SAX: *attacks Samus* Samus: oh crap, it mimicked me with all of my weapons from Zebes. How can I stop... Y-you're not authorized to use those SAX: *stops attacking* Samus: That worked?!
Haha. Adam Malkovich inside the computer could've actually done that, making the SAX a redundant villain. But I'd rather have that not happen. The SAX knows how to make you shit your pants, and that is good character development. Well, "character."
It's good to see all this positive reaction to the new thumbnail template! Again, be sure to give a big thanks to SwitchBack Designs for the great job. He also has a Twitter @The_Switch_Back
Too bad the Finebros have trademarked thumbnails. Expect a cease and desist in the near future. Have a nice day. (Real talk, though: Thumbnails are badass!)
Our new thumbnail template will be applied to every new playthrough starting with Metroid Fusion. Sly 3 and Dead Space will remain without the template for consistency's sake, but we hope this makes it easier for you guys to spot our videos in the primordial ooze that is UA-cam's Subscription Feed. - Johnny
+The Super Gaming Bros. Getting fancy now are we :P and also twisted metal 2, head on, black and the ps3 version any chance for a lets play fot those games? I really wanna see sgb tackle this series
Such an overwhelming response for the new art. Thank you all! Fun fact: This was my first commission job, so I'm very happy to see this response from everyone. :) ~ Brandon
Okay, to explain the SR-388 environment... The station is built to study different creatures. They put together the environment, then hired Samus as protection when they went to the actual planet to gather creatures to populate their artificial habitat. That way, they could study them while in the habitat and not have to worry about any possible danger from the actual planet while studying them.
1) Johnny, the blue suit is canonically called the Fusion Suit. Read the manual. 2) The X parasites attack their prey by assimilating with their targets. So, it would make sense for the Metroids - the natural predators of the X - to possess the antibodies necessary to resist the X's attacks.
The SA-X is such a good idea, it's so creepy and clever because what's more powerful and threatening in this series than samus herself, and now you're part metroid and so weakened you're nothing to it
I honestly love the stealth sections of Zero Mission. They’re so scary and then you get the fully powered suit and wreck the creatures that gave you shit earlier.
To reiterate, the X are "parasites" rather than viral disease, Metroids were already bio-engineered creatures that were made specifically to combat X parasites, Samus and her suit are effectively capable of the same anti-X ability. It's all magical pseudo-science, but it makes sense.
Really dig the new thumbnail guys. Fusion was my introduction to the metroid-vania genre so super psyched to hear you guys talk about it (and help me figure out what to do to get 100% lol).
Alternate universe BrainScratch? Well let's start writing, in my head canon: The world is in ruin after a nuclear explosion caused by Lewis' computer crashing.
I just realized that the whole X parasite outbreak here is probably Samus' fault. Metroids are the primary predator of the X parasites, and she killed all the Metroids, allowing the X parasites to flourish unchallenged.
But it was the Galactic Federation that sent her on that mission if I recall. Could be wrong, but i remember somewhere there being an explanation on that.
+PhenomLinkDX Samus is still directly responsible, though. The joke's that she's a bounty hunter in name only because of all the things she does with the Federation, but she's not really a part of them. She could have turned the job down.
+Count Xero Not exactly realistic to think SAMUS ARAN would turn down a job to destroy a horde of the Chozo creations gone haywire. She'd think it's what they would WANT her to do.
+Count Xero Y'know, now that I think about it, Fusion is the only game that has Samus actively rebel against the Federation. I would like it if future games that take place after Fusion would expand more on this, giving her character development and having her become more of the general definition of a bounty hunter.
+Gmaniac01 Like they said, this is the first Metroid game to have a major sense of plot in the game itself. I personally don't mind it because in other Metroid games, I got lost on where I need to go and in this game since it's more linear, I could easily get from place to place no problem and is why I love this game dearly.
+BlueBlur86CP Metroid is weird for me, I love the atmosphere of the series, yet the gameplay isn't my thing. I much prefer watching people play Metroid than playing it myself.
Totally agree with Johnny's metroid entry guide. Tried playing Prime as a kid and could never get into it. Then later bought Fusion at a thrift shop and loved it. Bought Super soon after and then fell in love with both it and Prime. The GBA games really are fantastic gateways.
In echoes, her upgrades were taken after she was attacked by the ing. But that is the only metroid game aside from fusion to explain how she lost her upgrades.
Finally an LP where not only the commentary is funny and good, but the gameplay is really good. I mean you are practically speedrunning this game and doing everything right. Props to you
Hate to be a huge nerd, but whatever: Metroids were not the NATURAL enemy of the X. Metroids were created by the Chozo to combat the threat of the X. Mother-brain was created so that the Metroids wouldn't attack indiscriminately, which didn't work out when Mother-brain herself turned on the Chozo. Also I hope that the Metroid manga gets localized and sold in the West one day, cause it delves deep into Samus's past.
I'd say Samus is a Bounty Hunter through and through. Bounty Hunters *do* take their jobs primarilly from the legal system. Remember, a Bounty Hunter only takes down Fugitives. They can't do shit until the government brands a fugitive as such and the Government is usually the one that sends the Bounty Hunters on their way. If Samus was taking jobs from 3rd parties like private corporations or rich assholes, she'd be more like a Hitman.
+AlluMan96 Also, funny thing about Metroids; They're artificial lifeforms. Created by the Chozo as a weapon against the X Parasites. That was they're whole purpose. What they did with the Metroid sample in the operation room, how I always thought that worked was that they "Spliced" Samus' DNA with a Metroid's DNA. Essentually biologically engineered her DNA with traits from a Metroid's own. So, the idea behind that was, instead of the usual medicine idea of just inserting a counter-measure into her body temporarilly, they give Samus a natural organic-function to devour X Parasites, altering how her body works entirely.
