    Ron, How do you not stop in between steps, for at least a day or two, just to sit and gawk at your craftiness? I'm amazed by your fortitude, as well as your know-how and ability. Many thanks my friend! :D

    I have a non-functioning wood burning fireplace and I would like to go with ventless logs. Does the vertical outlet in the fireplace get closed off when these are installed? Does there need to be any kind of outlet at all?

    • @B4BoomersBlockBoy7
      @B4BoomersBlockBoy7 6 років тому +2

      Nope , that's why it's called Vent less! it provides more ambient indoor heating then a vented fireplace.

      In some cases, yes. Be safe and have a chimney check your chimney.

    big question how much does it or should it cost for a vent free fireplace propane insert .18 inch logs .Should my wood burning fireplace pipe be closed .The company I talked to said I just have to keep the damper closed and don't have to seal it

    How toxic are ventless gas logs?

    • @bumpers06
      @bumpers06 6 років тому

      Toxic enough that the install guides tell you not to put them in bedrooms

    • @thevoice765
      @thevoice765 5 років тому

      @@bumpers06 In most states Vent-free gas fireplaces or log sets can be installed in bedrooms. However, the maximum btu output can't exceed 10,000 btu's.

    • @bumpers06
      @bumpers06 5 років тому

      @@thevoice765 Alot of the owners manuals also state to not be installed into the bedrooms. I understand that some allow them up to 10000 btu. I wouldnt put anything but a vented or direct vented product in any spot of the home. You can google dangers of vent free and read on it some.

    • @thevoice765
      @thevoice765 5 років тому +1

      Better yet. Why don't you go towww.ventfree.org/ and get the "real truth".

    • @bumpers06
      @bumpers06 5 років тому

      @@thevoice765 alot of false and bad info in that link there. I know what we see and the way the products get used in the field and they shouldnt ever be installed into a home.
      The only thing "vent free" about them in the name. The first thing the owners manuals and install guides say is that you must supply sufficient combustion and ventilation air for the product.

      @@jasperdrengler7140 "Not in most states." Most States would comprise of 25 or more. LOL look it up... it's a handful of US States where it's not allowed that's a fact. Do your homework and read the manual before you start spreading misinformation. Do you aways exhaust your stove? How about your oven when you're baking or roasting for hours and hours or self-cleaning the oven? Did you pass out and need to go tot he hospital when you performed any of those tasks??? Our kitchen stoves aren't vented and with self clean technically speaking its probably just as crude of an indoor unvented burn ... how come noone complains about kitchen stoves .... I think unvented is fine it's natural gas just like what we cook on ....just another non vented gas appliance in the home ....

    Remember... the saying... "Canary in a coal mine..." I have 8 canaries in total but I started off with 3 and they are ALL ALIVE and they LOVE my Vent Free Fireplace, they sing nonstop until the sun sets. I've learned from watching these videos in favor of Vent Free, there are always the "professionals' who state false claims that they are harmful, dangerous, toxic, etc... Not true! Read the manual, not all Vent Free units are created equal. The "professionals" and their websites sadly just want you to spend more money and they hate that it is relatively super easy and inexpensive to install when compared to Vented Fireplaces. Vented Fireplaces are the bread and butter of the fireplace industry, go figure.
    Unfortunately, if you live in California and a few cities across the 50 United States, you are not lucky enough to legally install them because your government believes you are not able to follow the manufactures instructions. Bottom line - Vent Free fireplaces are safe and have existed since the 1970's. Also, look up the statistics of how many house fires are attributed to traditional wood burning and the pollution and toxins released into your home... the "professionals" never cite those facts.

      Yeah, my guess would be the biggest beast to tackle during this whole project is possibly having to locate and run a new gas line, which really wasn't shown at all. :( I"m sitting here looking at the layout of my living room right now....it'd be a whole project within itself to run a gas line over to the wall where I want the fireplace. :(

      Peggy Conroy You can also connect a gas line to any part of a home by creating a T joint with any gas pipes currently running through the home, extending the pipe to your chosen location.

      Napa 54 - cannot have gas fireplace in bedroom unless sealed with direct vent, also you don't use pipe sealant on trac-pipe fittings.
