My grandmother was an epidemiologist. I was very interested in her work. During her youth, as a new doctor, she would go to Siberia to contain anthrax, she saw cholera and even plague cases. She always used to say that in order to stop an epidemic, truly stop it from spreading, takes serious actions in prohibiting certain things, which people don’t agree doing until the disease is raging and they are scared enough to quarantine, stay in voluntary isolation. And it always takes quite a few deaths before people realize the seriousness of the threat and act in compliance.
Kinda weird that Covid is being mentioned in movies now. Even after a hundred years, people will still talk about it like the black plague, etc. Can’t believe I live through that.
3:48. Hazardous potentially deadly chemicals or germs, yet wears shorts expose legs and unbuttoned shirt with the top exposing belly. Movie logic. Girl wears little men covers up.
So, she started out in appropriate gear for handling hazardous viruses, then switched to first a single surgical mask (presumably not replaced after an hour, even though the filters are too clogged to actually do anything after an hour or so), and then a piece of plastic that allows open airflow around the sides (presumably unaware that air _flows around objects_ ). Are we sure she's an actual virologist? You'd think she would've at least packed a spare hazmat suit, considering the situation she expected to find in the village.