CharacterLimits I say Hitman, because most of Samus' missions up to this point have been a "search and destroy" or otherwise related to the need of extreme force. Yeah, that's way more of a contradiction to the definition of a Bounty Hunter. They're suppoest to just apprehend people skipping out court after paying a bail. I doubt missiles and lasers have ever been needed for a job like that. I also can't say mercenary, because this isn't a matter of warfare. Bottom line, fiction has destroyed any meaning behind words like Bounty Hunter, Assassin, Merc or whatever to the common man not associated in these lines of work. In the end, I'd rather Samus just hook up with the Federation. I mean, you see Bounty Hunters in Sci-fi settings all the damn time, but in contrast, how many Space-cops are there? Much more unique, and it connects more closely to the every-man, leaving a layer of connection to Samus. Then again, with the progression of Fusion's plot, I suppose Samus'll have to be a on-the-run fugitive in future games.
Granted, it's best to say Nintendo just doesn't know what a bounty hunter does. Because someone (we want to say Retro) pitch a game of Samus doing bounty hunter jobs, and Nintendo said no because of how they saw Samus.
Been waiting since October but I didn't mind, I'm already enjoying this, and neat thumbnail btw I just beat this a month ago 100% under two hours for the first time, it was awesome, I will predict this run will be finished in seven parts, a guess but I'm rooting for ya Johnny!
13:14 It is revealed later on that there are 10 SA-X on the ship. I wonder what would have happened had Samus absorbed them all. Would she have gained her standard varia suit back?
Very nice thumbnail template guys, it looks cool as winter ! Also, Uncle Greg in a Let's Play ? This one will have a very special place on this channel and in your suscribers... heart lol ?
What a great thumbnail! I'm really excited for this playthrought, Fusion's my personal favorite game in the series, even if I go back the Super Metroid more often.
Johnny, the blue suit is officially called the Fusion Suit. In the Metroid Prime Trilogy the unlock calls it the Fusion Suit. There's a trophy is Brawl that also refers to the suit as the Fusion Suit. It was never called that in Metroid Fusion but that is the name of the suit. Also, I swear that in Smash 4 you're not playing as Samus when you pick her, but rather the SA-X or a robot. My reason for believing this is because when she gets killed by turning into a star she doesn't scream, instead you hear this weird noise which kind of sounds like it came from a robot.
Nothing like a new LP for the new month! (And on my birthday, no less!) Also, I love the new thumbnail design! I wish I could make anything half as professional as that.
Wow. You're just plain bull rushing straight through this, aren't you? I'll admit, as the first Metroid game I ever played as a kid (2002 would have been...12? Yeah, 12...though I can't remember if that was the exact age I got the game and played it. Got Prime around the same time, so I...think it was?), major nostalgia feels, here. I'd say it was a pretty good introduction to the series, personally. Oh, and the slime-zombies? Those are puddles of slime infected by X-Parasites who have absorbed human DNA. It's supposed to make them more battle-capable. I think.
Coyote Starrk the miz isn't cool, he's a grade A douchenozzle. he's a mega douche master 9000. fuck the miz is basically what I'm saying. he's got good in-ring ability, and his ability to make us utterly despise him is something to give that bastard credit for.
Well Johnny, Samus' Helmet looks a lot like a metriod, and i it is one of those Organic pieces, then it explains why it changed with the Metriod DNA and those 3 lights on her back look alot like those 3 dots in the Metriods bubble.. thing. Its implied that the DNA changed her organic suit pieces to be more metriod like
Since Metroids are Ultra-Omnivores and Samus is now part Metroid, Does the mean Samus is now the Rogue of the Nintendo? I mean the Marvel character btw.
Just two comments for the moment; first, Samus is working for BSL when she's escorting those two on SR388, not GF. Second, those slime zombies are X who have recorded human DNA (the scientists from BSL) possessing those slime balls. It's basically the slime's attempt to be human.
So looking forward to this let's play!! I love Metroid Fusion so much, as it was my first Metroid game I ever played as a kid. Johnny, ever considered doing a Donkey Kong marathon? I personally would love to see a DK64 review from you, as it is one of my all time favourite games also.
Arachnus isn't really that random. He tends to follow a pattern. Attack with slash, roll into a ball, fire ball, repeat. Its usually how I see it. It may switch it up, but after either a fireball or slash attack, it does immediately go to ball form.
Late in replying but in the instruction manual the Suit Samus uses is called the Fusion Suit and it also explains the slime zombies, basically the X Parasite infested a slime creature before infesting the scientists and the X copied over the Slime creature dna either on purpose or by accident.
Samus does mention hunting bounties in super metroid, and apparently retro was going to put bounty missions in Prime 3 but Nintendo said no. Apparently, the Japanese developers thought a Bounty hunter was like Boba Fett from Star Wars; someone in a cooler suit than the average military guys. They didn't realize that a bounty hunter is more like a kidnapper/assasin for hire
I think they recreated the environment because they went to study SR388 creatures in a controlled environment aboard the B.S.L. I think they got Samus to help because she's problably the only human who knows how to navigate the planet
BrainScratch Lords... Sounds like a fanfic that either Elliot, Matt, or Ted could write. In fact, someone out there should make it! Sonic CD X BrainScratch Commentaries
Ah Fusion... this is the second Metroid game that I ever played and while it took a while for me to beat, it was no where near as long as how long it took me to beat Super Metroid [5 Years for Super, 6 months or so for Fusion... yeah, I tended to be quite easily spooked as a kid). Honestly, if I had to say, this would be a good game to get into the series with alongside Zero Mission.
SAX: *attacks Samus*
Samus: oh crap, it mimicked me with all of my weapons from Zebes. How can I stop...
Y-you're not authorized to use those
SAX: *stops attacking*
Samus: That worked?!
Haha. Adam Malkovich inside the computer could've actually done that, making the SAX a redundant villain. But I'd rather have that not happen. The SAX knows how to make you shit your pants, and that is good character development. Well, "character."
GoldRelicEra Like the Borg in that she does't need emotion, just terrifyingly unyielding force.
+theSuper1Player I'll admit, knowing a little about other m, that made me laugh, especially considering this is after other m.
Or you could throw it against a wall XD
Nani?!?
Best Metroid meme ever is from after Dread came out:
Samus: “Ah, my genealogy results are in.”
Paper: “What the fuck?”
It's good to see all this positive reaction to the new thumbnail template! Again, be sure to give a big thanks to SwitchBack Designs for the great job. He also has a Twitter @The_Switch_Back

