do appreciate it. Can't wait to see what's next.
Congratulations you guys!! What a walk, eh?! Well done! You two are pretty cool...best wishes with everything you want to do next! Also....a BIG thanks for sharing your journey! The scenery was amazing!
Wow, congratulations on successfully completing your trek from Mexico to Canada on the PCT. Thank you for sharing the journey with us and with some four-legged critters - Truman and Hermanus - along the way. You’re the best!
Bravo.......your not done......Canada........then Yukon........note the mosquitos are the national bird......helicopters.......they have clouds.....light all day and night......hats off........cheers
Hi Guys Bill here from Denver (yes, Jim is fake name)! I've been watching you since Campo last Spring that seems like forever! Great videos towards the end, and still love the daily maps. Maybe put a video of the whole trail of the maps? Slow it down so we don't get dizzy...😆. I just did trail magic yesterday in the rain on the Colorado Trail and met some great hikers! It felt great to help hikers. It was funny to see one's excitement to receive a can of Pringles! It was trail gold! Congratulations on your success of the PCT! I look forward to seeing more in the future...we all thank you for a fun time on the PCT this summer! Even Rocky the squirrel will live on to greet future PCT hikers! Happy Trails!! 🎉😎
Thanks for sharing your journey on the PCT. I looked forward to seeing all your updates though out from start to finish. Thanks again, can't wait for your next adventure!
Loved following you guys. Thanks for the positive attitudes and the thrill of being out there experiencing the PCT with you. Best of luck with whatever is up next for you.
Yay! Congratulations! Thanks so much for taking us with you on this journey. I'm glad Herminous is going to be okay, and a little sad Rocket and her boyfriend couldn't finish with you all. Lyla was headed to do the CDT this year as well, right? Best of luck to her!
Hi, Guys! Great final vid to your adventure!! And, yes, I was wondering about the ground squirrel... Thanks for the update! Crazy... I was having bandwidth problems this morning, but very shortly after the vid started, it recovered and I was able to view at 720p!! Amazing scenery up there!! Again, Thanks for Sharing!!
Congratulations 🥳. What an achievement. The scenery was beautiful. It must have been hard leaving the trail and being in a different place every day. Hopefully little Herminos is doing well. That was a really special gift to give something back to the trail by giving that little guy a chance. Enjoy ‘normality’ until your next adventure.
Your adventure has been so inspiring to me. I live near a section of PCT. I'm not far from the Deep Creek Hot Springs. I had just started hiking the section just past Wrightwood around March this year. I began to meet all the through hikers and have been so inspired by all of you, but of course not all of them have UA-cam channels. Anyway, you all have inspired me to want to try to do it as well. I don't yet know how, but I have to figure out a way. I want to thank you for your videos and sharing your PCT life with the rest of us. Best wishes...
Thank you so much for the great views of the North Cascades. Followed ya'll the whole way. I lived in Okanogan County for 25 years. Such a magical forest and mountains. I spent many years working forest service contracts in that whole area; everything from planting to logging to timber stand improvement to trail maintainence. Hope to follow you guys on whatever comes next. Cheers
Thank you for sharing your journey. I've followed you the whole way, and am so impressed with your mileage each day. I also love your tracking software, and have added it to my hikes. Congratulations and thanks again. Class of 2025
A great hike in the bag for you! Enjoyed your live stream last night! Even though I rarely message, I have been following you since almost the beginning. Looking forward to whatever is next for you. Safe travels home.
Congratulations on completing epic hike. Had to jump forward to watch this as a good month behind on watching your videos. (Following too many hikers on too many trails.)
Awesome, guys!!! Great accomplishment. Quite frankly, from way back around Kennedy Meadows (south), I just knew that barring a disaster (like a forest fire or serious injury), you were gonna make it. I'm following some others, but you guys are the best, unlikely the others will make it. I'll keep watching for your next hike.
Thanks!

Wow, congratulations on successfully completing your trek from Mexico to Canada on the PCT. Thank you for sharing the journey with us and with some four-legged critters - Truman and Hermanus - along the way. You’re the best!
Congratulations ! Loved following you guys along the way. Sending love from Manchester, NH !

Congratulations you guys are awesome.
Congratulations, and best of luck on all future endeavors.
Congratulations I've been following your adventures from the beginning.
We shared some of the trail I just finished my sobo J M T August 14th.
Nice work!
Congratulations on a great achievement!
Congratulations! You are living my dream! Hope to see more adventures
Congrats! You guys rocked the PCT.
Thanks for sharing your adventures
You bet!
Congrats to the team. Best wishes for ur future. I’ll miss u folks. All the best
Class of 2025
Thank you! Good luck on your 2025 hike. Get psyched!!!
Congratulations 🍾 😁 thank you for sharing your hike with us❤️👍🙌🙌👏👏
A great hike in the bag for you! Enjoyed your live stream last night! Even though I rarely message, I have been following you since almost the beginning. Looking forward to whatever is next for you. Safe travels home.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your journey through the videos. Really happy you made it! Also, how cute is Hermanous??
So amazing, you guys!
Congratulations on completing epic hike. Had to jump forward to watch this as a good month behind on watching your videos. (Following too many hikers on too many trails.)
Congrats on your finish❣
20 to 30 miles a day, back to back. That's just massive.
Well done you two!
Congratulations! I loved following y’all and can’t wait to see wants next!
