I mean, Rush is basically the first boost game. I do like how much more fluid the movement looks in this, the steering looks a lot less stiff.

I was literally dreaming of a game like this. A sonic game with less emphasis on modern high fidelity graphics and a focus on fun movement / gameplay
frontiers focus was just the graphics so they could somehow call it AAA and charge 60 dollars for it ngl

This fan game is sick! Felt like seeing Unleashed, Winning animation could definitely use some work but honestly this dev knew what they was doing!
I think my biggest recommendation would be to allow a finalized keyboard and Playstation controller layout.
It's distracting how with my controller is set up my pause button is the right trigger
I love that mid-zone transitions are becoming a trend
This honestly feels like something on either Ps1 or Nintendo 64.
Or DS.
Or Dreamcast

Best version of the boost formula because you can’t just spam it by holding down the button and rings don’t give you more boost you actually have to do really cool tricks to fill it.
And by “do cool tricks” you mean “spam the R button whenever you’re in the air”
@@auroraSLAPfilling the gauge with rings is ideal because it means you won't be not boosting for long in a game that was meant to be boosted
the fact that in this tails says water palace is connected to apotos makes so much sense ever since i was a kid i always thought water palace took place in apotos glad i wasn’t the only one

People like to call Sonic Colors DS “Sonic Rush 3” and I can’t help but disagree not because it doesn’t have Blaze but because that game doesn’t have one of Rush’s trademark gameplay mechanics being its trick system. This fan game, on the other hand, gets it in spades and I really hope we see more of it at some point outside of this old demo
Not to mention that the levels are a bit more fairer in Colors DS than Rush and Rush Adventure.
And Blaze is in Colors DS, but as a dialogue character.

Sheesh, arrogant much? I'm just repeating what others have said, I don't agree with their opinion but I can see why they'd think it, being a 2D boost game made by Dimps even with the same Sonic model from Rush Adventure from what I could tell lol

Nah i don’t agree with this opinion the only thing that’s different is the music is just covers of the original soundtrack.
I love how you have to go through Apotos to get to Water Palace, I've always thought of the background of Water Palace to be Apotos so it's nice to see that realised in a game
Unleashed was so underrated when it was released, i still think its one of the best on the series. Hope for a remaster.

The visuals here show that good animations matter more than graphical fidelity to make Sonic appealing visually.
The level design seems flawless, it's impressive, and the aesthetic it goes for with the textures is also executed flawlessly.
Hoping for an update for this sometime. Maybe they'll announce a new version this year?

Sega bringing back Blaze into the spotlight would be a dream come true for me
Next year will be Blaze’s 20th anniversary. Fingers crossed that Sega will do something for that.

I’ve genuinely been dying for something like this!!! Sonic Rush was my first (and my favourite!) Sonic game. I’d give anything for Sega themselves to do SOMETHING like this, or at least port the Rush (and advance) series to modern consoles! …..and not give them the “Ultimate” treatment
If only Sega released this kind of game on the Saturn it would've still been making consoles to this day....

the rush games used the jaggys of the ds to mask stuff like how sonic shoes did not look exact to his modern self

I noticed it when I tried emulation on my pc for dual screens. I tend to stick to melon now since it's got damn good horsepower
In hindsight, Sega missed out on an opportunity by not making a fully 3D Sonic for the DS. Or 3DS ports of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2

The music (except for the cutscene, which is from Sonic Unleashed) is from the Sonic Rush OST, which is by Hideki Naganuma. The track used in the stage is called "BACK 2 BACK"

That level seems kinda unbalanced tho. Lots of places where you need to boost on the water. It looks awesome, don’t get me wrong, but a difficult first level.
