- My first time to build a Kitty Hawk Kit, I just love their unique subjects. Sad to say i heard they are closing business.
Kit details are okay but plastic quality is a bit brittle plus their Sprue Organization should have been simpler with a few fit gaps but nothing one can't fix.
In this build, i will share with you my dirt cheap DIY Gap Filler for those nasty gaps and uneven surfaces saving you enough money from buying pricey gap fillers or putties.

Sorry about the engine exhaust stain on Stroke 04, the grey paint was porous enough that greasy handprints and smoke stains were imbedded. The maintenance senior chief once asked why fresh touchup paint was much brighter than the rest and I had to tell him there was no stock number for dirt and grime color, this after it was just washed. Only way to really clean it was to use Turco soap and a scrub pad or fine Scotchbrite pads to get down to the clean. California EPA rules sucked and made it difficult to maintain the aircraft.

Hi Bryan. For canopies i use several: 1. Hardware Grade Glazing Putty, Common White Glue or Micro Kristal Clear. For the Fuselage small gaps - stretched sprue and larger gaps with super glue + baby powder. All needs sanding. Hope this helped Bryan.
