I've always appriciated IndyCar's full race uploads and although its a bummer how these half hour highlights supposedly came to be, I find i enjoy it more than watching a full race. Doesn't compare to watching a race live, but as far as watching later I think this is better than a full race
Doesn't even seem like that long ago that I was Laguna Seca watching Colton's dad lead & Zanardi in second place. I remember thinkin that Bryan is finally gonna get his today & then the last lap came, me and my buddy standing there watching as Herta went by thinkin well let's head to the parking lot, Bryan's got this & then the announcers started goin nuts I was like WTF is going on? I looked up at the last turn coming to the checkers and saw Zanardi leading like what happened? Don't seem like that was already 23 years ago but yeah, now watching his son Colton, at least he didn't have to wait long to get his first win. Outstanding drive by Rossi today, the modern day Mario Andretti for sure...
4 different winners in 4 races. I'm new to this so is this what it's like every season with lots of different winners as opposed to f1 with about 4 in a whole year?
In IndyCar every racer has a chance to win since the cars all have the same chassis and only use one of two different engines types (Chevy and Honda). There are other limited ways to modify IndyCars to the specifications of individual drivers, but overall the cars are all built from the same components. This makes it so driver and pit crew skill is the biggest determining in who wins, unlike in F1 where only a few drivers have a car good enough to win.
Still mad about that BS call on Rahal. Seems there is not one person outside of the officials booth that agrees with them. The favoritism is getting Old.
I think I'm 60% against that decision and 40% for it. Blocking can easily kill the racing on track. Plus it can be very, really dangerous. But then it was on the last lap and I can see some reason in the argument that Rahal started moving before Dixon did. But still it was a blatant block.
Rahal made contact with Dixon with the move. Block without question. The only debate was if the officials were going to call last lap podium fights as strictly as the rest of the race.
@@spencerandrews6131 You are allowed one block not reacting to the car behind you. No way Graham looked in the mirror at turns exit specifically because he saw dixon going inside. Dixon stays straight, he would have passed with ease. It was hard racing.
@@easleyrider So when Rahal moved back to the left after blocking the right that was the second move that got him the penalty. The first move was questionable. The second forced the action.
As a alexader rossi fan Im really missing these days I watched him win the indy 500 the first time I ever went when I was 7 but I think he can a agree with me these 5-8 finishes are getting old
Now that I've seen a few more angles of the Rahal/Dixon battle on the last lap; I'm in favor of Rahal on that one. He locked the tires, but made a smart move to correct his mistake by immediately moving to the right to block where he thought Dixon might go. Looked like a clean, smart move by Rahal. Dixon was a lap too late to get the podium due to his bad pit stop and was clearly frustrated by that.
If Rahal hadn't made contact with Dixon with the move I would have agreed with you, but he chopped him. Had Dixon not pulled out of it there would have been damage to his wing/cut tire for Rahal.
@@randydunning3876 Because Rahal chopped across his wing. And then faded back to the other side of the track, in the braking zone. Making the first move, IF it isn't a reaction, is allowed. The second move is not, and is always a block in any motorsport that does not allow blocking.
@@spencerandrews6131 When he faded back at the breaking zone, dixon was half a car length back, not even threatening to pass. You can use the entire road if the car behind you doesnt have a run.
Officials SCREWED Rahal. I always thought you could move once, not twice. He made a smooth turn to the inside. Officials doing their best to turn IndyCar into F1.
How come theres barely any spectators around the edges of the track? Are people not allowed in other than where they actually have benches? You'd think lots of curious people would be lining up to see the race.
Beleaguered Beluga no, they aren’t really allowed. Long Beach native, been going for near 20 years. Was always told to get back from the fence line. There was a decent crowd right at the hairpin though.

Nathan Constable They do have onboards, but none of them are TV onboards. They are ONLY for teams and officials. The camera is in the roll hoop, but NBC can’t use them.
Regarding Rahal's last lap maneuvers, that's the skeeziest clean block I've ever seen. So I don't agree with the call, but given the circumstances and the contact, I can see why it was called.

Something which i feel is wrong with indycar is that if u allow both cars fighting for a position to use push to pass then it will cancel out the net effect . How will a overtake take place then ?
At least the driver in front still has a chance to defend. Its better than F1's DRS where the driver in front is a sitting duck when the driver behind has DRS plus the slipstream.
@@tommythetreat000 well, if a car is chasing and very close to a car in front then that means the car behind is faster anyway . Drs just helps to make that over take . It not like the car ahead is a sitting duck cuz its already slower than the car chasing.

This is probably the most deserved win of the season so far. Alexander Rossi drove the wheels off that thing.
