You can also see how when IU covers V's eye, his blind eye immediately lowered as he wasn't able to focus on the Cube anymore. All the little details in their acting just makes me appreciate how much work was put into this music video.

That is so impressive! I also love how you can see the red cube reflected in IU's eye at the final moment...I wonder how they did that?!
It's not the first time V has "fought for" deaf people. He's used sign language signs before during a speech and BTS even incorporated sign language in the choreography for their song Permission To Dance.
Another relation to BTS is that a mountain of empty clothes as a symbol for many deaths also plays a recurring part in one of BTS's most iconic MVs called Spring Day which references a national tragedy in which more than 300 children died. This detail won't be lost on Koreans as the song is quite the icon and hasn't left the South Korean charts for six years so far.
V has also acted before so all in all he's the perfect choice for this MV for several reasons. IU is amazing, not only for the subject matter here but her voice is (clearly) breathtakingly beautiful. She's honestly one of my most favourite female singers ever.

This is some of the most creative and most wonderful storytelling I have seen it’s just tragically beautiful. The acting the story metaphors for living in an up accepting society with a disability. It’s masterfully done. And of course all of us BTS fans are desperate for more actor Taehyung. Their chemistry is amazing without being at all sexual, it’s like a deep connection.

Just a correction. IU character is not def she is mute. She is supposed to represent someone with no voice. Mute people also use sign language.

I wish people would quit commenting that IU's character is deaf, like they were in on the MV planning and shoot.
The MV was directed by an award winning South Korean movie director.
IU and V did an incredible job with their acting. Her voice is so touching that just the way she sang the first three words made me emotional. You could feel the love and how precious he was to her right from the beginning. Kim Taehyung, V, he is also into photography and goes by the name Vante. He is an amazingly talented in various ways. Taehyung did act in a kdrama,HWARANG, and won an award for it. He is an outside of the box thinker and is called an alien by members of BTS and fans because of his out of this world charisma, looks, and mind. V is a hands on kinda guy in everything he is involved in and is often praised for this. He is so loved by many celebrities because of his charm and kindness. But most importantly he is very humble due to his grandmother raising him. He like IU has a very unique voice and is very soulful. When he sings he moves you and gives you such a calm and soothing feeling. IU and V performed her song Ending Scene on her show and they sounded amazing together. The cinematography is amazing bec it was directed by Um Tae-hwa, a film director & screenwriter. He released the movie "Concrete Utopia" last year which was a blockbuster hit in Korea.
V starred in a K-drama in 2016 but paused his acting career to focus on BTS. Since then all the top directors & producers have been trying to cast him. He is expected to return to acting after BTS's military enlistment & world tour. IU requested him to be her male lead before he left for the ARMY last December.
By the way, you two…we love kindhearted guys. Nothing better than those not afraid to feel.
I think it would be an amazing MV regardless of the song. But the song and her voice is what brings the emotion to it and its so hauntingly beautiful.
I've cried a river watching this MV. It's so well acted that you can't help but get invested in their love story. I'm so glad she chose V to act alongside her. He's beautiful but has an innocence to him that was crucial for this role. She takes the lead and is so protective of him throughout the video until the end where the desperation sets in and V steps up to try to reciprocate. She doesn't leave him though and they both go down together. They've created an epic romance in 5 minutes.

Here is some extra info about the music video... Director Um Tae Hwa released a guide explaining the MV and gave 4 Key points.
First, the "cube" signified the discrimination and oppression that are prevalent in the daily lives of the main characters.
Second, the "camcorder" represents the "lens of love," an important "device" that allows us to look at the beautiful things in the world beyond the internal or external appearance of the characters.
Third, IU and BTS V became the main characters in a "survival story of a dystopian worldview of someone who cannot speak and sees the world only through his left eye." Despite the difficulty, feeling hurt and exhausted, they relied on each other despite "cube" and tried to overcome it in the end.
Fourth and last, the "wedding dress and tuxedo" symbolize the "fruit of love." At the end where their clothes are seen rising in the air, it depicts that they are finally "free to fly away from all kinds of oppression and pressure."

