Good job! I hadn’t heard of the Ruckman Bible until now. I heard him in person several times. He was a good preacher. He would sometimes draw as he preached. He was a good artist as well. I can’t remember him coming across arrogant or anything like some of his writings. He did come across confident but also a little humble at times if you can believe it. We felt we had no choice. Fortunately, in the Providence of God, I was led out of that. The 1977 NASB was the start of my leaving KJV Onlyism, not the KJV, which I love. ( bit of a long one ). As someone who uses the KJV. ( as well as NASB ) it saddens me that many people think this is what the fruit of the KJV is. The OLNYISM is so strong now it’s actually ( at least what I see ) the predominant group that uses the KJV. A champion translation of over 400 years. Used by puritans and many good godly teachers over the century’s is now kind of a tool in a way. For people to mislead, spread hate and abuse. I’m not saying that to all KJV onlyists. But there is a danger in “onlyism” in general unless we are talking about Christ haha. I go to a church that uses ESV. and I strongly encourage my friends to use the KJV to help them grow and see some of the things that I believe the ESV is lacking. But I’m overjoyed that they are reading there Bible. And I’m glad I have a pastor that loves and cares for his sheep. All this to say I actually think study bibles should be used CAREFULLY! and people need to come alongside and help other Christian’s and teach them hermeneutics and proper methods of study! Sorry for the rant.

He has said quite a few times that when people come to hear him speak in person or have met with him personally they are shocked that he wasnt as sharp and crass in person as he was on paper. People have to remember that the notes in any study bible are written by man. Which are basically opinion. Personally, I think the notes in the nabre Catholic are absolutely trash. Along with the new oxford study bible. BUT. I still own them and think they offer a unique perspective. I probably should have just waited till the end of your video instead of posting twice lol.

thank you for the video. please, as an honest person, think about how jesus spoke to a certain group. I am sure you do not think that there was something wrong about that, right? just food for thought.
Personally, and this is just my opinion. I don't think ruckman was big R racist. Did he use language that most would disagree with absolutely. Racism used to mean that you would discriminate against someone on the basis of their skin color or an ethnic back ground. While pointing out that stereotypically some jews have big noses is by no means becoming of a pastor he likely wouldn't have considered that racist. In fact in one of the foot notes he makes the accusation that modern translations are racist on the idea that some of the wording they use when it comes to physical descriptions, they used with the intent to prevent inter racial marrying. whereas the kjv would allow for that. Again, I don't subscribe to all the stuff he says. The appendix in the back coincides with the notes throughout the bible. He mentions many many times refer to such and such appendix at the bottom of such and such page. Personally, I don't believe he was qualified to be a pastor based on the number of times he was divorced. I think he knew the content of the kjv bible better than anyone of his time. Steven Anderson is another that is a very well versed kjv pastor. But it is overshadowed by a lot of garbage and hatred that comes out of his mouth. I would not by any means recommend that bible to any one new to the faith or new to kjv. It would be a small number of people that I would recommend that to. Now the scofield is a different story. But which version would depend on the biblical education level. Because the 1917 notes are different than the later versions, especially the scofield 3. I always recommend to anyone that desides that the kjv is what they want to start with the Defined kjv bible. Most of the archaic words are defined right there in the text. Those that don't want kjv, I usually will point them to the nasb95. Tho there are some renderings I raise an eyebrow at, it's still very good. Also, back to the rrf, all of the illustrations were hand drawn by him. He also sells those separately in a charts and diagrams book. That doesn't include his commentary. Although from my comments it probably comes off that I am a ruckman fan boy. I'm not I do as a hobby collect bibles, and study the different variations in notes translation styles and thoughts. Ok now I'm done. No more comments promise lol.
@@jtalks5 I love these btw, no hate from me. I totally get what you are saying, I agree that Ruckman was not qualified to be a pastor. I think you raised an interesting point, intelligence doesn't equal qualified. Ruckman and Anderson are and we're very intelligent men who knew and know their Bibles front to back, yet ultimately it's how they apply that knowledge. In both cases I think that use language that is unbecoming of a pastor in the church. Great comment 👍

