I expect two things from this update: 1- weapons that increase damage directly proportional to the amount of energy we generate; 2- a 100% built dyson sphere releasing a devastating attack to end the base of dark fog in that entire universe.
The second one is pretty overkill tbh. Maybe instead make the dyson sphere have an interstellar defense system that can intercept Dark Fog that are hyperspacing within like 8ly of the star system, or something.
@@That_Montage_Nerd Even that may be too powerful to be fun. I think something akin to the lasers used by The Fog at the end of this trailer, but controlled by players would be cool. Replacing some parts of the sphere with energy relays and sending mirrors/some-thechno-BS-name into orbit that would redirect that energy at the enemies.
Pt 2 of that would be too much by far, instead make the energy requirements of some of the more powerful weapons and defenses require a lot of energy, enough to justify a Dyson sphere. For example, you could integrate a planetary/system shield that requires nearly the output of the entire Dyson sphere to power, and as it takes damage its power requirement increases by a lot. The idea of this would be to give the player a good amount of warning that the enemy is trying to attack you before they get through and can actively engage your defenses. An additional idea would be using antimatter to both fuel and be the ammunition for massive warships that can take the fight to them. Superweapons are interesting and all but I believe they should be a very late-game thing and you only really need to visit a few systems to get a Dyson sphere going. Instead, I think that superweapons should require loads of rare materials like the unipolar magnets found around black holes and other such rescores, that way you can still have them but they would require you to get into a lot of fights to obtain them, and even then they should come with downsides. For example, a Nicoll-Dyson-Beam as another person suggested would of course destroy the entire system and render all of the planets unusable and bereft of resources. Thats just my opinion on it tho.
Ok I was hesitant about the entire feature until you told me that icurus can auto rebuild destroyed items. Can't wait to do a new playthru once it's updated
What is happening to this game, from peacefully exploring space and building monumental structures to fighting nonsensical battles against some unknown force? Edit: Forget it, there is an option to turn it off, this makes it a great addition for those seeking more adventure! Keep up the work!
As I understand it, yes. Though I only heard second-hand. Which is fairly reassuring to me, it means there’s a good chance that my long-play game won’t be broken by this update. If it is, oh well. Start again. :)
I'm really hoping we'll be able to also turn our old infrastructure against them - especially the Dyson Swarm and Sphere itself (What happens when all the satellites in the dyson swarm focus their beams on a single structure?), but also the EM-rail launchers, and the launching silos. An extension goal after the game is complete might be construction in space itself on space habitats.
@@QuestionableObject There's lots of fun stuff you can do with a dyson swarm other than generating power. You can focus the beams back onto the star to cause huge temperature fluctuations that throws out enormous plumes of burning hydrogen that can be used to power among other things famously Kurgezagt's giant thruster for the entire solar system. Or use the energy to power particle colliders to transmute materials into different materials.
