Even as a beginner rider this was so helpful to see how you view the interaction with the horse as a conversation, and also how you praise his intention to try, even when he doesn’t get it quite right. You never get angry or frustrated. Seems very similar to raising children!
So very nice to see a capable trainer and willing horse. It’s so important to develop a thinking brain! Thank you for leaving the little learning moments in the video.
Thank you so much for just saying that you don’t know what happened with the other trainer and that they did excellent groundwork. I am starting my mustang. First time I am starting a horse. Each step takes me much longer than you do. I only walk ride her 1 month. Then I Trotted with her. Still no canter because we need to practice transition between Trott and walk. And we moved today to a place with good footing in the arena. On the other side, I ride with her outside the arena. So bottom line, sometimes it is better to take things slow and not being pressured by the internet where most everyone just shows a perfect picture. Thanks for your videos and your honesty. ❤
You need to take as long as it takes for you and your horse to be comfortable. Nothing is written in stone. Best of luck with your girl. She is lucky to have you 🥰
Anytime working with horses things don’t always go as planned . Aiden will one day be leading the pack on trail rides . This was Great to watch . I plan to do the same with my newly broke horse .
Absolutely loooove the way you train and treat your horses Josie. Lol.. I can't believe that your helper came off 😂. So funny..not being mean but kinda ironic. You always seem to help horses that others aren't able to. You're so kind and patient and you give the horses confidence and the ability to learn and self calm 👏👏👏❤🐴
Great video thankyou Josie! He's just gorgeous & you provided a fabulous lesson in containing his energy & curiosity. You have such a relaxed & consistent approach, it obviously transferred beautifully to Aiden. I notice you ended up in a bit, did something change your initial plan to proceed in the halter? I didnt hear you refer to going into the bridle, from the halter?? Regardless, i very much enjoyed this - thankyou. We actually missed Michelle's dismount, but glad she was ok & unhurt!! 🐎❤️🙏
The intro for this video was filmed the day after the ride out sorry for the confusion. I have ridden him since that day in a halter and now I have a bitless bridle on him.
Great video, I think he did a great job for his first time out there and he was so good on the bridge. Love the thought - Aiden: aww is that it ? "Wilbur you walk to bloody slow" lol
Great video! Thx. I was very interested in your mention of emotional regulation and this lovely horse. I have worked with my 7 year old Arab in this. She is really good in the ring but have difficulty with the transfer to the trail. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
That was great...fantastic riding when he took off! I was thinking you were going to ride him in just the halter? I may have missed something about him having a bit for that ride. At least I thought I could see a bit in his mouth. He didn't seem that happy with it but he did so well anyway. I guess like you said, once he has his teeth done he may be a lot better?
Sorry for the confusion as I didn’t explain it very well. I filmed the intro the day after the outing. I have ridden him in a halter and bitless bridle since then b
You started the video with Aiden in a halter, but when you got on him in the field, he had a bit in his mouth. I would have liked to see the halter ride. How did that go?
😬 I started shaking with fear when you started out in the open, lol! (Just have seen so many recks from where you started). Lucky for Aiden, you reacted perfectly to prevent potential mishaps. It didn't take him long to understand what was expected of him.
I'm curious why you needed another horse there. You seemed to do well on your own. My horse goes out in two weeks to a trainer and ONE reason I chose her is she hacks young horses out alone all the time. I always ended up hacking alone it seems. For me, my young horse must be comfortable with that.
Aiden is such a ⭐He became the lead horse on his debut outing. 🤩 How do you think he went? Tell me below 👇
Do you have a video on what you spoke about on tips on helping a reactive horse deal with their emotions?
I don’t actually have one that I have done yet sorry. I’m not sure one video would cover it. It would be a few videos put together.
I would love a video series on teaching a horse to control their emotions!!!!!!! I❤U
My favorite video of yours. Fascinating to watch his horse brain working things out. He did so well for a newbie in a new environment.
He was fantastic wasn’t he 🥰

Aiden is so brave! Your energy is allowing him to explore without much fear!
He is such an amazing boy 🧡

Wow great riding Josie you are a rock star!!!
😆🧡
He did great, his owners must be so pleased. What a cutie!
They are very happy with him 🧡

Thank you Karen 🥰
Awesome! I would love to know how to work on teaching a reactive horse to control their emotions?
I love how you let him be curious and explore. To me that's important. I want my horse to think no big deal when we see new things.
Curiosity and exploration is the best for them 😊
Wow, you're such a good rider, wish I was so balanced and confident!
Thank you!
Love your videos, especially with the youngsters! I am starting my own 3yo warmblood right now so getting nice inspiration from you. 🐴
Good luck. It’s such a rewarding thing to do 🧡
Fantastic!! I love your approach!
Thanks so much!
Great video - so much to take from it. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it!
You rock! And so does Aiden on his first ride!! So brave. I need to channel your mind and energy when I ride💜
You can do it!

Sorry for the confusion but the introduction was filmed the day after the ride out. I haven’t ridden him with a bit since and he has been fabulous 🤩

Amazing
Thanks
Really fun to watch
It was fun to do 🤩😊😆
Great video! What brand of saddle are you riding in?
That’s an Ammo 😊
Super❤❤❤❤❤❤
It looks like you got him to take a bit too??
Sorry for the confusion but the intro was filmed the day after and from that day on I have had him in a halter or bitless bridle. X
