@orange Shots Very well explained in depth for a Non-technical person. Good job for valuable information. 2 years ago, i was using ADSL at old DP. but after upgrading PTCL lines with new DP. i issued a new number form new DP to avail VDSL technology. After this upgrade, i experienced very well stability in my connection. due to this Video, now i m able to understand the technical points. now SNR margin (221) and Line Attenuation (141), both are excellent in my internet connection for 25Mbps.

Great info and very aptly put together! hope people watch it thoroughly and soak in all the info, so that they won't be pinging you constantly on your Whatsapp regarding their ptcl issues.
when you were explaining line Attenuation with very simple "longer the distance, weaker the signal" it reminded me of :
1.(pretty obvious) The plight of anyone who uses PTCL
2. How Nasa faces the same problem, but on astronomical scale to catch the Faintest of signal from Voyager 1 (A space probe; the farthest man-made object in deep space ~22Billion km away). At it's origin, the signal from the probe, is about 20 watts strong and upon reaching earth its as weak as a billionth of a billionth of a watt ! !

Mene modem b change kia per masla wesa ka wesy hai.
1 joint hai mere cable me.
Spliter b change nai kia hai.
Check you line parameters as per this video and if they are below the margins & not improving then reduce your connection speed to 15Mbps yaar. Just if they aren’t improving.

Actually both matter. But SNR is usually the one that affects a lot in Pakistan. They actually affect Both parameters DS and US but as most connections we have are ADSL OR VDSL so downstream is actually more affected.

SNR Margin (0.1 dB):230downstream 101upstream
Attenuation (0.1 dB):33.5downstream 18.7upstream
Where I live some people are getting upto 50mbps speed. But where my house is situated in the area,PTCL can provide only 4mbps max. Lines are very old but still getting very stable connection.
You parameters are good for 4Mbps. I think you can easily get up to 8, but just touch and go I think.

My snr margin 66 and my connection is working fine
I have 15mb connection....my SNRs are 131 and line attenuation is 60.... attenuation is outstanding because pole is just alongside my door....I have a cable which is 15fts almost, means distance between my modem and the pole is less than 15fts...Btw operator told me if you want 15mb connection you should have at least 60 SNRs....when i was upgrading to 8mb he said you need 35 at least and at that time they were only 25....then a year ago ptcl changed everything...changed all the main cables, installed new DPs which are very tight because before that if it rains then ptcl would be out of order but this DP is brand new and internet works even if it rains now
PS: i don't use a splitter because people use splitter for phone and modem both...i had a problem with that because my internet use to disconnect when phone was connected so what my line man did is that he directly connected it with my modem....i don't use the phone...i will advise you guys that if you don't use phone then don't use splitter at all....

Absolutely outstanding explanation sir but sory to say sir distribution box mean cabinet ka attenuation se koi wasta nahi hai becz simple adsl cabinets main sirf joints hain jo tamam galio k khambo par lagi dps tak jaty hain wo wires exchange se hi copper ki surat main ati hain or cabinet or cabinet se dp or dp se home tak copper wire hi ati hai isi waja se exchange ka distance attenuation par matter karti hai exchange se distance jitna ziada ho ga utna hi attenuation ziada ho ga or rahi baat msag technology ki msag power over ethernet k principle par kam karta hai msag ko mini exchange bhi kaha jata hai becz is main electricity bhi hoti hai or fibre wire exchange se msag tak lai hui hoti hai jis se vdsl hasil hota hai or speed bhi achi ati hai sir ho sakta hai main bhi kuch points par ghalat ho sakta hu but jo main ne absorb kia hai wo ap k sath share kia hai baqi rahnumai kijyea ga ghalti par
Yes shanwal, in cases where there are copper lines to the cabinet there exchange distance matters.
Now a days mostly line to the cabinet are Fiber. So cabinet or in case lines to DB are Fiber then DB/DP distance matters.
It's all subjective you see.
So if you cabinet has copper input then YES distance to exchange matters.