What happened to clockwork knight 2 may I ask?
+The Super Gaming Bros. Definitely going to him in the future for designs. Thanks guys!
+The Super Gaming Bros. sry johnny but I trademarked the word "Metroid" i'm afraid I'm gonna have to sue you now.
+Flame of Udun Thank you! :)
Wait... The Uncle? The fabled provider of games to Johnny? (Bows)
Our new thumbnail template will be applied to every new playthrough starting with Metroid Fusion. Holy sexy thumbnail, batman.

Thank you for this its really hard to find your videos at some point
+The Super Gaming Bros. Johnny, did you know that Metroid Zero Mission is now on the Wii U Eshop?
+The Super Gaming Bros. That thumbnail template looks awesome.
Such an overwhelming response for the new art. Thank you all!
Fun fact: This was my first commission job, so I'm very happy to see this response from everyone. :)
~ Brandon
Your first commission? I don't believe that. :)
Your the one responsible you the new thumbnail design!?
Nice job!
With this new thumbnail template, I feel like this begins a new era of SGB! Like a new season has begun!!
Season 3 or 4
+Jack Noir Season 4
Okay, to explain the SR-388 environment...

"She's now *part* Metroid"
Well Dread makes it so it's not "part" but she *IS* a Metroid.
“You wouldn’t download a missile launcher”
Yeah the fuck I would

Johnny: Never will you find another Metroid game where Samus is as vulnerable as she is in Fusion.
MercurySteam: *Challenge accepted*
What's this? A good game, a guest star in addition to the main trio, and it's... wow, best Monday ever!
"There was a time in our lives where we got TWO Metroid game releases"
History was bound to repeat itself
pecanrockin federation force, Samus returns and prime 4 😎
Well, dont you feel validated
@@Orbaxun.Grolvo.3rd.company yeah prime 4...
And then history would repeat itself yet again, except this time it took a year and a half between games
Johnny: "This is 100%"

I honestly love the stealth sections of Zero Mission. They’re so scary and then you get the fully powered suit and wreck the creatures that gave you shit earlier.

Oh yeah! Time to watch Johnny blaze through another Metroid game!
P.S. Love the new thumbnail.
+Errox025 "Johnny Blaze"
*Slowly smiling wide to for a Shit eating grin.*
+computermonster1 So, how about that Arbiter reveal?
DarKnightSpider EEEEEH, not big on Halo, but its a nice addition.
+Errox025 Thank you!
+computermonster1 I cannot wait to play on the Arbiter's stage, it looks really nice.
I gotta say: I'm digging the new title card layout. Also, Johnny's uncle's here? This should be interesting. :)
HUBBIE, please! Uncle was his Uncle's name.
Call him....."Greg."
He NEEDS to be in more playthroughs.
+Hub Pie The new title card looks awesome and Greg is a welcome addition.
0:23 oh look its Brain Scratch Labratories
I’m here to say that after 20 year
A sequel to Metroid fusion has been released: Metroid Dread
Hard to believe this game is now on the switch
I just realized that the whole X parasite outbreak here is probably Samus' fault. Metroids are the primary predator of the X parasites, and she killed all the Metroids, allowing the X parasites to flourish unchallenged.
Hindsight can be a bitch sometimes. Lol
But it was the Galactic Federation that sent her on that mission if I recall. Could be wrong, but i remember somewhere there being an explanation on that.
+PhenomLinkDX

"Back in the day, we didn't have cracks in the wall, and we liked it!" That's what you call "Stockholm Syndrome". :P
As the lore goes, the bits of yellow you can see are the parts of the "fusion suit" and the blue layer is a coating of metroid cells
The X are basically The Thing.
The G rated version of the thing
Or the Klyntar from Marvel
SGB is finally doing Metroid Fusion and they have brought the legendary uncle with them. This is going to be awesome!
I may not be the biggest Metroid fan, but I have to admit that this looks fun to play.
It's very beginner friendly. I played it basically blind and I loved it. First Metroid game I beat and I fell in love.
+Gmaniac01 Like they said, this is the first Metroid game to have a major sense of plot in the game itself. I personally don't mind it because in other Metroid games, I got lost on where I need to go and in this game since it's more linear, I could easily get from place to place no problem and is why I love this game dearly.
