@@TheFaithfulJourneey Choice??? No one is requiring her to choose. She was the very first Ross and Rachel shipper. Also, there was an episode where she revealed to Ross that she hated living with him.
I know that this was one of the first episodes, actually, the first one to be honest, that the producers had the problem of whether or not, they could end an episode on a sad note. As a sitcom, this can be very tricky. Yes, the show is meant to be lighthearted and fun, but what I think people love about this show is it also does not stray away from real life situations. We’ve all been in this situation. A break up. Heart break. The fact that they handled it so well, and they didn’t make it some slapstick thing for comedy, and at the audience responded so well to it, really is a testament to the actors, the writers, and the crew.

Dude,what?even if Rachel was bad at her job,how does it matter? It's her passion, that Ross has been actively sabotaging over and over. Bringing alcohol and fire in the office? yeIIing at Mark when he was kissing his girlfriend in the office? Going to
Rachel's event and falling asleep there?
The one thing I just don't get when I see people arguing about Rachel vs Ross is that even if Ross is right about the "on a break" thing, so what? Would you take back an ex who slept with someone less than 24 hours after a break up? Or at the very least not be upset about it at all? And should Rachel just take Ross back because of it? Because that's essentially the stance you are taking if you are on team Ross.
Don't get me wrong they were both very problematic leading up to the big fight but I can't seem to wrap my head around people claiming that Rachel is more in the wrong OVERALL.
The reason is that Rachel after this episode began to speak about this as if the beak was the whole point, saying again and again “no we were not”.
@@Kal911 well you can say the same about Ross when he keeps stressing that they were on a break as if that makes everything OK. The only reason the writers purposefully didn't let Rachel use the "how does being on a break make what you did ok" argument is because it would make Ross the clear bad guy and there wouldn't be as much of an argument and it wouldn't have been as funny.
I think both were right tbh. Ross was right that they were on a break and Rachael was right to not take him back as she was holding him to the same standards as she holds herself.
whether you consider it a breakup or not, the way to get back together is not to have sex with another person. yea...i can totally see you love me by sticking your tongue down someone else's throat. it's even worse that he tried to hide it. not telling me is the same as lying to me.

So what he did was a reaction to Rachel's total stupidity. Rachel isn't a victim here.
If you're a guy you know what "We need a break from us", "I need some space to think about us", etc means. If a woman tells you that the relationship is over, simple.
Anything that has to do with "us" means a break up. If she says "Go away I don't wanna see you right now" or "Get out I wanna be alone right now" that's a different story, it still sucks but is not about the "togetherness".
Also "Does Ross really love her?" yeah, he does. Everything you've seen from Ross is love, actually the love from Rachel is the one that should be on dispute. Her not "cheating" isn't a demonstration of love.. you shouldn't cheat. Ross did it and it shows weakness. There're reasons why he did it and they all make sense, the act is still there..
Nothing of this would've happened if they communicated with each other. Both parties.
I don't condone cheating, I don't like it. But is up to the people involved to resolve it, she decides she doesn't want to forgive him then that's it.

Let me clarify (so you don't misrepresent what I said). i think what Ross did was wrong, but the reason why it happens matter as much as the thing itself happening. There's a reason why Ross was at that bar, reason why he was drinking, etc.
Now I said and I stand by it that he was "weak". If he would've been strong about it and not let himself be directed by bad advise then maybe thing would've been diferent.
Putting aside the fact that this is a show obviously and that the writters wrote it in that way for a purpose. I think we can agree that Ross loves Rachel and has shown nothing but love to her.

Btw.. when you're replying to someone's comment that is on a video you should watch the video because most of the time the comment is based on something said.
Why I focused on Ross's love is because in the video is implied/said that Ross does not love Rachel. That's why I comment on the topic.
I've already clarified (to you cause before it was quite obvious) that I think what he did was wrong. Being wrong does not make you evil or everyone else innocent of their actions. Ross is not the only in the center of this issue, he's not the sole problem. If you can't see that then stop talking to me cause we'll never reach any middle ground.
Ross was right on the technicality of "we were on a break" but you don't build relationships on technicality. He went and slept with another girl not even 24 hours after their break- whether it was a true breakup or not that is not love. And no being drunk is not an excuse.
Bc technically he wasn't with Rachel at that time does not mean it's valid to sleep with someone bc technically they were on a break. If a couple breaks up and one of them goes and sleeps with someone in less than a day afterwards... That is not technically cheating but if it was that easy for them to be with someone else- yes in its essence it's cheating.

