As a fellow Mennonite and sewist, my biggest projects that take time are:
1. Currently trying to finagle knit cape dress pattern that fits me. I think I may have finally gotten it but boy has it been a journey (most of my cape dresses are woven).
2. Every Christmas I try to make around 10 sets of handmade gifts- I’ve done bowl cozies, unpaper towel rolls, oven towels… it’s a dozy trying to do so many all at once. I’ve learned to do it all in batches- cut, serge, etc everything in steps.
3. I recently did a baby shower gift that included 3 sets of matching burp cloths/bibs/paci straps, a teether toy, and a nursing cover. That was so much fun and they turned out beautiful!
I wanted to do toiletry/cosmetic bags for Christmas for everyone, but unfortunately I got sick and spent a week in the hospital and had to have tests and procedures and surgery, so that didn’t happen this year. Hopefully I can get it done for next year!
Megan you are a beautiful momma-to be ( fourth time)! The photo shoot was absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us and being real about the state of your home when momma isn’t fussing about everything having to look camera perfect. I love the lived in look created by children’s playtime. Enjoy it as before you know it your little ones will be grown with children in their own homes. Believe me when I say you will say where did the time go!!!!
But boys are so fun
Megan, for the ivory dress, put a cute velvet ribbon in contrasting color above your bump that drapes down that would look beautiful!
I was just thinking as you were cutting the fabric how nostalgic the sound of cutting fabric is, I don’t sew but I remember my mom sewing and going to the fabric store with her. I love the way it sounds
The dress is beautiful and is perfect for a winter photo shoot.
I’m 22 weeks pregnant and this little
Babe is big! I’m tired tired tired, always trying to lay down and nap when my 16 month old is taking his one nap, but I too am not a good napper and wake up feeling worse most times but can’t seem to make it to supper/bed time successfully without a nap 🤪
I bought my sewing machine after I saved up enough from my first real job. My father took me to Sears and I purchased the top of the line, for that time, Kenmore. I bought the machine and a wood cabinet with two drawers. I was 16 years old and I’m now 62 and I still use that sewing machine! There’s a piece broken off that the sewing repairman could no longer find~it’s part of the threading mechanism~so I can sew for awhile and then the thread will get askew and break and I’ll have to rethread. Sadly, my mother passed away in May, so I have inherited her Kenmore, which is very nice and I’ll need to learn to sew on it. I have a lot of those 1970’s and before (from mom) patterns and I do know how to use them, but honestly, I think you are better at fitting a pattern to yourself. It’s wonderful how you can conceptualize them in your mind. Your dress looks stunning with those sleeves! I love it and you did a tremendous job. I also have Gingher scissors, but mine have black handles and you’re right~I would have been in so much trouble had I used my mama’s scissors for anything but material and thread and the same went for my kiddos. 😂 I loved your video, as usual! Enjoy these last weeks of pregnancy; it won’t be long now! 🩷🩵🩵🩵
My motivation is 100% correlated to my sleep. I have a 9 mo who still nurses every 2 hrs, and has been going through a sleep regression for the past month. Eating healthy helps give me energy, but when I'm tired it's hard to get things done and I just want to eat brownies 😄
Ha, I also received a sewing machine for graduation in 1961. I had my choice of a car or a sewing machine. I knew I was to be married in four months and would have use of my husband-to-be’s 1960 Corvette so I chose the SM. I used it to make my clothes, things for my home and eventually some clothes for by children. Donna
Oh my goodness! I can’t believe you spoke about motivation and sleep, I just talked to the Lord about that this morning during my devotions, I’m retired and am just staying up way to late like a teenager again 😂
My granddaughter got a sewing machine for Christmas, I had my mother in laws fabric scissors and pinking shears, and my mothers measuring tape so I took a few notions from my own sewing box and gave them all to her she was thrilled.