Gmaniac01 I gotcha. Just slows down the pacing and all. I respect that. I never played Zero Mission at this time but I plan on doing so in the future.
+BlueBlur86CP Metroid is weird for me, I love the atmosphere of the series, yet the gameplay isn't my thing. I much prefer watching people play Metroid than playing it myself.
Perfect for getting into the series.
Totally agree with Johnny's metroid entry guide. Tried playing Prime as a kid and could never get into it. Then later bought Fusion at a thrift shop and loved it. Bought Super soon after and then fell in love with both it and Prime. The GBA games really are fantastic gateways.
SolidSnake684 That's how I was introduced. Fusion to this day is my favorite.
+Takaithepanda
The same for me!
What's this? The Galactic Federation wants Samus to do their work for them again? Who would've guessed.
Am I the only one who is excited for the chance of new Metroid Prime: Federation Force news sometime this year?
4:35 or more likely, become *M-M-M-MONGOOSE MASTER!*
*HALF HUMAN, HALF MONGOOSE! ALL SUPERHERO!*
The uncle. The holy bestower of games to our lord johnny. (Bows in respect)
Liking the new thumbnail design. Its simple, clean, but very recognizable.
Samus, how did you lose your suit and weapons between games?
Elsewhere...
Killer Croc: I threw a rock at 'em!
In echoes, her upgrades were taken after she was attacked by the ing. But that is the only metroid game aside from fusion to explain how she lost her upgrades.
Metroid fusion will go on record as being one of two metroid games I can enjoy, the other being prime
Finally an LP where not only the commentary is funny and good, but the gameplay is really good. I mean you are practically speedrunning this game and doing everything right. Props to you
My favourite 2d metroid: love the story and atmosphere (mostly for the SA-X) and that it does say hey plot's that way
Hate to be a huge nerd, but whatever:
Metroids were not the NATURAL enemy of the X.
Didn't Dread recon the Mother Brain thing?
MY BOY SWITCHBACK MADE IT
I'd say Samus is a Bounty Hunter through and through. Bounty Hunters *do* take their jobs primarilly from the legal system. Remember, a Bounty Hunter only takes down Fugitives. +AlluMan96 I just hope all of that DNA in her does not mess her up or mutate her.
CharacterLimits
I say Hitman, because most of Samus' missions up to this point have been a "search and destroy" or otherwise related to the need of extreme force.
Then again Star Wars Bounty Hunters go under a different definition as well and act more like mercenaries. So maybe its just a different galaxy thing.
Granted, it's best to say Nintendo just doesn't know what a bounty hunter does. Because someone (we want to say Retro) pitch a game of Samus doing bounty hunter jobs, and Nintendo said no because of how they saw Samus.
Vary nice with all the new stuff you guys got with the new mics and the thumbnail and logo.
Hence, the new era of SGB has begun, new mic setup and a new thumbnail.
AWESOME !!
Well, i wasn't expecting the "I'm Greg" but it is welcome with a really big hug.
Metroid Prime calls it the Fusion Suit when you unlock it for your second playthrough.
Been waiting since October but I didn't mind, I'm already enjoying this, and neat thumbnail btw
I just beat this a month ago 100% under two hours for the first time, it was awesome, I will predict this run will be finished in seven parts, a guess but I'm rooting for ya Johnny!
What Johnny said about two metroid games at the same time takes on a whole other meaning considering E3 2017
The thirst was real for this recording. Now, it's quenched as of e3 ;3
Ah my first and favorite metroid game I still remember first getting this game and loving it to death (btw that new thumbnail looks fucking awesome)
I'm really digging the thumbnail design guys :3
13:14 It is revealed later on that there are 10 SA-X on the ship. I wonder what would have happened had Samus absorbed them all. Would she have gained her standard varia suit back?
Always love when you gain the boss's ability after beating it, you beat the rolling turtle guy, you can roll in a ball. Bravely default loves that
Fusion was the first metroid game I played, and I still love it to this day.

