    DRIVE | How to Share Audience Information: My favourite part of this film, hands down, is the first 10 minutes. The suspense that is created through very careful and deliberate sharing of information is fantastic. This video digs into the creation and different elements used to make the opening of Drive so great.

    What is your favourite moment from Drive, mines has to be the opening 10 minutes, but after that I do like the elevator scene.

      When the dad just decides to befriend the Driver, despite his obvious intentions. I found that hilarious.

    Good one. But i will also add that Refn hinted the basketball match when the Driver was in his room before he leaves for the job. In the opening scene when the Driver is in his room there is a screenshot of the game.

      thanks glad your enjoying them, i havent seen either of them but iv been meaning to watch The Rover and Blue Ruin was suggested to me a while back and i remember really liking the look of it but still havent seen it yet!!

      @MattRyanBurrows 9 років тому +1

      I gave Blue Ruin and try and couldnt watch the rest. Was it supposed to be a satire? Because I felt like everything in that movie was unrealistic. Heard amazing things about The Rover.

    • @DANNexMACHINA

      I'm very much attracted to low budget films that capture such a grand scale "feel" with a modest budget(See also: Primer, Upstream Color, Bronson, ect.). Blue Ruin epitomizes this with allegedly $36K budget funded by Kickstarter. This is a testament to how the internet and modern technology truly can help some one see their vision come to life on the screen.

    • @_MUSTSEEFILMS_
      @_MUSTSEEFILMS_  9 років тому +1

      I looooove Bronson and Primer, great films, yeah i love low budget creative films, one in particular is THE CUBE, such a random and weird film but the creation and behind the scenes of such a bizarre film is amazing!!

    The rule of three I've notice upon watching Eyes Wide Shut close to the ending where Bill, Alice and their daughter are out christmas shopping, albeit very subtly. Out shopping throughout Bill and Alice converse their daughter brings attention a large bear she hope santa will get her. Promptly they tell her to put it away. After in the same steady shot the couple passes a large display of random assortments of bears. Thats's very specific being she just pulled one off frame to show, we had no prior knowledge of this display: Note that bear symbolism is use variously in Kubricks The Shining. And finally she shows both of them a barbie right before the final dialogue scene with the couple. I'm not sure what this all means, but it's something I've notice.

    • @_MUSTSEEFILMS_
      @_MUSTSEEFILMS_  9 років тому +1

      Yeah i feel like theres alot going on in that scene, its a film iv returned to a few different times and i feel like i still need to watch it again. one of my favourite Kubrick film i think.

    • @joelvand91
      @joelvand91 9 років тому +1

      Maybe something to do with child abuse. The Shining where Danny is seeing the family councillor. Danny's pillow is a bear face with an open mouth in red. As the councillor asks Danny questions, He's holding his hands over his crotch.
      Anyways, I agree EWS probably one of my favourites. I feel it's one of Kubricks most personal films. It's second to 2001 for me.
      Forgot to mention. Fantastic video by the way!

    I have recently gotten into the art of film and i was wondering if you could recommend anything that would help understand what makes a bad, good, and great film.

    • @_MUSTSEEFILMS_
      @_MUSTSEEFILMS_  9 років тому +2

      I think because films are so subjective and many people can find the same film 'good' and 'bad' just from there own personal tastes but if you want to learn more about what a good film is made up of, then 'Film Introduction' books are really good. I mention 1 such book and a whole bunch of other film study resources in this book collection video. hope this helps:

      30cheomu I did that with Shame, i did a small analysis of part and then later touched on the film as a whole, so i may do the same with this film as there are some pretty awesome moments throughout!

    The character of Irene is such a small role for Carrie Mulligan to play. There aren't really a lot of scenes with Irene or dialogue. Carrie shows just how penetrating her innocence and beauty are by simply holding her gaze upon our hero. She brings with her a talent where she does not have to be developed into the damsel in distress. As soon as you lay eyes on her you see her as a princess in chains. She has an innocence so pure that not even our hero can touch because he has been tainted by violence. In this story, as much as violence is a necessary evil, it is still an evil that she cannot allow herself to understand.
