⭐️Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
Born in Ueno Zoo on July 3, 2000.
His father is Biju and his mother is Momoko.
His father died before he was born and he grew up never knowing his father.
He came to Kyoto City Zoo in 2010 and is now a father of two sons.
⭐️Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Born on June 24, 1986 at the Kyoto City Zoo.
Her father is Mack and her mother is Hiromi.
When she was 10 years old, she went to Ueno Zoo for breeding purposes.
But she had a bad relationship with another female gorilla, and she injured her fingers and toes with her self-mutilation and lost a lot of weight.
When she returned to her hometown of Kyoto City Zoo, she was fine, and she lived with various male gorillas.
Then she met Momotaro and she gave birth to two lovely sons whom she lovingly raised.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at the Kyoto City zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
He is very close with his younger brother Kintaro and they play together almost every day.
⭐️Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at Kyoto City Zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.

Thank you for posting this delightful video. It’s nice to see the family in a peaceful state, and a rare treat to witness Momotaro’s playfulness with his rascally son, Kintaro. Labeling this video "hugs", "beloved", and "cute" needs a question mark. Is there something out of the gorilla norm with Momotaro's behavior; even Kintaro senses it and is trying to get away/stay away (5:10) from Momotaro. Is there some stress or tensions within the troop or their environment that's affecting Momotaro?
These videos just shows us part of their life, there are sure much more to see which would explain some reactions and consequences we couldn't understand 😮 By the way Momotaro is a very special case, as you must (if not telling you here) he spended his midlifetime by his own and the other one breeded by just females which makes unpredictible and ignorant, luckly he seems to have good feelings after all but some questions are outta his possibilities so he obeys his instincts, besides Genki is crazy 😢
His father died before he was born. He grew up alone with mother without a silverback or other male to learn from. Because he was the only male by age 10 he became a silverback very early
@@brovaco gorillas in captivity are very different to gorillas in the wild, they're prone to display the abnormal behavior. It is incorrect to point out at them saying "it is their normal gorilla way" without adding "in captivity"

I was fearful it would be the younger son , the dad hugged. Dad really does not know that his elder son is his. Because the elder son missed the bonding time when the staff had to save that babes life by feeding him in those critical first months.
I wonder how this applies to human fathers who have to work full time when a newborn is kept in NICU for 6+ months. Maybe zoo’s and NICU’s can learn from this, and adaptations can be
made to help solve this sad situation.😅

What ppl think is “trying to mate” is not that but the one of higher ranking showing the other their higher authority. Many times you will see the lower ranking turn around and show the higher ranking their backside, showing their agreement of the hierarchy. He’s not trying to mate with his son. And yes, many times they do that “humping” as well. Read up on that, most non human primates do that.
He's not mating he's showing dominance.