100 percent agree. Yes its not cheating, however it speaks volumes about what kind of impulsive and destructive behavior ross would do whenever he sees that his relationship is being threatened. Sure he was drunk, but he also didn't have to drink that much, or even at all in the first place.
Not defending Ross at all because even though they were "on a break" to go sleep with someone else the same night (or is it the next one, i'm not sure) is almost the same as cheating to me. However, Rachel was also a big reason why all of this happened as well. They were just not meant to be considering how childish and immature they both acted in the last 10 or so episodes.
If they were not exclusive anymore, then they were not exclusive anymore. You can't put some arbitrary timer on when he can move on. She isn't obligated to get back with him, but he did nothing wrong.

Not really. He never even let her discuss the terms of this break. He just ran off and cheated after that.
The thing that bothers me that I didn't mention last time is that I feel a "break" would've been completely fine, if ross had stayed to listen to what Rachel meant about the break when she said "a break from us". But he left and didn't ask any questions about what she meant. She could've explained I just need space, where we are still together, but we don't talk for a couple weeks, then reevaluate things once things calm down. Also, I feel ross not hanging up on Rachel when he called her and heard Mark would've been super helpful, bc if she fully explained, maybe he wouldn't have slept with Chloe. BUT then again, something tells me even if she said her side, he would've thought she was lying. I'm just saying, he jumped to conclusions too much. I already put the rest of my opinion about the breakup on the last vid tho
Nothing would have happened if she did not spend time with Mark right after that and not lied about it when Ross called.
And Ross obviously thought she was enjoying the time Mark. Celebrating their break up. Because she didn't sound sad on the phone.
And in the next season, Mark admits that he has had a crush on Rachel previously. So Ross was right about him all along.
Ross is the victim here.
She told Monica they “broke up” right after. In the one that could have been she says she wishes she was on a break so she could cheat on Barry with Joey.
So we know what her view of a break is. I understand her initial shock, but considering the person she is, it took her too long (years) to “understand”.
Hyphenated because she is already that person, she understands perfectly, she’s just self-righteous in her victimisation.
This episode was so aggravating because Ross did such a stupid, immature thing by jumping into bed with Chloe all because he was convinced something was happening between Rachel and Mark. However, Imo I don't think it can be called cheating because they WERE on a break.

break doesnt mean breakup though. break just means a temporary separation but usually it means ur still together.

The episode that hurt me the most. I didn't want to watch the show for a while after this episode. Superb and realistic acting.

It's very hard for me to re-watch that scene as it feels very real. I used to be on Ross's side on a first watch, but when it happened to me I understood Rachel's pain. They are just not good for each other, both are very immature and selfish in this situation.

When Mark asked her out she was unsure,talked to Phoebe and admitted she only accepted to go out to get back at Ross and then refused to even kiss Mark,and she never saw him again until season 10....Ross of course has every right to feel hurt and scared when the person
he loves has less and less time for him,staying at work every evening, skipping their Anniversary without offering to make it up.... And working with someone who seems to be interested in her - of course Ross is worried. And yes, technically they were on a break and the guy was in Rachel's appartment. That was a bad decision and Rachel has a problem
saying NO to people. We never found out if she actually wanted a tattoo, it was Phoebe and Ross calling the shots in that episode. But how can Rachel take him back when she hears that after how he treated her for months, the moment a break happens, he sleeps with someone?
The scene of the breakup is quite ironic for me because before starting the series I knew the saga ross rachel alord I never shipper but this scene happens to make me sad anyway
Today I have a love/hate relationship with ross and Rachel's relationship and this scene is 75% there.

When you said that if Ross truely loves her or he just really likes her a lot, I believe the same. Rachel actually loves him a lot, she can't watch him with somebody else but he just moved on so quick and never wanted to apologize after everything he did, even cheated on her, he blamed her instead. Idc if they broke up or not(which I think they did not), Ross was just so wrong to sleep with someone else on the same day they fought. You're right, if he truly loved her he'd not have done that. Ross is just so toxic and immature when it comes to relationships.

