@@SeanBuffini the BS1H Open gate internal recording format is long GOP 4/2/0... About the Fuji I presume it's the GFX100 II ? the only recording 3:2 is 4.8K and it's 8K$ just for the body. So for less than 10K whit all the rig and stuff, yes, it's the only one.
@@TheCegerom I could be mistaken, but I believe the S5II, S5IIX, S1 & S1H all film in Open Gate too. I didn't mention the BMCC 6K since it was released after this video was uploaded. Regardless, The claim that "There is no option on the market right now that is a full frame cinema camera under $10,000" does not stipulate anything about open gate. The ZCAM E2 F6 Pro is a great camera and you should feel good if you purchased it. But to claim it doesn't have competition under 10k is an exaggeration.
@@SeanBuffini I understand your point of view, but what is a cinema camera for you? From my point of view, you need to be able to record in open gate, in a format that is at least 422 10bits internally without cropping in the sensor. Flat recording of course, offering a desqueze mode that includes as many multipliers as possible (1.33/1.5/1.6/1.8 and 2), having a TC connector and displaying the different ratios in the viewfinder. To allow great flexibility, you also need to be able to connect xlr plugs for sound, either directly to the camera or via a small additional box. As for the desqueze, I'm only certain about the x1.6 lenses, I asked Kinson the question. But for the rest, this camera does all that. I've yet to find another camera that's as flexible for the use you want to make of it (documentary, fiction, corporate...) and that takes up as little space as possible without a multitude of additional accessories that make the use of hybrid bodies, in my opinion, a pain. Once again, 10K is not the price of the camera. They include batteries, a rig, a Gratical-style viewfinder, video transmission (he's talking about Teradek if I'm not mistaken), an external RAW reccorder, a follow focus system... In short, this manufacturer is doing things right and the only thing that's still holding me back is the lack of a global shutter. But as they have a version with this on the E2 S6G... It might be possible.
If you guys didn't notice, the tools are the same as the Atomos monitors. Don't quote me on this but Z Cam might have collaborated with Atomos designing this monitor. I remember when I was at NAB, CEO of Atomos was hanging out with Z CAM a lot of times which cool.
There are a few option for "full frame cinema cameras" under 10K$ : Panasonic BS1H, Kinefinity Mavo LF MK2 and Mavo Edge 6K, Sony FX6, technically Canon R5C (and it does 8K internal raw... But lacks so many ports that I don't know if we can really count it as a cinema camera)...
When we say that we mean cinema form factor. Not dslr form factor. Kinefinity os the only argument here. But they have so many issues it’s not worth mentioning.
I have my own external monitor (Portkeys BM7ii) that I want to use instead of this 5" monitor. How would you connect it to the camera? Hopefully they will sell the pro one day without a monitor too.
Sadly the option to record OUT of the USB-C to SSD isn't there with the F6 Pro. It's only for app use or control. There's no good user manual for the changes made to the Pro.
Would you guys be willing to do another podcast about drones in the future? I learned as much as I know about drones from your guys first one but would like to know more
Definately going to buy two of them for my next feature film. As a writer/director and a crazy cinematographer this camera looks great and the price points are incredible. I direct and shoot my docs and features, which I have been using the RED ONE MX, and my SONY F35, my Canon 1DC. I shot two features with a Canon 7D and a 7D PL modified by FVG. Time to sell the old and get the new. Keep Shooting.

Hi guys, thank you for this video. But you didn't talk about one of the most important, in my opinion, function for a cinema camera : desqueze... If you can record the open gate, that mean you can use anamorphic lenses. So what factors are available? Please 🤪
Any idea when a cage will be released? I've asked and received zero answers, other than "soon" and by Nitze. Also, the Exascend Zblade media? Again, been asking Soltys and Kinson and received zero answers.
I just got a cage from Nitze, I emaild them directly and they sold me one. Its a great cage. Zblade im still waiting for B&H to start shipping them out. Kinson just keeps saying its happening.
ZCam has always had internal ZRaw 12 bit, and recently able to do external BRaw (to a BM recorder). Would be nice if somebody (DaVinci?) supported the ZRaw, but BM and Z seem to be in soft competition, so... Also, these cameras can record H.264 and H.265. The reason for the active cooling is the processor is an FPGA chip instead of the ASIC chips they've been using. FPGA is more programmable for firmware and software changes, but runs hotter because of power draw. This is why the V-mount only. The older models can use Sony NP batts which are cheaper and lighter, but can't power the bigger processor in the Pro model. I wish ZCam would publish data about this stuff because it's pretty significant. Communication with them is at best herky jerky. I love the image, but not a fan of their customer service.
I have an email from Jason saying it’s fully capable of recording internal pro resraw. They don’t have the license worked out yet. That’s why they have faster media, and updated electronics on the pro model.
g2 rather than pro? Assuming it isn't cost if you're willing to snag the Z-Cam. The BMCCP 6K pro edges out the Z-Cam still for me unless you're desperate for full frame. Don't love how the Z is only 10-bit. That seems a little goofy for a cinematic camera in 2023.
@@foxross4468Good enough for the new Mission Impossible movie. And that was the regular F6 shooting A Cam on the movie. Clearly its not necessarily all about formats and bit rates. Light properly and on a proper set 10 bit is enough for even a several hundred million cinema movie. Yes it's not out of the box but with the right peripherals you have the ability to shoot BRAW and ProresRAW.
If you're going for bitrate get the 6k g2. The Blackmagic raw clears anything z cam has internally. You don't need an external recorder with the Blackmagic and that's huge considering that's another $300-$600 depending on if you're getting the ninja v or black magic assist. I love my z cam but my next camera will definitely be a 6K or Ursa G2.
With the zcam yes you dont have an internal raw so BM wins there. And braw is incredible! But as mentioned above it’s not always about bit rates and numbers. The form factor for us is a bigger factor. Being able to rig it up or down is so very important. You can’t to that with the pocket g2.
FX6 is 6 grand and it's pretty standard right now. Most would agree it's a better value than the FX9 even. The feature film The Creator is getting an IMAX release and was shot on that.
