Hi Lita i think that Hearse was designed for Herman from the Munsters. I feel hhe would be the only one to fit in it for the size. I think it looks great for its age and yes wet all the time and parked away wet does not do any Vehicle any Favours hence the blistering on that top of that Back door. You have time i think the rollers could be used as a novelty as well to do Massages and you pulll into a drive Way under the cover you roll out the Massage table. Hope you have some fun and Robert can Join in to stop you two having to be so serious all the time doing Road Transport. Cant wait to see how it turns out good luck and at least the motor purred like a Kitten.
You need to heat the vinyl first… it’s easier. Then you can buy a vinyl repair kit with a heating iron. You mix liquid vinyl then spread it. Then you put a texture pad on it and use the heating iron it.
Take the vinyl off and the foam. Have the top sprayed with truck bed spray liner. It's textured and do it in black. It will look just like a vinyl roof!
Congratulations that’s a great ride! I wonder if the Canadian company has a build sheet on the vehicle. A CAR/FAX would be interesting to run on it. It would fill in some of her history.
We did do a carfax. It was owned by a Tampa funeral home. After it went to a private seller which was most likely someone who work at the funeral home or knew someone who did. The car has been in one accident which was a rearend hit.
You can find thimbles and pliers to help with stitching the top. These thimbles will fit over your thumb as well as other fingers (maybe try a leather shop, or look online). I dunno about this fascination with the hearse... kinda morbid in my book. But best of luck! And great that you're both so enthused about the project!

I took my first ride in a hearse when I was in the Boy Scouts. Our scout master bought one, an old one, 1959 I think, the old rounded Cadillac. When we went on an outing he would haul all of us around in it, no seat belts, no seats good times. When we pulled into a snow play area, the whole place would clear out in a matter of minutes. Don’t know if it was because of all of us scouts or if the hearse just creeped them out! The guy at the car wash would not even get into it to start the wash cycle, this was back in the days when the cars went thru the car wash empty, late 1960’s.
This is so cool, we had a suburban that came from a funeral home an it seemed like even though it was only used for hauling flowers the chem they used for embalming had got into the interior material such as the hard plastic or vinyl covers of the door and the dash, especially the door panels like right below the window where your arm would normaly rest if you had the window down was rubbing off. It would scratch off so easy with a fingernail if you werent careful. I think though they probably hauled the embalming materials with it too though like formaldehyde. Anyway forgive the ramble very cool.
