Bodyline's refusal to restock stuff has always been bad but it's the worst it's ever been now. I've accepted that they are trying to get out of lolita and just want to make costumes.

A few years ago they revamped their website and took new product pictures for the listings they had back then, so I had renewed hope that they would continue with the business and keep releasing new things, but they haven't restocked any other shoe designs since then and they also haven't brought back any non-generic shoe designs. Probably because they don't want to land themselves into hot water again with lolita brands by using their designs.
They will never restock because they are a costume shop. They only ever did lolita because mr yan wanted a bride. When he got it he left and so did lolita. They gave it a shot and it didn't do well.

They even made the effort to take new product photos of existing products and have released a few new designs. No new designs for shoes though. They switched over to a different kind of synthetic material for some of the shoes, and the designs look subtly different (no different details but slightly different shape and proportions). And they haven't released anything new or restocked shoes in a long time now afaik which gives me the impression they've given up on the lolita part of the shop. They frequently hold sales for the best selling lolita items, so they must still be producing those. It really could go any which way. Maybe they'll continue for a long time with their current product line up. Maybe they'll start releasing new stuff again, maybe they'll just remove the lolita part entirely. I have very little hope for the shoes though.
i miss old bodyline! RIP to their punk and men’s/ouji/EGA-able items, i so badly regret not buying a bunch of weird stuff when they still sold it. they were in stock in 2020 and i assumed they would be available later… alas
Bodyline was my childhood, I would ALWAYS browse the site & dream about wearing their cute outfits.....I somehow still have never worn lolita despite always having an interest and this video just helped me take the plunge & buy the lucky bag!!! I hadn't checked in on their site in so long, I'm sad that it's so different now from what it was 15 years ago...
Man I really want this jsk bc I had it, spilled something on it and now the stain is impossible to remove. But Bodyline has, from what I've observed, completely done away with their plus sizes. It's actually super frustrating to see because Bodyline was the only brand I could even find affordable plus size options at in the early days.

Ugh, that’s super disappointing because I always struggle with finding plus size friendly j-fashion (even then, some of the plus size options available still wouldn’t work for me), I wish more j-fashion companies would recognize that we would love to buy their products and wear them :/ (And yes, I know I’m not entitled to their products, but it’s still annoying) ps sorry for the mini rant, I just wanted to get that off my chest and I couldn’t find a super cohesive way to do so
@@megp9id There are loads more options for plus sized lolita fashion from japanese brands these days, but none of them are as affordable as bodyline. The yen is pretty weak though, so you might get some good deals if you try brands that carry plus sizes such as Maxicimam.
@@Xdrwarl0ser tragically, affordable lolita is VERY hard to come by, but i've heard great things about atelier pierrot's sizing! just note that their site has several brands on it - atelier pierrot's own brand is the one you're looking for. though, i think some of the other brands on there also have plus size options, like marble! to rattle off a few other plus size brands out there, there's metamorphose, rosina blue, physical drop, glitter tale, enchantilic enchantilly, and maxicimam. and, of course, any dress with shirring is worth checking the size info for, even if it's from a brand that's not typically plus size friendly

My first ever blouse was a secondhand body line. It barely fit, but now I think body line could really make a big comeback if they expanded their size range. It's so hard to find blouses and tops that fit. I like their very traditional old school lolita style, it's so charming
I went to Japan last month and visited the shop in Harajuku and it was pretty disappointing honestly. They only had cheap maid outfits or stuff that looked more costumey than lolita :( I used to recommend that brand all the time but I'm worried too about it's longevity

I must say I think 83 dresses is a lot to me as well, but it depends on how you plan your wardrobe and if you plan on being a daily lolita, or like collecting prints, etc. I've been at it since 2003, and many closet cleans, new purchases and a long hiatus later I think I own between 30 and 40 main pieces (dresses, skirts) at the moment, just got done with a closet clean. I don't collect border prints. I have maximized other parts of my wardrobe such as bags, shoes, accessories, outerwear, blouses, etc for more coordination options. But my wardrobe isn't set up for a daily lolita lifestyle anymore. I don't think I own any casual lolita pieces. As for why people hate bodyline; I don't think that's the case anymore but yeah, people used to hate on bodyline. Probably because it was the worst (quality and design wise) that was still considered lolita and not something else. But the lolita market is much bigger now than it used to be, and we now have the lolita equivalent of fast fashion with the mass production products available through multiple chinese platforms (such as aliexpress, I'm not talking about chinese brands), so bodyline doesn't look bad at all compared to those products.