Hello Mr. Purple, it's good to see you again. Anybody who gets that reference is awesome.
Thank you Johnny for the LP & the recommendation of a Metroid game. I will start with fusion.
This new thumbnail looks awesome, especially with the Metroid Fusion cover
In brawl a trophy called it the fusion suit.
Finally someone switches the audio to stereo!!!
And as great as Super is, I agree with Johnny, this is way more fun to play, speedrun, & 100%.
Nothing like a new LP for the new month! (And on my birthday, no less!)
Also, I love the new thumbnail design! I wish I could make anything half as professional as that.
Professional thumbnail!!! Finally!!
In Prime 1 it's called the Fusion Suit
My all time favorite metroid game. Thank you SGB.

I agree with zero mission and fusion being beginner freindly. super metroid is kinda tricky to play as you're first metroid game.
So looking forward to this let's play!! I love Metroid Fusion so much, as it was my first Metroid game I ever played as a kid. Johnny, ever considered doing a Donkey Kong marathon? I personally would love to see a DK64 review from you, as it is one of my all time favourite games also.

Greetings ladies and gentlemen, I'm Johnny. I'm Elliot I'm Matt. I'm Greg- Where did you come from!?
Johnny had no idea about e3 2017
Late in replying but in the instruction manual the Suit Samus uses is called the Fusion Suit and it also explains the slime zombies, basically the X Parasite infested a slime creature before infesting the scientists and the X copied over the Slime creature dna either on purpose or by accident.
Nice! I always loved playing this game.
I love this game. Played it with the 3DS Ambassador Program and loved it. Beat it 3 times (never 100%) and haven't looked back since.
I like the new thumbnail format!
LOVE THE NEW THUMBNAILS!! :D
Well Federation Force is on the horizon now and who knows what will happen?
But I think it's best not to question and shut up.
XD every time i see the Sa-x and its playing epic sax guy i laugh my ass off
Remember when Nintendo use to make Metroid games?
:0 They did!?
That random clang at the end though. XD
I think they recreated the environment because they went to study SR388 creatures in a controlled environment aboard the B.S.L. I think they got Samus to help because she's problably the only human who knows how to navigate the planet
If Samus is part metroid now does that mean she'll try to eat people's faces?
theSuper1Player she doesn’t have there urges
I played this on an emulator a few years ago and enjoyed it, but never really had the desire to go back.
For anyone who doesn't know, the SA-X is one of the most FEARED video game characters.