Great reaction! As for the love for animals, I think Tony and V have something in common, your friend can show you V's first solo album released in September, Layover is all illustrated in honor of his dog Yeontan and he even appeared in the mv's and live. .. Tannie as he calls him has heart problems and has undergone surgery, now he is the best known and loved dog in Korea and is sixth in the most beautiful videos made by fans. As now V is in the army Tannie is with his parents but V always says he had great losses, depression and it was Tannie who made him smile again... 💜💟🐕🐕🐕

Hi, I'm an Army and a regular viewer of Killdeer's BTS reactions, I really enjoy the reactions where you guys are together. I hope you continue to grow in the number of reactions. Blessings 💜
The director paid extra attention detail. If you watch carefully, you can see the charred outline of the body of the last person who used that pole to fight off the cube on their way to join the others and leave their life’s “costumes”on the pile.
To me, Love Wins All is IU's best all around project.
I just noticed that in the scene before they disappear, you can see the image of the approaching square in her eye.
The clothes slowly floating down reminded me so much of the scenes in “War of the Worlds” (Tom Cruise version).
IU’s life story was nearly as tragic. She lived with her granny in a cockroach ridden room and often went without food. She was burdened by her family’s debt. She was rejected many times by music companies but never gave up until she debuted. She knows sadness and that’s why she’s such a great actress (she’s won Korea’s best actress award).
IU is coming to Atlanta this summer on tour 🎉
Anyone who comes to say anything about boys being this or not being able to do that, that they should be different, that they want them to be how they want, I will name them "The Cube".🤔🤔🤔

I think the videos are also vehicles to express our emotions and experiences like you did in this reaction. That's what I love about art. But I am also beginning to understand that visual arts can do that job as well, like the narrative through the scenes. Thanks a lot for your reactions, I really want to see much more of them. @@TonyLoch If you dont mind me suggesting some songs I consider have a richness in regards of videography, I would like to suggest Not today, Heartbeat, ON, both Kinetic Manifesto and the MV (music video), Fake Love, Idol, Black Swan, Mic drop, to start. I would really love an expert reaction to those videos.
It would have been a whole lot better if you guys finished the whole video till the end before sharing your thoughts. The MV did not end there(camera dying due to low batt) . Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the insights from a cinematographer's perspective, but if you watch carefully, the camcorder's world isn't much, so this MV is more a commentary on the present that the dystopian future in my view.

Another thing, Tony. If you ever have a chance to shoot with a stereo camera, or check out the slides from one, you will discover a veritable time machine. My dad embraced that technology, and the images put a person back in a different world with people and places long gone. It’s sad that the medium is no longer supported with the demise of Kodak labs and developers that knew how to process the film and create the very intricate stereo slide. You can sometimes find the cameras and viewers still out there.

After maybe the 3rd time watching the MV I finally noticed all of the clothing hanging from the trees in the beginning when they are running. Just the sheer numbers of people who met the same fate as these two makes it even more sad. As for the people in the dining hall, I thought it was the people who belonged to the clothing in the pile as they were are dressed in black and their faces were also covered. Maybe there was a wedding being held there when the cubes attacked and killed everyone.???
Another unique aspect of this video I found is that the woman is mostly guiding and protecting the man even to the point of protecting him from seeing something bad. Almost all the time it’s the other way around. But here IU as the singer is also the narrator. In reality, IU is actually a year older than V so her natural inclination might be to protect her younger “brother” although we don’t really know the relative ages of who they are portraying in this video.
IU is Suga's age (1993) so she's 2 years older than V (1995)
@@ataraxia7949the point is that she is older than him. 1 or 2 years makes no difference in terms of how they would relate to each other. She would be “noona” to him either way. BTW I’ve lived in Korea for the past 8 years so I see how important these age relationships are on a daily basis.
Shortly... I see cube as people whom want to put down others whom dont fit in cube-people standars. And everyone of us can think - am I one of those cube-peoples who are behind that screen (V is hitting)? When you use your "cube" and write/ read comments - what you find there? Sorry my english and greetings from the north edge of Europe

Dimash singer makes a film about all uniting together under oipression..he spent 4 years making it and spent 6 million on it. Brought all religious leaders from the world to watch it...its profound movie production.

You can get so carried away by the images, you can miss the lyrics. When I look at the video in the context of the lyrics, I think of them as lovers whose relationship has a Romeo and Juliette aspect. Different race, or ethnicity, or culture or something that is not approved or conventional.
Never understood why people enjoy things that make them cry. I guess I have far too much of that in my real life.

@@TonyLoch I'm not surprised that something makes people cry, nor do I disapprove of that, I'm puzzled as to why they would seek that experience, also regarding other negative emotions, such as fear. And in Korean mvs, movies etc in particular, there's usually not even a happy end that would ultimately console you. Btw, I'm also human, and I didn't watch, because I knew beforehand that it makes people cry. As I said, I avoid that.
@@aligensa In my case, it is cathartic. I find it easier (safer?) to cry over something like this than real things sometimes.
@@suesaul4727 There's actually science that says catharsis is a myth, crying of any kind is an expression of stress and a social signal to others to help. Crying itself doesn't do anything for you.
@@aligensa Maybe, but it makes me feel better. If I'm crying alone, who am I signaling? Not gonna argue with you, everyone has their own experiences. You should do what works for you.
