  • This is a compilation of 3 excursion trips on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad (Former Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad POTB) from the engine crews perspective on the McCloud River Railroad's #25 2-6-2 Steam Locomotive. All 3 videos have been spliced together to show the half hour long one way trip from Garibaldi OR. to Rockaway Beach OR. from different perspectives of the locomotive to include: The outside of the cab on the Firemans side, The Tender showing the whole cab, and the Firemans Point of View (POV). You will notice that the weather does change between some of the clips, that is because the first trip of the day was overcast while the second and third trips were sunny and clear skies.

How wonderful to come across this, especially with the fireman's seat view! I both fired and ran an ex-FEC light Pacific oil burner in Florida for quite a few years in the late 1980s/early 90s, and how wonderfully familiar this view is! I miss running my old engine. Alas she has been out of service for a few decades now, and would need well over 1M to get her rehabbed/rebuilt; engine has been for sale for a few years now. What I wouldn't give to be at a steam throttle again, or heck, "just" be fireman for a day again.
Also, so nice to see a excellent fireman at work who knows how to keep a clean stack at all times. I trained several new firemen in this art. I make exceptions for flue sanding.

Glad to hear! I've got another video uploading soon with one of the other steam locomotives on our roster. And yes, I prefer a clean stack. In my honest opinion a huge black smoke cloud looks bad. Except for when it's a big black cloud of soot to show how much crap the sanding process got out!

That track looks rough in places, the cab view from the tender really shows the locomotive moving around. Thanks for the ride

It is a little rough in some spots. We repair track as manpower, time, and funds for materials allows. We've been focusing on the bridges on our main runs.
