My favorite uncle Ricky will you tell us a bedtime story please please! “Ya all tucked in? Here we go…” and teenage love that when music was really real! It started with love and will end with love all this calling it music from the devil don’t get it twisted the devil had the most beautiful voice in heaven. The devil can come through the pulpit! Music calms and soothes as well as lift you and pump you up too! I do see how that can be used by satan to control people but it ain’t the only way!
Slick Ricky D & it ain’t even close...side note in rap you lose points for lack of originality. Rick broke boundaries in the art of story telling. Slick Rick even did a song where he broke down the biblical Exodus entitled “Moses.” Truly a brilliant song.
@@MRJ2di same here brother, it’s a shame that he doesn’t get as much credit for that song when it’s just as great as all the commercially successful joints he has. The melody he raps on is great, because people can have fun while learning at the same time.
As a 90s kid, I should go with snoop but Slick Rick all day. Slick's storytelling is the epitome of the Golden era of Rap, you can hear it, imagine it, and ride with it til the present. Even at their age now, Slick Rick will demolish Snoop. I describe Snoop nowadays as the gateway to mumble rap since he never matured and never grew up, a grandfather that still talks about the same thing when he was in his 20s.
Slick Rick without a doubt! He is the original nobody can do that like him they can make it their own but nothing like his. Snoop had it easy cuz we all liked Slick Rick! He had a catapult! This was when HipHop was about love and then it was about crack and now it about everything all mixed up with a little of everything.
Snoop Dogg version was the illest!! Everybody was bumpin that through they four 10s they had in their trunk. You can't bump Slick Rick version in your car, his version is good for a house party. Most of yall saying Slick Rick version is better bc yall don't like Snoop right now. Ask that same question in 1993, 90% of yall would say Snoop version is better. Plus Snoop was doing the song to pay homage to Slick Rick
Meanwhile while I'm grading which version is better I heard atleast 3 other songs that took lines from Slick Rick's version. That alone let's you know which version is better...
Snoop’s version was one of the very first rap songs that i learned by heart. Today i can’t believe that i was 9 years old, reciting those lyrics. Never in front of my parents though. 😆😄
Ricky D, it was used and sampled in so many songs. Even Color Me Badd sampled that Tic Toc you don't stop. Biz Markie has part 4 young girl bluez i guess.

Give me my Slick Rick and Dougie Fresh any day! This is the rap music I wish was still around today. It is epic and classic all the way! Snoop also did a wonderful version and I want to give him the respect he deserves.
Snoop is not a legend. Just a man that was jealous of 2 pac and Shug paid good money to get him off a sealed murder conviction because he was at the top.at that moment an 2pac ran over him quick when he got signed and this loser wannabe gangster got jealous and caused the death of a true gangster and real rapper
@@bradlincoln8591 WTF does any of this have to do with Slick Rick and Snoop??? 2pac has been gone for almost 30 years and your ass is still bringing up old shit that you won't do a damn thing about besides cry about it and run your mouth..
Rick's version is better but if you've never heard the Snoop version you're def missin out because it's a classic in it's own right and hands down one of the best tracks he ever recorded
Snoop by a landslide!!! I see a lot people may have some bias depending on what era of rap they grew up in but Snoop shit just sonically sounds better. And for all the damn people talking about original, please…99% of rap is sampled and looped music! 🙄
I got Snoop on this one too. Snoop's version was more timeless and still more appealing to the era we in. Slick Rick was too confined to that era and seems to corny and obsolete.

C'mon really....you going there!? They are both good, but my generation of course loves the original and the next generation enjoys Snoops version. There is NO, "who did it better"?🤨
It was too early to remake The slick Rick song when Snoop did it. The original song was only like 8 years old at the time. Most people already knew the original version when Snoop remade it. I didn't think it was that great. Snoop probably didn't even want to do it. It was probably Dre's idea.
Rap of the past was about heavy beats, great story telling, and teaching the kids to stay in school, watch their friends, and listen to their parents. That rap era was the best.
I am 50, and this is the first time that I ever heard Snoop do it. Not only that, it was my first time hearing anything other than the radio version for Slick Rick. With that being said, Slick Rick beats Snoop all day.
Nothing beats the original... Slick Rick/Dougie version was epic..
Agreed.
True
Yup, no matter how good a redoing is, it wouldn't even be possible without it's original maker's creation of it
@@earlpipe9713 but that's not what the question is
Well, I'm going Slick Rick because he's an original and did it first.
True legend!
Yup
The original is bomb. But Snoop killed the remix!!💪💪✌
Without the original version, there would be no Snoop version. But Snoop did it hell of justice so much respect to his version as well.
Snoops a sell out
The Ruler of Storytellers obviously, Uncle Ricky!
