Ron, How do you not stop in between steps, for at least a day or two, just to sit and gawk at your craftiness? I'm amazed by your fortitude, as well as your know-how and ability. Many thanks my friend! :D
I just bought one and hooked it up pilot light stays lit, but when i turn it on the pilot lite goes down and only half of the burner lites and it not very much then it shuts off?
I have a non-functioning wood burning fireplace and I would like to go with ventless logs. Does the vertical outlet in the fireplace get closed off when these are installed? Does there need to be any kind of outlet at all?
big question how much does it or should it cost for a vent free fireplace propane insert .18 inch logs .Should my wood burning fireplace pipe be closed .The company I talked to said I just have to keep the damper closed and don't have to seal it
@@bumpers06 In most states Vent-free gas fireplaces or log sets can be installed in bedrooms. However, the maximum btu output can't exceed 10,000 btu's.
@@thevoice765 Alot of the owners manuals also state to not be installed into the bedrooms. I understand that some allow them up to 10000 btu. I wouldnt put anything but a vented or direct vented product in any spot of the home. You can google dangers of vent free and read on it some.

Read the manual, not all Vent Free units are created equal. The "professionals" and their websites sadly just want you to spend more money and they hate that it is relatively super easy and inexpensive to install when compared to Vented Fireplaces. Vented Fireplaces are the bread and butter of the fireplace industry, go figure. Unfortunately, if you live in California and a few cities across the 50 United States, you are not lucky enough to legally install them because your government believes you are not able to follow the manufactures instructions. Bottom line - Vent Free fireplaces are safe and have existed since the 1970's. Also, look up the statistics of how many house fires are attributed to traditional wood burning and the pollution and toxins released into your home... the "professionals" never cite those facts.
Yeah, my guess would be the biggest beast to tackle during this whole project is possibly having to locate and run a new gas line, which really wasn't shown at all. :( I"m sitting here looking at the layout of my living room right now....it'd be a whole project within itself to run a gas line over to the wall where I want the fireplace. :(
Peggy Conroy You can also connect a gas line to any part of a home by creating a T joint with any gas pipes currently running through the home, extending the pipe to your chosen location.

Nope , that's why it's called Vent less! it provides more ambient indoor heating then a vented fireplace.
In some cases, yes. Be safe and have a chimney check your chimney.

How toxic are ventless gas logs?
Toxic enough that the install guides tell you not to put them in bedrooms

There is not a state in this union where this is legal, ethical, or should even be considered. None.

Vent free is not allowed in most states and almost never allowed in a sleeping room!

What's the problem with it
Why?
Napa 54 - cannot have gas fireplace in bedroom unless sealed with direct vent, also you don't use pipe sealant on trac-pipe fittings.
