Regarding whether or not Sandi should assist in the birthing process and whether she assists 'too much' as some say, Sandi is the one in 'the room' where the action is happening. She's the one with all the information and is best suited to make decisions. Anyone not in 'the room' doesn't have all the information Sandi has (because they're not there!) and shouldn't be telling her what she 'should' do. Additionally, she has lots of experience at doing what she's doing. She knows what works for her in her barn for her sheep.

I watch a musician on YT and he says this all the time, his comment section is always full of people who think they know better than him about something he is clearly very good at (lots of chart topping songs, millions of $$$, awards, records, etc.) "hey you should do this/that" or "you shouldn't do this/that" and he says it's aggravating and it's always coming from people who are like ... a cashier at KFC. Just let professionals do what they're good at and stay out of it.

  • @noramitchell9327

I once had a boss who didn't mince words when it came to handling the mistakes we inevitably make. "'Should have' is for shit!" she advised, "It's not about what we should have done that time but what we will do next time." We're all on your side, Sandi. You're doing a monumental job. Congrats to Jack!

Dear Sandi, firstly, concrats on Jack's graduation. Then, please remember that the people giving advice has had the 20/20 vision of hindsight, while you are THERE and have to make the decision right there. Please don't be too fussed, we all feel that we share in your successes and help carry the pain of your failures. You are still doing a damn good job.
Now, while I am at it, I will put my foot in it and wondered about this new Tunis crossing. I noticed all the stillborn ones were what looked like a split brown colour. In my little experience breeding Canaries I learnt that there were certain combinations of Chromosomes that were called lethal. Might it not be possible that this could be the case with the Tunis breed? I think there must be some born with the lethal chromosome being recessive and they live. The ones with the Chromosomes dominant being the one who dies in utero at a certain developmental age and they are bi coloured. I would dearly like to know the reason. Thanks for the effort you put into your videos.

WE ALL LOVE YOU! Even when bad things happen. That’s how we learn, sometimes it’s the hard knocks that teach us the most and SOMETIMES the smallest things teach us valuable lessons as well. If we don’t learn anything as we grow/ in my case age/ then we’re not living we’re just existing. You put yourself out there for hundreds of people to see, sometimes people think of things or have experienced things that you haven’t yet had the opportunity to see or learn and living the life of a farmer there are ALWAYS unique challenges or unexpected things going on. Put on that beautiful smile of yours and please don’t take comments or suggestions as criticism to your way of taking care of your flock. My husband doesn’t watch you but he hears me watching you and he makes comments ALL of the time at what a great shepherdess you are, and he was raised on a sheep farm. So please don’t be so hard on yourself, as I said we love you and wouldn’t be watching your videos if we didn’t. 🌸💚🙃

Don’t beat yourself up. Your ‘screwup’ is a learning experience for us. Your explaining to us and going through the steps yourself are what keeps viewers coming back. Because I saw it visually, and it was like I went through it; I’m always going to remember to completely uncoil electric heating line before plugging it in. You are fascinating, smart and so human and we love it. A career in sheep farming? As a woman, I’d probably never even think of such a career. You educate us in the possibilities; and, in a way for those who can’t, we enjoy vicariously. Thank you! Congratulations Jack!

This was a fun video. I do love it when several events are included in one. A successful preg tox diagnosis and treatment, watching Jack receive his college diploma, seeing Carrisa becoming so much more involved in the everyday “sheeping” tasks, and generally just seeing those sweet baby lambies enter the world. One of my favorite sayings is that you always get experience five minutes after you needed it. We all make mistakes. I know I've made my share in working with horses. The difference is that you are brave enough to film them so we can all learn! The fact is you have many more successes than failures. Congrats to Jack on his graduation!

In this modern world of carefully curated social media feeds where everything is completely perfect at all times, you are a breath of fresh air. I don’t know you and probably never will, but I feel like you’re someone like me! I mess up all the time and I own up to it, sometimes with humor over what I did, and sometimes with regret and sadness depending on the circumstances, but I’m real as I can be about it. I loved this one, Nurse Sandy! I have to say that watching your ladies have contractions causes me to tense up and try to push with them. After all these years, it comes back each time I watch your birthing videos. And my 'baby' is almost 46.

Congratulations 🎊 Jack! Sandi, you really are becoming the expert on lambing. I think the people who question your methods have just joined the channel and have no idea what you put into this endeavor.

Hi Sandi, I always try to be positive with my comments, you are doing a great job with the lambing. It was great to see that one lamb on its feet again.
Jack graduating is a big moment in his life, parents should be proud knowing their son is moving on in life.
Keep up the good work, Sandi.

Don't let others pull you down. They have a right to there own opinion, they don't have a right to make you feel bad about your choices. I've watched you for a few breeding seasons now and I'm impressed. You consider the circumstances and make the best choice you can are that time. Sometimes they are great choices and sometimes maybe not the best after the fact. If I have my information right you've now been breeding sheep for over a decade. You have learned a lot in that time and you are still learning because you care and you are always looking for a better way. Keep up the good work.👍