I'm not sewing clothes at this time but I am sewing purses. I love the one I just finished. It's made from a butter soft faux leather that is a navy color. I added rose gold handles, zippers, and a crossbody strap.
I sew and I LOVE the sound of the scissors. The dress looks elegant.
That dress video is how I found you. I was searching easy sewing vids and my life hasn't been the same. I now eat better, stay on top of stuff better and my life is just fun now. 😅
The dress turned out perfect in my opinion, The photos are beautiful ! Scenery was spot on 👌.
It looks like the photos came out beautiful. That is a beautiful dress. Can’t wait to see you in your next video. I have a blessed Thursday night.❤
If I understood correctly!”, the way you do your shoulder seams is called French seams. And though I’ve never done them, watching you makes me think how much stronger they would be. Thanks for that! I originally found you on a sewing video, and I’m so glad I did!
I used to work at Simplicity Pattern Company when the patterns where folded by hand in the 1960's. The ladies who did the folding were paid by how many they folded. I used to sew all my own clothing, but haven't sewn in years.
I also got a sewing machine for graduation. And I inherited my mother’s 1941 White machine that she received for graduation. What a gift.
My sewing project for today is finishing up mending and putting a small quilt back together that my mother made 30 years ago for one of my sons.
That first cut of cribbage would make a cute headband.😊
I received a sewing macine for high school graduation in 1961. I am still using it and it works perfectly!
I made a Christmas pieced table runner and I am about to start a lap quilt. I sewed for my son and two daughters while they were growing up. Before I retired from teaching I made a lot of my clothes for work.
Your vlogs warm my heart and truly make me smile. Keep up the good content and thank you for keeping Christ in your life and sharing it with us.
A good winter project I like is printing, framing, and hanging pictures on a bare wall in the house! I think Megan's sewing is like Jana's cooking-- always deviating from the instructions and still coming out great!
Love the name "Sawyer". and it fits well with Fletcher and Miller.
Beautiful photos! 😍
So excited to watch this vidoe! ♥️
Thanks for sharing your day with us. That was fun.

The dress and pictures are beautiful
You are the cutest pregnant lady! I get soooo gigantic (everyone always thinks I have two or three inside when pregnant) but you look adorable. Aww!
I only sew quilts bc I always mess something up with clothing.
Bernina machines are soooo good to use. I am glad you are teaching Evonnie how to sew. No one taught me and I asked many to teach me when I was a kid.
When pregnant, I wake to pee maybe 3x a night. I nurse a few times a night now, but hope sleep will come soon.
The pictures look so nice!!
Both you and the dress are beautiful!!! 😊
I wouldn't wanna step out without a jacket. We have had cold weather these last few days. It was -37°c with the windchill -50°c this morning.

Beautiful dress, you did a great job
Here in Brittany, I step out each day at sunset to feed my barn kitties and sheep, and put them in the barn for the night. I love seeing the various sunsets during the year. Glad you can get a little nature break each day! Lovely video!
I loved this video! I wonder if darts would have helped with the fit on the dress so there wasn’t extra material in the back. Super cute dress, though!!! Definitely tempts me to pull out my machine and keep practicing so I can make my own dress, too! I loved Evonnie’s dress with the little hearts 🥰
I'm not Mennonite but raised in PA and YES to the mom's sewing scissors. Haha you unlocked a core memory for me there!
Love watching your videos! It’s summer here in Australia and it’s sooo hot humidity is 90%!!! Bring on Winter!
I’m in the midst of sewing my 13 yr old a dress for an upcoming Mardi Gras dance with our homeschool group! I just cut everything yesterday and just need to start sewing! Re: patterns, I loooove using indie pdf sewing patterns! I print them myself at home and all the companies I’ve used have superb instructions with pictures and even videos! Sizing is also more what you’d expect than the big name patterns, which I’ve also never used.
