@@SM-qh2mz Agree! The shape and style of the cabinets will change but shades of white will stay. However, because there were too many white kitchens in the last two decades, natural wood cabinets especially in combination with white will be coming more and more. I think a combination of white with wood is very pleasing and timeless as well.
I totally agree with all points! The small horizontal kitchen backsplashes look so busy and outdated to me. Also extending the ceiling, 'boob lights' are an outdated/builder choice that can easily be updated to something stylish and fun. I would love to see a Part 2~ Thank you for another great video Natalia
I agree with all you shared…I enjoy a clean, spacious decor which I can change as seasons change…I love to accommodate the light coming in through my windows. I love wood and other natural elements all the better for a flow of chi through my space…Thank you for your wisdom, Natalia! I hope you find your new home soon!

Your video is spot on for me! Now I’d like to see what alternatives you recommend. I’m getting ready to redo my kitchen and would love to hear what you have say about tile
Thank you for your feedback. I'll consider making the Part 2. It very much depends on your kitchen style. There are many different kitchens. I am very interested in what other people have to say about kitchen tiles as well :)
I loved the white kitchen you showed with the granite. I personally love the look of granite regardless of the kitchen though not so much the very black granite and as warmer browns and lighter granites. Also like tile backsplashes and want to do a tile backsplash of some sort but I don’t want it too outlandish just pretty and I have a couple ideas. I’m doing plain subway tile in my bathroom and want to break it up with some earthy, warm glass tiles through it. As for the LVP, it does feel different from wood which would have been my preference but not our budget though not to me unpleasant. I did choose a grey I really thought pretty for our new mudroom as it got flooring before everything else which does have blue pine tongue and groove but a warm golden oak color for the rest of the house which we are working on bit by bit. The vpf is a 100% improvement over our very unhealthy old carpets touching on the last portion of your video. You don’t want to know the horrors we found that we were breathing was thing in constantly.
Sounds like you've put a lot of thought into your remodeling. What you've described here resonates with me too. If you love the choices you've made it will stay ageless for a long time.
We've updated most everything in this new home from 5 years ago. My last want, not a need, is to update just a little bit the kitchen remodel from 2001. I like the white cabinets but not the door fronts nor the crown molding that renders traditional. I'd like flat fronts and flat crown molding or even a soffit installed above them - I fear the kitchen may appear smaller with a soffit. We're so blessed to have an almost 2x larger kitchen I move slowly to not mess it up!!
Yes, large kitchen feels like a blessing to me too. Totally in line with you about crown moldings and flat doors. I would not recommend installing a soffit. I had it years ago and the kitchen looked so much better after I removed it. Soffit is an older feature. A contemporary looking crown molding, straight and not too wide is probably the best option. I will be looking at those soo myself :)
I just updated a few major pieces of my kitchen. I did it very affordably, snagging pieces of my plan over the years and storing them in my back closet. Still more to go with those popcorn ceilings but, I do really appreciate these videos. And if we love a feature, we save it! I’m artistic, more than trendy.
Hi Natalia! Great content and I also love your accent. I agree about wood beams and wooden panels ONLY if they're from synthetic wood (I heard those fake wooden beams are actually foam!). But if they're from real wood and are the original features of the house, I suggest everyone to keep them. They give out strong personalities which you're going to regret later if you take them out and replace them with more trendy but soulless trends
Hi Natalia, I just moved into a new house. We removed the popcorn ceilings. That process is very expensive and extremely messy. I wished I had known I might have selected a different house. I definitely agree that the design choices tell you a lot about the previous inhabitants. Unfortunately I have a bad impression and it’s making the move in process slow and emotionally draining. I want to clear out all that negative energy and bring more joy into this home.
Thank you for sharing this. It's really good to know about popcorn ceilings. I suspected this myself. Sending all the best wishes to you and your new home! If you invest some time and choose the things and furniture you love, it will help to shift the energy. Feng Shui and Space Clearing helps as well. Just keep persisting and you will succeed.
I really like designs on ceilings (not popcorn). Give me tray ceilings, coffered ceilings, mullions, medallions, at the very LEAST a distinctive crown molding -- anything to add a little interest up there. I think plain smooth ceilings are boring. Also, LVP comes in lots of colors and lots of qualities; all LVP is not created equal. I suspect builders use the cheap crappy stuff, but you can get a beautiful LVP -- okay, it's not as pretty as wood, but it's waterproof, kid proof and dog proof and frankly it's a lot prettier than wood that's all scratched up and buckling due to water damage. Everything else I agree with.
I agree. I’m not a huge fan of LVP myself though I’ve had my house updated with them. I’d totally prefer wood but for a couple of good reasons can’t go in that direction. Here in Florida, LVP is king and again due to a lot of good reasons. It won’t be going out of style too soon.

I for one am so happy that white kitchens are finally on their way out. I confess I had one too but I also had a dark blue and white, a three colour kitchen (white, black and light/medium stain wood) and am putting in a new kitchen in a new build now and it will be a light taupe and medium/dark wood stain . I would love to do a painted green kitchen in our mountain house. I think the colour and design is more permanent according to where you live.
@@MimiH1959 I like a combination of light off white color and wood too. I think it is a brilliant area and fairly recent one. And I also like painted green kitchens in some spaces. Good luck with your new kitchens. Enjoy!
Just use whatever style you want regardless of it being in fashion or not. I have an all white kitchen and it looks clean and fresh. I also have popcorn ceilings that can’t be scraped because it’s hard vermiculite. They are painted in a white simi gloss and actually look very nice and clean. I don’t care about style because we all know styles come and go and then come back. Just like gold fixtures and h hardware went out of style 20 years ago and are now back in style.
The 'outdated' homes that you perceive as undesirable today were not carried out well to begin with, at the time they were built when this style was popular. These are mainly builder grade homes or they were decorated by homeowners who followed a trend and did not have a talent for design. Homes from the early 2000ds and earlier that were professionally and tastefully designed still look great. I have a friend whose house is decorated in the style that was popular in the early 2000ds and it looks gorgeous. She worked in a design related profession. Also the early HGTV homes still look good today.
I think white kitchens are truly timeless and and a safe choice...it is just that there are newer trends. There is nothing nice about honey oak...not even when it first came out! and the glass mosaic tiles show the danger of following trends...esp with tiles which are hard to replace.
Good point. For me, I would not change it just because it is outdated or old. I would change it because I don't like it or there is something I like in particular that I would enjoy much more.
Trying to keep up with these women and their dated design trends would bankrupt most people. They make this trash up to sell more, Don"t come to my house
I agree. It's a bit sick to have all these items popular and necessary...and five years later, they are outdated. Fewer trends. More solid design and whatever people living in the house actually like.
@@Breezy-jq6hq Thank you for both of your inputs. I can understand the frustration behind trends moving too fast. And I agree with you that it is not a good thing to fall into it and change it every five years. But eventually everything ages and when we finally decide to remodel or when we move into a new home we should think which current trends will age less and our home will look not outdated for the next few decades.
Totally disagree. It looks very on trend and modern 🤷♀️ You might not like it, but a teak/MCM looking wood, one simple orchid or plant, and a large properly proportionate peice of art.

Proper wood panels and trims are lovely and always in style
Agree! Some of them age while others stay beautiful. It is usually a good quality wood and real craftsman work that stays ageless.
