It certainly is! They people seem to forget that black people sold their own people to the slavers. How do they think they got them on the ship. They had them tied up and waiting to go. Nigeria had a huge slave trade. Give us a break. In Ireland illegals protested they should be allowed to stay in Ireland because there were Irish illegals in America. Bloody cheek! but they got an amnesty.

British colonialism caused at least 100 million deaths in India in roughly 40 years, according to an academic study.
And during nearly 200 years of colonialism, the British empire stole at least $45 trillion in wealth from India, a prominent economist has calculated.
“This figure is larger than the combined number of deaths from both World Wars, including the Nazi holocaust,” they noted.
This staggering figure does not include the tens of millions more Indians who died in human-made famines that were caused by the British empire.
In the notorious Bengal famine in 1943, an estimated 3 million Indians starved to death, while the British government exported food and banned grain imports.
Academic studies by scientists found that the 1943 Bengal famine was not a result of natural causes; it was the product of the policies of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
      Enough praise?

HAHAHA, One hell of a bullshit line. First off, the ONLY reason Brits claim to have "ended slavery" was because of greed, not because of some humanitarian effort. The Brits were the driving force behind starting the Trans Atlantic slave trade, and profited greatly from it, and when my cunt of a country, were colonies and then told ya'll to bugger off we're making our own racist country, we started making bank from all the free labor on our cotton and tobacco farms. Who did what first though? The U.S. abolished the use of the slave trade a month before the Brits did in 1807, but from 1791 to 1807 the Brits made over 1500 trips to the African coast obtaining and selling over 650k slaves.
Don't worry, my country didn't do it for moral reasons either, they had imported so many slaves by then, we didn't need anymore imported. You think the middle passage stories are gut wrenching, there's a gruesome but well written book by Sowande' M. Mustakeem, a college professor from my home town of St. Louis, that also rights about why the U.S. didn't need to import slaves any longer. Lets just say that there were plantations where there was nothing organic growing from the ground, just in the belly's of slaves.
And the Brits sold many slaves to the U.S. who was the only country that practiced chattel slavery on a wide scale. Yes the U.K. "abolished" it first, but it wasn't codified until 1953, under Article 4 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and wasn't incorporated directly into United Kingdom law until 1998!!!! Oh but the Brits did pay reparations, I tip my hat to them for that, in fact they just paid the note off in 2015 on the 20million pounds borrowed back then to do so, 16.5Billion pounds in today's money.....Oh wait, stand by.....what?? STFU!! WHAT!!???......Ok, disregard that, the Brits did pay reparations, but it was to the slave owners, that lost money due to the loss of their property, ooops, sorry, I mean the abolishment of slavery. So sad.
What's next, ya gonna tell me why a month long funeral fest was needed for that cunt, Queen Lizzy?? 😂🤣😂

    • @intellect1st122

Your spin is incorrect and untrue!
British Slave owners argued that their slaves were merely property and not classed as humans and as such taking away their property meant they should be given compensation for their loss, most of the politicians and lords negotiating and agreeing how much compensation would be agreed, owned slaves themselves so it was in their own best interests to negotiate as much compensation as possible.
The compensation was paid out by bonds and through everyone's taxes up until 2015 which meant several generations of blacks whose great grandparents had been slaves, were paying compensation to slave owners and and families who had enslaved their grandparents families..~

@@EarthtoAdam95 of course slavery always existed - it's in the Bible where the Hebrew God explains the rules for keeping slaves.
However, what happened in the 18th century was an industrialization of slavery on a scale not seen before. At least not since the Roman empire. This established slave economies in Brazil, the Carribbean and Southern States. I refer to them as slave economies, because that's what they were - the economy and the means of production were focused on slavery. And Britain was fundamental setting this up.

@@wodenbyers2793 also "pretty sure" for that I mean certain, that British slave owners bequeathed huge amounts of money and buildings and scholarships, for the EDUCATION of British, Americans, Africans, Indian, Pakistani etc. They knew slavery was wrong, and before they died, they gave away their wealth in huge swathes. 3000 British sailors died engaging with Slave ships from Africa. They gave their lives to defend black slaves. Britain still polices the High Seas to stop slavery. Britain and British people have given Africa Millions to support African people now. From Primary 1 at school, we were asked to bring in pennies for African babies. This has happened since early 1900s. We are encouraged to support Africa. As adults we support children, grandparents and women to start up businesses. All our friends do this too, as we have been doing it from 5 years of age. Why Africans attack Europe and America but not the Arabic Muslims? because many African countries are Islamic or have many Muslims, so they don't attack their brothers and is easier to attack the Western people than the Muslims, they'll not allow that.

