Thank you Dr Sahab, Your info has put my mind at rest. I live in Australia and my surgeon has not discussed lenses or related costs with the surgery. I have been doing some research and ran into your youtube clip. Thank you so much as this is what i will have done

What is the incidence of negative dysphotopsia (temporal dark crescent) with this lens? What is the usual diameter of the optic?

I see huge streak to the right and triangular streaks to left when looking at lights. The glare is horrible . Everything is out of focus. Glasses seem to make everything worse. Can't drive.

I had cataract surgery for my left eye on 10-01-2022 with a Tecnis Eyhance IOL. I didn't get Intermediate vision. I only got distance vision. I am struggling to do my work and daily activities.
In hospital terms, my sight is fine, but for me, I lost my near and intermediate vision. Operation success but no vision as they said before surgery. In my experience Tecnis is only for distance vision not for enhanced intermediate vision.
All the staff are very kind and helpful. But the problem is Lens only.
Varilux x series progressive lenses are also not worthy... I dont know how to correct my vision. By undergoing surgery, I made a mistake.A surgical error cost me my life. Thank you

Question for Dr Bogdan Galan...I just found this presentation and would like to know if you find the Eyehance IOL (it is 2022 now) a suitable lens implant for patients with amblyopia in who a standard monofocal implant is planned for the amblyopia eye especially if the patient(s) really need useful intermediate vision especially (musician) in the dominant eye? There is minimal astigmatism and a topic lens is not required, just LRIs to address it.

@@carollowne4883 Thank you for taking the time to reply. That’s disappointing. I won’t be building up my hopes of a miracle cure. There doesn’t seem to be much information on the net regarding lazy eyes so not sure if there’s likely to be anything to help us in the near future.
I just hope the surgeon can do a really good job on my good eye. Best regards Mike.
PS. Are you happy enough with your good eye?

@@miketait1640 My own surgery was a success…and well performed re the procedure itself. I notice though that other commentators to the video have observed that the promise of slightly better intermediate vision failed for them as it did for me. I have pretty good distance vision and I had researched Eyehance thoroughly before my surgery. Post surgery (2 yrs now) I find that I need my glasses more than ever before….glasses for reading, glasses intermediate range for music reading..(I am a musician), more intermediate glasses for household things like cooking or reading recipes on the counter while I cook. I have several pairs of multi focal glasses (I was used to progressives before surgery) but despite many optometry opinions and accurate fulfillment of the prescriptions, none of them work as they used to for me. I can drive without glasses which is a plus. One other person commented that their vision seems to be changing….that is my experience too although my Ophthalmologist believes that to be impossible as the lenses are not displaced. So my best solution at the moment is to use what I never thought I would do…various strengths of drug store readers….usually +2.50 for reading, +1.75 for music and other intermediate activities. Meanwhile, I have an unworn box full of expensive prescription glasses and frames worth thousands of dollars. Regarding the amblyopia specifically, I would say that the distance vision in that eye was an improvement but remains the same for intermediate and near distance. Colors of course were improved with lens replacement. I do not have the problem others have had with glare. My ‘good’ eye, is ok but lens replacement did not improve the vision outcome for it especially regarding intermediate and near vision. I do hope this helps you in your decision making. My husband had regular monofocal lenses the year before me and I think his intermediate vision is no worse than my own (with Eyehance)…so for me, the close intermediate hope for improvement was not realized.

Question for Dr. Bogan: If a patient is seeking a mono-vision strategy in an effort to be as spectacle free as possible and he has one eye already implanted successfully with a monofocal lens set for distance, would the Eyhance lens set for, say, - 1.0 in the remaining non-dominant eye achieve the goal?

Hi Doctor! I'm a healthy 24 year old patient with a series of eye pathologies. My left eye was diagnosed with severe cataract, PVD (with floaters) and mild Drusen aprox 2 years ago. I've had cataract surgery and I opted for a monofocal ioL ( i wanted the best contrast sensitivity and night vision possible). 1 month after the cataract surgery I went through a vitrectomy surgery, also everything went well. Furthermore, 1 year later I developed a secondary cataract and had a yag laser capsulotomy with great results, now 20/20 distance vision, but my night vision is not as great as I expected to be (low contrast sensitivity and glare from oncoming traffic). Now I'm developing a mild cataract in my right eye as well and I need your suggestion. Would you recommend a monofocal or a trifocal IoL for my right eye? I really want a trifocal lens so I don't lose my near vision in both eyes, but I'm wondering how this lens will affect my night vision and daytime visual acuity. Which one would you recommend, Symfony or PanOptix IoL in my case? I just need a second opinion. Thank you!