@ the lasting fruit that comes from Calvin and Augustine before him is evil and not the one true gospel. Ruckman at the very least preached the one true gospel and spoke out against heretical views that have been held such as that of Calvin… I don’t agree with many things ruckman believed, such as his stance on abortion etc but he taught the simple true gospel and led many to Christ and because of his devotion to it many after him are doing the same. you said your not going to post a link to where you got the bible but you also just said THEY sent it out and didn't actually tell us at all where you got it from
@@daibhidh several people in the comments section have asked for a link and I've already posted it there, search through the comments and you'll find one
@@austenlockhart2982 fantastic comment! I couldn't agree with you more! It really saddens me that such a beautiful elegant and powerful translation has developed a bad reputation amongst modern readers simply because of a few bad eggs. I couldn't agree more that we should still keep and use the KJV
7:54 I don't know how much you know about Bob Jones University, but from everything I've heard about BJU it is no surprise that they would produce a very bigoted racist person.
@@glstka5710 I don't know a ton, but I do know that Mark Ward graduated from there and he says it's a great school, and Mark Ward is about as unbigoted a guy as I can think of.
@@JohnMiles117 People can overcome their educational environment. I've enjoyed many of Mark Ward's videos, he's one of the good guys.
I've watched quite a few of his sermons, and for the most part, I enjoy them. Usually, his artwork kind of goes along with what he's preaching about.
@@jtalks5 you are right that notes in Bibles are simply man's opinions. I own those study editions as well and agree that although I disagree with them they are still useful tools.
ive had an nwt before and i didnt want to give it away and didnt want to use it or to burn it... Kind of stuck in a predicament.

Talk about controversy, do a review of the Dakes Annotated Reference Bible. Great notes, but the guy had some weird history.
@@thedrumssayyes dude, don't tempt me. The funny thing is I just got rid of my copy of dakes 😂
Thank you I use the NIV and NKJV . There are some have actually told me that they are not the word of God. Note Bob Jones Univertsity uses the ESV for bible courses now.
@@procop4063 that's awesome brother! I actually didn't know that about Bob Jones
super interesting! I'm a New Zealander from the other side of the world, but as a child I was home-schooled using the Bob Jones University Press curriculum - so it's cool for me when I stumble upon content regarding BJU.
@joelmcleay that's awesome dude!
@@JohnMiles117 I also really liked what you said about intelligence vs. wisdom ik this video. I got straight A grades in biblical studies and theology at Otago University, arguably NZ's most reputable academic institution, this year. But I wouldn't consider myself wise by any means - a cursory glance at many of my life choices, particularly in adolescence and young adulthood, would indeed prove me somewhat of a fool!
thank you for the video. please, as an honest person, think about how jesus spoke to a certain group.
My perception and opinion only is that Andy Stanly want to detach from the Old Testenmment is to condone same sex marriage to accommodate the movement of our times. That is my opinion.

You are a lot kinder to Ruckman than me.
@@Purvis-dw4qf how so?
@@JohnMiles117 Ruckman was an unbelieving heritic
@@Purvis-dw4qf ohhh, I understand what you mean 😂
The fact that you think Calvin was beneficial to the faith but call ruckman a wolf is so wild… Calvin did so much damage to the faith and has led to so many in bondage to a false religion more and more to this day. Calvinism is a false gospel, actually there is no gospel in it.
Calvin was definitely a wolf.
@@TylerJames-yu5hf I never said that I loved Calvin or was a Calvinist (I am not), however I did say that you have to look at the body of their work. Both Calvin and Ruckman did good things, but what is the lasting fruit that they bore?
@ the lasting fruit that comes from Calvin and Augustine before him is evil and not the one true gospel.
Ruckman at the very least preached the one true gospel and spoke out against heretical views that have been held such as that of Calvin…
I don’t agree with many things ruckman believed, such as his stance on abortion etc but he taught the simple true gospel and led many to Christ and because of his devotion to it many after him are doing the same. I would say that is good fruit.
Every single one of us will get things wrong and many things we will never know or understand completely this side of heaven. What are the important things to get right? I think ruckman got the important things right. I can’t say the same about Calvin…
@ I would also say the lasting fruit of Augustine and Calvin are very bad. Those that follow those men are very screwed up in their teachings and understanding of God’s word and the gospel. They perpetuate calvinism a horrible twisting of scripture that leads people to hell and divides the church.
My perception and opinion only is that Andy Stanly want to detach from the Old Testenmment is to condone same sex marriage to accommodate the movement of our times. That is my opinion.