When I was younger I was more annoyed with Rachel on this. As I grew older, my annoyance between Rachel and Ross on this kinda equaled out.

Right here from the get go, I'm making my thoughts on this clear.
I do not believe in this "we're on a break" nonsense.
for me, that is just the dating version of a marital separation, in the eyes of the law, you're still married, until a divorce is finalised.
so here is the same thing here.
if you are in a relationship, and you decide that you both need to take some time apart, to give each other some space, do NOT DARE you that as a license to hook up with whoever you meet in that time, because although you're on a break, you're still in a relationship.
so for me I am on Rachel's side 100%
i like when your talking about the different ways Joey and Ross of being smart in my feeling people that are book smart they seem to be kinda stupid on common sense things like Ross but with Joey having street smarts is good with the common sense issues but pretty dumb on book stuff

i agree with ross that they were infact on a break however whenever you sleep with someone straight after a serious relationship it gives really bad vibes so how committed to that relationship you were. i don’t think the issue is that ross cheated but the fact he was in another girl hours after. I also think rachel is somewhat in the wrong for inviting mark over. Not because she’s not allowed friends but having the one person they are causing the main friction was a very poor idea. but she also makes a good point i don’t think anyone would forgive rachel for sleeping with mark that night which is why i think rachel is correct.
Ross was always insecure, and his marriage "helped" him, and his divorce regressed him. Go back to the flashback episode and watch as he is encouraging his wife to find hobbies and spend time having fun, not knowing she is gay. And I think the harshness on Ross is when people forget about his kindness too, he instantly bankrolled Monica when she was broke, bought Joey the dog to make him feel better, and when Rachel, Phoebe, and Joey couldn't afford Ross's birthday present(Hootie tickets) he bought his birthday tickets for them.
And Rachel while she is getting a career she has to learn balance. She cant expect a partner to just wait for them until she makes time. For instance when Ross got called away on their first date, Ross did his best to wrap up early and when he couldnt he made a picnic to make it up for her, while she at best said thanks while running out the door to her job.
Also they were on a break, imo, a one night stand the night of might be in bad taste but it isn't cheating, and worth noting Ross was confused when he heard the "Good Morning", that's how drunk he was.
And kinda funny that Jennifer is getting the bigger props when David is the most decorated actor on the show.

Ross: nobody likes change(Rachael proceeds to attack him with the newsaper). This is such a great example of how Ross as a character can be unintentionally funny cause for him it wasn’t a joke but for the actor its clever play on how generally people don’t like change cause we’re creatures of comfort so to speak, I know deep down Rachael would have given him a wry smile but cause of the atmosphere it turned to frustration like you can’t charm your way out of this.
Probably my favourite joke of the episode is the way Ross drops Chandler and Joey in it and you see Monica and Phoebe look at them with disappoint and waiting for a explanation, while Chandler looks into space instead of at them while trying to calculate his response only to turn to the wax past it to the girls and say “Wax the door shut we’re never leaving ever” with a straight face full of fear waving his hand gesturing do it do it now is honestly one of my favourite Chandler moments kills me every time🤣
I agree with Ross. We are on a break means a breakup to me.

Secondly Ross was on the verge of blackout drunk. If the roles were reversed people would call that rape and wouldn't be blaming the woman. Thirdly Rachel was doubly in the wrong for asking Mark of all people to come over and comfort her after the fight.

Yeah. They were not together. Rachel used him away. Took him for granted. So he slept with someone when he was drunk. And Rachel was with Mark.

