  • In February, my family informed the management of Reserves at Stone Creek in Stone Mountain that there was water running in the walls of master bedroom. Maintenance came in and cut a hole in my ceiling. They acknowledged a problem with the sprinkler system in our building. They didn't repair the hole for 3 weeks and claimed they fixed the problem.
On March 13th, while my family was at work, the pipes in the walls connected to the sprinkler system burst and caused extensive damage to our apartment. It also damaged 4 of our neighbors' apartments as well. The ceiling in the master bedroom, the kitchen, and bathrooms collapsed. Management offered no assistance and never even came over to see the damage. They replaced the padding in the carpet but not the actual carpet. Didn't shampoo the carpet either. Left industrial fans running all day that ran up my electric bill. They patched up the walls and ceilings. Just painted over wet spots and mold. Never once offered to accommodate us with hotel runs until the work was done. And told us we couldn't move to another apartment in the complex and we couldn't break the lease.
On Saturday, April 13th, just 2 days ago, the pipes burst again in my upstairs neighbor's apartment. The ceiling collapsed, and water ran like a waterfall into our apartment. Which also caused our ceilings to collapse again. Water gushed through our apartment and 4 other apartments freely for hours. Maintenance didn't show up until 3 hours later, and the property manager showed up an hour or so after that. We had to move the entire contents of our home into the parking lot to avoid further damage. Again, we were offered no relief. Dekalb 911 emergency services left me on hold with a recording for 20 minutes. They would not accommodate us with rooms, so we'd have somewhere to go and didn't offer new apartments. Even mentioning rental payments in the midst of all of this. This is disgusting and negligent. They've shown absolutely no empathy for our families, and we need someone to be held accountable. We are displaced, we've lost money, we've lost food, we've lost wages, we've experienced unbearable stress, and it's inconvenient.