My mom used to knit, sew, cross stitch... I remember when I was 15 sweater coats were in style and I wanted one so bad but we couldn’t afford it. My mom and I went to the department store and she looked at a bunch of them and said I can do that and went home and made me a sweater coat with a hood and pockets it was cable net baby blue and I still have it (I am now 61 and my mom passed when my 27 year old daughter was 5 months old). She used to put labels in everything she made that read “made with Love - Mommy” It hangs in my closet and I still wear it periodically. ❤ My eldest of two daughters creates and sews her own cosplay designs and has never used a pre-made pattern. She uses my gift wrap paper to make patterns 😂😂😂
Lol, love how your like me, loving the simple things... A backrest of a chair, so simple to make life that much better..❤❤❤
I used to sew clothes all the time when I was a new Mom/Homemaker!!! I loved that season of life, too. I love embroidery, best!
My high school graduation gift was a Sears Kenmore sewing machine in 1980! I am still using it! 😁 Your dress turned out beautifully! Cannot wait to see more ot the photos!
Megan.. You are so amazing to be able to sew like you do and such a precious gift your mother passed down to you. You looked amazing in the dress and the pictures were priceless. God Bless your whole family🥰
Your sewing videos are definitely my favorite ❤
I need to make more!
Why am I tearing up watching the photo shoot?! Your family is so beautiful Megan 💚
Your dress is so beautiful!
I’m also a seamstress but can’t find much opportunity to sew since I have a baby right now. So about an hour or so a week I get. Mostly I do cross stitching, baking lots of bread and other goodies, and in the summer I do ice-dying which is really fun as well. All pretty easy to do with young kids at home.
hey girl- enjoyed the video! Love the dress- great job!😉😃 Such pretty pics to. Y'all have a blessed weekend- stay warm🥰
Hi beautiful family! I love all the pics! you all look so nice! Thanks for sharing
Thank you Megan. Love love your videos and all they encompass. ❤❤❤.
I always love your sewing videos!! You inspired me to sew knit dresses and tops last year for the first time. They turned out great! I loved ordering from SEWphisticated Fabrics per your recommendation. Thank you for being real, and showing the way your house looks on sewing days. My children are little, too, so I can totally relate. Your velvet dress is gorgeous. Hope you have a lovely month of preparing for your new baby! Congratulations!
Love how the dress turns out! I have fabric for one and a design in my head I just need to get started. I just had a baby on Dec 29th so my fresh start is going to be on February 1st.
I LOVE the sleeves on the dress!!!! They are so feminine and fancy feeling. ❤ Beautiful photos. 😊
I got a piano for my high school graduation and then enrollment in a local junior college. My parents helped support me through five years of junior college and university. I was the first person in my immediate family to get a university degree.
I have a different piano now, but unfortunately my youngest daughter broke it and I haven't been able to play in the past 2 years. I am hoping that my husband is able to either pay for it to be repaired or replaced soon. I want to be able to play again.
I need to get back to work on an Edwardian walking skirt that I have been trying to work on for over a year. I want a church skirt, and Edwardian clothes are the right length for me. I like my skirts to be down to my shoes.
Your dress was lovely and the venue looked perfect. Real earthy and wholesome. You are truly a beautiful family. 🥰
Love your dress Megan & the fabric ❤..it reminds me of the woods and nymphs story, all the fairy's wore dresses just like yours ☺️ maybe wear it after you have had baby with a sleeveless long crocheted waistcoat type of thing & make it into a boho look 😀 perfect for spring & early autumn.
Your photoshoot pics are going to look spectacular!
The weather is the same here in the uk,1 flake of snow and they call it a national emergency & tell people to stay home 😂,absolutely ridiculous.
We barely get any snow where I am so I often travel 100 or so miles just to have the cosy snow day 😅..only I park up in my camper van and pop the kettle on and watch the snow from the windows 😍..
Great upload Megan.
FYI when using any pattern don’t go by the pattern size but use the measurement’s on the back of the pattern instead.
