  • Here Jackie does some desensitizing with Coconut using a yellow rain coat. This filly is going to be a champion halter horse. Coconut is not for sale but as you can tell by the price we aren't in a hurry!
    Coconut was born 5-Feb-13 and is about 6 months old in this video. Her color pattern is called a medicine Cap. Coconut is also known as a WAR HORSE which these markings are extremely rare. Only the Chief or the Medicine Man rode this rare horse. They must have a shield on their chest and markings on their flanks which are also called shields. and they can only have 1 blue eye with liner around the eye. This eye in Indian Mythology is called a Sky Eye. If the Chief or Medicine Man dies in battle then this one blue sky eye will carry their spirits to their Gods. So that is why she is soooo special :)
    Coconut is by our stallion Chief (SONNYS MISTER TRUBAR), who is standing at www.downundercolour.com

    Coconut is not too thin and certainly not wormy she has just come through weaning which is the hardest time on all foals no matter what age. Coconut has been on the YEARLY NEWMAN EQUINE PLAN newmanequine.com/ since the day she was born which means they take care of her annual worming , vaccinations and her coggins. She is a halter filly and hadn't filled out yet in this video and as I said before she was just weaned she didn't eat or drink properly for days. She is now 3 and freaking HUGE and she is as fat as mud and only for sale to someone who can come up with her exorbitant price....lol.... so it seems she will be with us forever and we are very happy with that :)

      74 thousand dollars is way way to fucking holier then thou a lot of people will laugh in your face before slamming the door in your face. at least i will slam the door on anyone who is ignorant enough to have that price tag. i for one work for my money so can not sit back on my butt while some high society want to be charges that price for a horse 74 000 can go to a house and bills for me but only someone who has to earn his or her money will understand that.

    Medicine Hat horses were prized by Native American's and believed to have magical powers such as protecting the rider from danger or injury or death in battle. It was believed to bring good luck to the tribe and often other tribes would steal a Medicine Hat to bring the good luck to them and take it away from the tribe stolen from.

    For those saying she's too thin, she's athlete thin- just a bit skinny, and at this time she hadn't grown into her full self... not filled out yet. She's thin like how Greyhounds are when healthy, you can see their ribs, but they are at their ideal weight. Not saying she was at her ideal weight here, but she looks healthy and given that I've read the comments from her humans, I know that she was skinny because of weaning and stress. That's a state any animal can go through when something changes in their environment. Adopt a dog from a kill shelter? Dog might go off eating until he/she adjusts to their new home. Or even shelter animals and horses/mules/donkeys in kill lots often go off eating for a time because of the stress they are under. For one with little real-world experience with horses but one that watches videos on them-and animal abuse videos... (the kind where they raid puppy mills or horse abusers, to save those still alive) I have seen what horses and dogs look like when seriously skeletal thin... Coconut is not that here at all. Plus, I doubt her coat would look as good if she really were underweight from lack of adequate feed and similar health issues. She's beautiful and a lovely young girl... Perhaps educate yourself and watch some of those animal rescue videos on horses who are truly starved... or look at Kill Lots, you see horses there that are truly in need of help. Maybe look up a horse rescue and donate if you are concerned about a horse that needs help.

    • @downundercolour
      @downundercolour  7 років тому +2

      thanks Tania she sure filled out beautifully. She looks tucked up in this video as she was still going through the stress of weaning. We had rescued her dam and after having Coconut she was extremely lame so we had to euthanize her when Coconut was barely 3 months old. So her weaning was really hard on her. Her mother was walked waaaayyy up the road before the vet helped her over the rainbow bridge so no other horses could see anything. It was a very sad time for us and poor Coconut. We normally slowly wean with the mother across the stall from each other so they can talk and see each other and then after 3 days we put them next to each other in separate pastures so weaning is normally pretty drama free. but for poor Coconut it was really hard on her :( which is why we babied her so much :)

    That price actually doesn't surprise me. Many people will sell their horse for like more than $20 or $30,000. Whoever pays for the horse the horses current owners knows that their horse/foal/colt is being cared for!!!! Im saving up for a horse and considering on training and competing in horse dressage and horse jumping competitions!!!!! Owning a horse is not like owning a dog. There is lots of responsibility and hard work that most people don't even think about when they want to buy a horse. They might be like oh i want to buy or adopt a horse but they don't even take into account on the chores/training/vet fees that goes into keeping a horse

      colleen cowell Does she at least have good blood lines? I highly doubt anyone is gonna pay over $70,000 just because she's a pretty color and is good around a raincoat.

      "Medicine hat": An unusual type of Pinto or Paint coloring where the horse has dark ears and poll (like a hat on the head), but surrounded on all sides of the head and neck by white.

    I love how you guys pull on her face to move, and that you braid the mane. When she shakes her head, it acts like a whip and hurts the horse. Plus the mane offers sun protection since they get sunburnt easily because of there pink skin!

    Medicine "CAP" who writes this crap? Anyone who has the tiniest bit of a clue knows its the correct name is Medicine HAT.Ifyou are representing a product of any kind do some research if you don't know anything about the subject

    • @downundercolour
      @downundercolour  6 років тому +4

      Sorry mate she is a cap not a hat. She has white between her head and ear so she is not a medicine hat. On her registration papers they wrote her down as a Medicine Cap Tovero Color. So i can actually show her in Tobiano or Overo Color at any show. So your rude comment is invalid.

      Coconut just got over being weaned which is the most stress a horse should have in their life so i think she looks bloody good. A weanling and yearling should have at least 4 ribs visibly showing at all times. Under the APHA rule book look under conformation for showing and being judged.

    • @imahippi

    • @downundercolour

      Well Justice that just goes to show you and your friends no nothing of horses. I have been in this business for over 35 years and have never owned a thin horse in my life. As i said this little filly took weaning very hard and she is halter bred so has a lot of muscle and mass to fill out. She is now 3 and HUGE and as fat as mud as us Aussies say. She is on the annual vet plan at Newman Equine in Cocoa Florida so if you would like to call them about her or any of my horses please feel free to ask about any of my horses. I have a bloody good reputation with all my horses and all of my animals get above and beyond their needs met.

  • @yohannadeadwyler4315

    I agree her conformation is all off. You are building her up in the hind end way to much and leaving everything from her withers forward horribly small. She just does not look like a $74,000 halter horse. How did you come up with that figure anyways? She has not won in any class or has earned halter points...she has not even begun her show career yet!!! Ellie actually looks way nicer than Coconut!!!

    • @downundercolour
      @downundercolour  9 років тому +3

      Everyone is taking the price way too seriously! We aren't seriously looking to sell Coconut, she is very special to us. Thank you for the compliments on Ellie, we agree!

      lol... Yohanna ... goes to show you dont know your conformation too well...lol.. (PLUS she is a weanling in this video who was just getting over the stress of weaning and this little one took it hard) her bloodlines from her dam to grand dam and grand sire and grand dam and so on..... are full of WORLD CHAMPION SUPERIOR and HALL OF FAME HALTER lines...lol... its funny you say we are building her up we have never done anything with this mare other than lead her round to desensetize her of things...lol.. She has never been put in a round pen or fit for halter and they all go through awkward stages... This mare was bred in the blue and will be in the blues herself when we decide to fit her and show her.
