I love Oatmeal (porridge)! I made it every morning for my own kids. Eat healthy, eat Oats! (I love to make apple crisp - which has oatmeal, brown sugar, and cinnamon in the topping. MacIntosh apples, golden delicious, and Jonathan are the best varieties to use for apple pies, apple crumble, apple crisp, etc.)
Joel, as a student of Spanish - concentrate on where you put the Stress on your words in Spanish. For example: el Papa = the Pope; El papá = the father; la papa = the potato; los Papas = the Popes; los papás = the fathers; las papas = the potatoes. By stressing different syllables, you change the meaning entirely, as illustrated! In Spanish the second-to-the-last syllable is ALWAYS stressed (has more UMPH!). That's why they use the accent marks - to show that the UMPH has moved to the syllable with the accent marker over the vowel. In English we say: SYL - luh - ble (3 syllables, with the stress on the first syllable) syl - LUH - ble is with the stress on the 2nd syllable, and syl-la-BLE (sounds like "sill- uh-BULL", in American English, that is). In English we just "know" by context, or it's intuition. (American and English accents differ, because sometimes we place the Stress different Syllables! So, watch - be careful! -to obey the accent marks and put the UMPH! on the correct place in the word - otherwise it's not correct, or you're saying something totally unintended!

I didn't know the rules, I just saw a bunch of boys running around with sticks and it appeared they were hitting each other, so I'm yelling, but him, but him, him, RUN!!!! It was quite fun. After the game my son said, Mom, why are you yelling that? I said I read cheering for our team, he informed me that hitting was against the rules, all I could do was laugh as I thought back to the other parents sitting around me. The i was, just watching to see if someone actually got hit by the sticks. 😂

Lia: We have crossing lights with audible signals, but they are not required by the cities at every intersection. Each city has its own rules for if and when to deploy them.
In Kansas City, MO for example, there are a few intersections with traffic lights on the Plaza with audible signals and major intersections elsewhere, but not on residential streets or places with less traffic. KC is better than most at public accommodations for the otherly-abled, though. I think they only install the audio signals as they replace traffic signals at intersections, so it is a slow deployment. There is a major school for the deaf in a Kansas suburb, so you’d think they would be better at deployment than that, but, no.
San Francisco had audible crossing signals for major intersections on Market, but not always on other intersections. I couldn’t figure out their criteria for deployment. They were seriously in arrears on all manner of handicapped accommodations, such as curb cuts and wheel chair access all over SF, despite the federal law requiring them, both on public spaces and in private buildings open to the public (stores, office blogs, etc.). California cities in general was far behind other states in public accommodations improvements, which I found shocking.
I suspect there are few grants to help cities pay to install the audible signals, which is why they are slow to be installed. Plus, they probably are not too popular with residents living near the intersections due to the increase in noise pollution. I could hear them from a block away in SF if I slept with my windows open. It is not a sound conducive to sleep.

Now that was a great video. Congrats. From an amateur, I think you should have led with this one sharing in your delights of various NYC sights rather than beginning with a slam at an American institution, whir Castle (meant mainly after a night of heavy drinking anyway). We can take forthright criticism, but a love video such as this should've been first.

4:21 I just spent the past weekend plus Monday in Brooklyn and rode those Citi Bikes around for 2 days. They are horrible. Half of them were broken, then once you arrive at your destination there's nowhere to park them. We found out later there's an app that tells you where available parking docks are but they don't tell you that on the dock where you rent them from. My legs were killing me. I haven't biked since last summer.

That was fun to watch, I haven't been to New York in ages, and it was cool to see Central Park. That was one of the places I most enjoyed in New York. I think it's a fun place to visit, but I love Colorado too much to ever want to live there.

Walk symbols in the USA: Right in the middle of transitioning to the sound/visual type. It will take a while but they are showing up at busiest intersections and new crossings. Each US State has their own pace for installation. We'll get there, just not tomorrow.

Autumn in New York with Richard Gere and Wyona Ryder has two great shots of Central Park. one in the beginning with fall foliage and one at the end in the Spring on the water in a canoe. Rather sad movie, but I watch it every Autumn, almost every day--at least parts of it.

I grew up in Long Island and we have a big family July 4th picnic in Belmont Lake Park in Suffolk County, every year. One of our rituals was to get the boats and have water fights or super (water guns) soaker fights. We also have water balloons and eggs. Unfortunately, those lakes are full of goose poop. One year everyone got conjunctivitis because of the lake water so now the fights have been limited
on the lake. The park also had two seater bikes. I wish they still had those. I got to go last year when visiting last summer. We had almost 100 people there and this was the 75th anniversary. Started by my mom's parents after WWII. Now that I'm in FL can't afford to go every year. My younger cousins are now all having babies and we are missing that. Homesick again. Lia, most people in NYC that are blind have a guide dog. I like that idea though. Did you try the bread, plzza, bagels and cannoli. Italian subs are great too. I miss the Italian food so much. Enjoy!!!!!!!
