Leo Nucci is magnificent! I'd know that powerful, sonorous voice anywhere! He lives his character on the stage, and his expressive face with the playful smile and twinkling eyes is priceless.
It hurts my ears when I see a mediocre performance of my favorite aria...Horrible and laughable....the baritone really needs to slow down the tempo, otherwise, it starts to sound like some kind of talking / rap.Yuck ! I understand that this iconic opera is among the toughest to perform, but nevertheless...the singers here need to synch with the orchestra. After watching Placido Domingo`s version of the aria in " Hommage a Sevilla ", I do not think that anything in the world can match this.I also do think that Florez is way overrated, although he is a singer from the third world.
Is not Florez the tenor, is Jimenez. and the tempo is fine, the problem is that the are few baritones that really has capability to have coloratura and agility like Nucci and believe me, the speedy part is mean to be at this speed. It calls patter and is classic of Rossini
I find very ironic the fact that you are saying that domingos version is way better despite the fact that he doesnt have the voice for this (yes, he does it for fun) and then said that Florez is from the third world when Domingo learned how to sing in Mexico has mexican nationality too and a statue over there. But I also understand you seem to love music so let me explain. 1) The tempo is fine believe me they just sing it in a different way, maybe you felt those interpretation differences and assumed there was something wrong in the music itself but its ok. 2) Florez is a leggero you cant compare him to heavier tenor such as Domingo, but what you could do is judge them by their own achievements search Florez biography see all the prices and how Domingo gave an interview saying that Florez is the best leggero EVER believe he is not overated just different. What happened is that the voices who brought opera to the common ears were heavy voices such as Domingo (Spinto) or Pavarotti (liric) and the public forgot about the light ones. The same thing happened to the deeper ones most people believe that the better bassos were the heavier ones such as Kurt Moll or Ghiarov and forgot about the bassos cantabiles (light basses) who have beautiful voices too and I say that as a very heavy bass. 3) South América or the "third world" as you called it is not that you are wrong IT IS the third world is just that a lot of asian and even european countrys are also third world so you should say south america to be more precise. Ok anyway south america have always been an excellent producer of tenors such as Francisco Araiza one of the greatest mozart tenors of all time or Javier Camarena such as Florez a great leggero tenor but to be fair south america doesnt do well when it comes to bassos or baritones. Also another third world places around east europe are famous for producing EXCELLENT bassos so there is nothing wrong about that.
Gorgeous performance. Meravigliosi tutti e due, cantanti di razza.

He is so good
che bellezza a piene mani si dispensa da quel palco!
Maestro Gimenez was 55 and he still sang and looked young enough for young Almaviva.
Figaro y Almaviva: maravillosos.
Rossini è un genio!
60-something Figaro, 50-something Count...doesn't matter!

@@esterbruno8604 condivido in pieno
@@esterbruno8604 Comunque, vocalmente, val più un Gimenez di cento Florez (sebbene trovo JDF abbia un'estensione vocale più ampia).
BRAVISSIMI!!!