I'm surprised they dont make new prints and rack in some dough. They have a huge Catalogue of styles that they can choose from to really make there own and make a even bigger name for themselves. Theres even a few print that go for over 100 dollars now. 😰 imagine they make a couture lolita brand and start gunning for AP with there prices. Pffsst we all have money problems.

the restock issue is so real and i wish more people brought attention to it - i've never worn lolita and i was looking to find something on bodyline and i never ended up buying because i couldn't find anything i like. lace market can be pretty hard to navigate too, so it'd be nice if i could get some inexpensive lolita straight from the shop :/

Since I don't think I would use most of the things in the lucky bags with their current stock on the website. Also, as an aside, my most worn thing ever is a Bodyline skirt that I also wear without a petticoat for every day casual lolita adjacent looks. I love it so much that I bought the exact same one in another color/pattern! And I'm scouting the internet for more versions of it. The fabric is thick and stunning, it's well made and fits bigger sizes really well with the corset. I wish they made more pieces or restocked more, I would absolutely love to go crazy on their website...
I was really disappointed when I went to Bodyline in Harujuku last summer. They had some ads and posters OF their lolita selection but none of it in store and the cosplay and costume related stuff they had was pretty far and few in between. With the sales you mentioned and that I am scared they may be going under now too. I hope not :o

I had a few good pieces from back in the late 2000s and I made the horrible decision to lend them to my older niece like.. 6 or so years ago but she lost them. I was so angry because I loved the pieces so much. I still have a few pieces but miss those particular ones.
Did they know they were sending it to you specifically? I only ask this because I bought the exact same lucky pack earlier this year and it looks as though the items I got were nowhere near as good as the stuff you have recieved here. Maybe I was just very unlucky though I'm not sure.
I got the same two petticoats but the JSK, Blouse, Gloves and Headress I recieved didn't go together at all firstly and secondly the accessories (Headdress, gloves) were very costumey and didn't even read as Lolita items. I didn't even get any legwear included. Not sure if anyone else has experienced the same but I was dissapointed with my Bodyline lucky pack.

I really wish they had a legit plus size range. Everyone talks about them as the perfect affordable lolita brand but then you go to their site and they never have anything larger than the equivalent of the US L or XL. I'm a 2X which really isn't that uncommon of a size, and yet I can never find anything that works with my measurements on their site. I can only imagine it's worse for larger people. All I require is the bare minimum for plus sizes and they can't even manage that. It's honestly disheartening.
I may buy one of their largest sizes secondhand someday and DIY it to fit me, but I shouldn't HAVE to just to use one of the most popular lolita resources out there
Yeah, bodyline used to be okay with plus sizes some items going up to 6L, but nowadays they don´t have them. I am plus size too and have many different cuts and sizes from bodyline but in a jsk it seems to be 4L in Bodyline size but there is no 4L anymore just 2L which is sad since they used to be the go to place for plus sizes
Bodyline was the only place I could get cute shoes , I live in japan and cute shoes in a size 41 european is not an option. I bought my first few pairs at the bodyline store but they no longer carry my size.
I actually have one of those stupid Mr Yan body pillows from back in the day lol I lost track of it when I moved and haven't had time to dress in lolita for a long time, but I'm sure he will jumpscare me one day when I open a box or bag!

I haven't ordered yet but, in order to see size options you have to pick a color option first. On the lucky pack, M and L are the sizes that they offer!
Honestly, I think the new management company just doesn't have an ulterior motive to stock lolita, and there is a lot more competition now. Those two things probably make it an area of the business they are less focused on. I think them going out of business or not is going to depend a lot more on how sucessful the cosplay / costume arm of the business is...

It's just clothes. If you like em, wear it. I will note some dresses just don't look good without petticoats so take a look at used ones of it for sale, you'll see how it hangs without a petti

I'm actually quite tempted to buy one of those packs. I've never bought from BL before. Is shipping terrible price-wise?
I really wish they had a legit plus size range. Everyone talks about them as the perfect affordable lolita brand but then you go to their site and they never have anything larger than the equivalent of the US L or XL. I'm a 2X which really isn't that uncommon of a size, and yet I can never find anything that works with my measurements on their site. I can only imagine it's worse for larger people. All I require is the bare minimum for plus sizes and they can't even manage that. It's honestly disheartening.
I may buy one of their largest sizes secondhand someday and DIY it to fit me, but I shouldn't HAVE to just to use one of the most popular lolita resources out there
Yeah, bodyline used to be okay with plus sizes some items going up to 6L, but nowadays they don´t have them. I am plus size too and have many different cuts and sizes from bodyline but in a jsk it seems to be 4L in Bodyline size but there is no 4L anymore just 2L which is sad since they used to be the go to place for plus sizes

Bodyline was the only place I could get cute shoes , I live in japan and cute shoes in a size 41 european is not an option.
I bought my first few pairs at the bodyline store but they no longer carry my size.

I actually have one of those stupid Mr Yan body pillows from back in the day lol I lost track of it when I moved and haven't had time to dress in lolita for a long time, but I'm sure he will jumpscare me one day when I open a box or bag!

I haven't ordered yet but, in order to see size options you have to pick a color option first. On the lucky pack, M and L are the sizes that they offer!

Honestly, I think the new management company just doesn't have an ulterior motive to stock lolita, and there is a lot more competition now. Those two things probably make it an area of the business they are less focused on. I think them going out of business or not is going to depend a lot more on how sucessful the cosplay / costume arm of the business is...

It's just clothes. If you like em, wear it. I will note some dresses just don't look good without petticoats so take a look at used ones of it for sale, you'll see how it hangs without a petti