Both Jennifer Anniston and David schwimmer had a crush on each other. They never past that boundary, so they showed their feelings through Ross and Rachel. On this episode, Jennifer Anniston was actually going through a breakup, so she was able to express it through Rachel in this episode.
They were on a break, Period! She couldn't handle the situation and wanted a break which he was scared about all the time. Team Rachel, well what he was afraid of did come true. He was broken, also dumb for pushing himself in scenarios to work things out by going to her work place but they did breakup she made sure he understood that.
N when he was low he went out and sat with his friends. He wasn't specifically looking out for women. She came on to him. He didn't make a move nor wanted to he was broke and numb in that situation realising what he feared came true. It was infact a woman who came on to him and kissed him.
Rachel on the other hand knowing Ross didn't like Mark she shared her personal matters to him and he as expected swooped in for a chance. N later when she finds out Ross did this she compares and asks him how would Ross feel if she had slept with Mark. That's not even a comparison, she couldn't handle the relation she couldn't work for it and she complains and compares it illogically when Ross was with a stranger a "woman" who came on to him in an unexpected situation.
That situation was unexpected and bad for both not just for her they should have worked things out, she should have realised for that situation to happen even she and her behaviour contributed to it. Over it Joey and Chandlers ill advise didn't help him either, the whole situation was bad. Should have taken time n worked it out.
Few things to consider other than the "break" BS
1. When he went to the bar, he didn't go to have a hookup, but to cool off
2. The girl kept pushing herself on him & he repeatedly kept pushing her away
3. He responded to her advances only after finding out that Rachel was with Marc which to him meant she was "with" him & not just with him....any person would have thought the same at that moment
4. Ross was overly drunk & emotionally devastated....clearly not in a state to give well informed consent
This is further solidified by the fact that he had to take pills the next morning for his hangover & he didn't remember anything about the night until he saw that girl in his apartment
To me this looks like the girl taking advantage of him instead of him intentionally sleeping with her

If she was drunk and someone was coming on to her - with the glaring insecurity and hatred she had for that girl from knowing her for 1 second on the phone (as opposed to mark) - it’s incredibly obvious she would have handled it even worse than Ross.

I just feel disgusted at the fact that the show tried to portray Ross as a cheater instead of a victim, just to get some cheap laughs out of the situation. Also most of the friend's viewers also feel the same way towards Ross, but they would feel quite different if it would've been either of the 3 girls instead of him.
I am totaly on Ross side here, they were on break so he can do whatever he wants, even Jennifer Aniston said in the reunion about this that Ross was in the right, they were on the break! Still a shitty thing to do but a break/broken up you can do whatever you want because you are no longer with that person... anyway just my opinion, love them both, and yes amazing performance of them all,especially David, he is for sure the best actor in the group, his facial expressions are always pure comedy gold! :) Cant wait for more HIMYM & FRIENDS! :)

@@microsickful I never said they should get back together, I did actualy say it was a shitty thing to do, Im just saying that if you were looking at it from Ross perspective he did nothing wrong because taking a break is the same thing as broken up so he is free to do whatever or whoever he wants (obviously consent is needed!)... so that was my point that Rachel saying he cheated, no he didnt because they were no longer together... now should they get back together, that is totaly up to them, of course cheating is not OK but he didnt cheat... but to be honest I dont think they are really that got together, I mean I dont want to SPOIL anything for the Dylan or just in general for people who havent seen the show in full yet so I guess for those people STOP READING HERE!!!

I dont really think they are that great of a match, I mean through out the show they broke up and got back together sooooo many times, so many problems in their relationship, no comunication, no trust, just not a good match in my opinion, yes their sweet moments are adorable, they are cute together but only for a short time at least IMO, my fav ship in this show is and always will be MONDLER (HUGEEE SPOILER so please no one mention it to Dylan, I would love to see his geniune reaction to that moment!) because they legit were perfect for eachother, great communication, trust, just everything a great relationship needs! :)
That is of couse just my opinion so to each their own, to sum up, Ross did NOT CHEAT because they were broken up so that was my point, he was in the right, should they get back together - honestly no because they are not great together, if they change and start comunicating and trusting eachother and all that, sure give it a try if they BOTH are willing to do so... :)

i can see both ur pov but personally i think ross doesn’t really love rachel (anymore), i think he loves the idea of her he had when first he fell in love with her. and honestly i think that even if they love each-other they’re not good together and imo they worked better with other partners!
Well. Watched 10 seasons. And it's clear that Ross loved Rachel from the beginning. And he was not treated we'll by Rachel at all until the last episode.
Ross was totally in the right. (Every single cast member on the HBO reunion last year said the same thing)
