In Jr. High, I just loved the songs by Gary Lewis. Little did I know then, that one day I'd actually meet him and get an autograph and picture with him. We met him at the Golden Nugget in Vegas. You can imagine what thrill it was for me, as he was one of my music idols. He even said "This next song (Sure gonna miss her) goes out to Milt from Hawaii. Whooo!!! WHAT A NICE GUY!!!
Could be my favorite song by GL. Written by Roger Cook & Roger Greenaway,, who wrote "You've Got Your Troubles" for the Fortunes, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" and "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress."Spring of 1966 was a great time in my life overall and this song really takes me back.
His mom (Singer Patti Palmer)named him Cary, in tribute to her favourite movie star Cary Grant. Due to a clerical error or someone assuming the C was a G, he was Gary on the birth certificate and it stuck
Did you notice that this new version of this song doesn't use the Cordovox organ . The kind John West played on the record. It's still a good song though
He did play drums for " this diamond ring" but his producers moved him to guitar and center mic and got another drummer..because they thought it would showcase him better as lead vocalist

My favorite from these guys
All these years and he still sounds as good as the original recording. I would love to see him and Herman's Hermits together at a concert.
My favorite song from this great group. Love it all my life.