History is increasingly written from the American perspective, so it's only the British part in the slave trade that gets mentioned, with the added factor that it gives Americans somebody else to blame for it, rather than their desire to own slaves. There was no slave trade within Britain, which seems to come as a surprise to Americans, who believe we had millions of slaves working in the UK too.

It really started in 1792 when Royal Navy ships transported 1,300 escaped slaves from Canada back to West Africa - more precisely Freetown, the capital of modern day Sierra Leone. Freetown is called Freetown because the British guaranteed it a safe haven for freed slaves, the only place on the West African coast where Africans, under protection of the British, were free to live their lives without risk of being kidnapped again and returned into slavery. Freetown later became the base from where the West Africa Squadron would, in its 50-year crusade patrolling the North Atlantic, eventually rescue 160,000 kidnapped Africans bound for slavery in the Americas. Some of the slaves freed from slave traders' vessels even volunteered to become paid sailors of the Royal Navy and go back out to sea to help capture slave ships and free their fellow Africans.

The only reason I sometimes think that people are not taught the true history of slavery is to divide us. Except that it didn't stop slavery in all places under British rule and the paying off bit has two issues:
1/ the money wasn't to actually help slaves or even free them but to *reimburse slave owners* so they would stop calling their slaves 'slaves' but now call them 'apprentices'. Those apprentices were forced to do the same work for the same amount of time for the same people in the same place in the same conditions. But hey, at least they weren't called slaves anymore, eh?
2/ Although theoretically it took till 2015 to pay of the debt when you look into the matter you'll notice a few things. Things such as the times that for a few decades at a time nothing was done to lessen the debt or the fact that the debt was kept on the books for accounting reasons because it constituted a low interest loan that could be tapped into by the subsequent governments.
In short, the debt could have been paid off more than a century earlier.
But hey, let's ignore all that because the Brits desperately need something to feel good about after it became clear that Brexit is a xenophobic shit show and calling refugees illegal immigrants comes across as racist.

If somebody was giving free gold away, there would be a queue the length of the country. African Kings virtually did this, and so many businessmen and nations grabbed as much as was offered. England even had to borrow to help end slavery. This debt was not completely paid off until 2016

Congrats, you fell for the half truths and lies spewed by right wing nationalist and white supremacists.
How about you actual read up who got paid, why they got paid and what the result of it all was to those that were already slaves. Hint : eff all.

You are two of the greatest women of our recent hisrory to hear this and understand what happened back then wasn't racial it was economic and about money👌❤. I love all people on this earth but Africans have a special place in my heart and mind I have no idea what it felt like to be a slave but we can all agree that slavery was a nightmare that no human being should ever experience. 👌💜. Britain led the way in abolishing slavery. We should not apologise to anyone , especially Africa who sold their own people.

I remember having this in a history lesson in the 60s it got to me then at the age of 6/7. I still get the same feeling I had then! I feel for the people of these countries which were taken for slaves and I'm positive it would've been against their will. 😢😢😢 No amount of money or prestige is worth the life of another human being. I'm from the UK.

They used to. I started school in England in 1982. We were taught from historical records, books and scholar papers. Back when we had to actually go to libraries to find relevant information to research and report on.
      I'm grateful for this.
It's truly worrying how obfuscated and revised history has become to fit a political bias. In the tech info age, accurate information can so easily be manipulated.
It is encouraging to see a wave of revelation in so many people now seeking out the facts that have deliberately been hidden, altered and downright rewritten in recent times. Feels somewhat akin to a knowledge revolution that is much needed.

I’m so glad that you both listened to this long Video. I have always been sad because I come from Liverpool. A lot of people got very rich because of slavery, it was on my conscience.
I have never been Racist because some ones else’s skin is a different colour , how could that work, aside from said I come from Liverpool. A strong port bringing everything into the country, lots of people from Africa China people from all over the world. I became a nurse + did 5 years of training and was lucky enough to work with Jamaicans , Africans and people from all over the world.
Now one of my daughters chose a man from Mali and the other from Guadeloupe .
We have 5 grand children some that are darker others lighter all beautiful shades of brown and I am very happy.
I have spent years and years trying to get brown, I wonder if some racists are envious of your beauty . I don’t know if anyone has thought of that when my little Aissa comes I see her so happy, we are a mixed family with some Japanese thrown in as well .
You are both beautiful just keep listening and don’t give up whatever your dreams are I hope they all come true. Where are you ? Love ❤️ ❤❤from Gay and all her family
There is a very good museum of Slavery in Liverpool on the docks well worth a visit, although to see how slaves suffered brings a lot of pain.😍
