I’m not sure if you know, but please don’t let the baby inhale cement powder. I understand the life in Vietnam as I am Hmong. But there should be some education about safety and hygiene. I witnessed many sick babies when I was in Bac Ha and their moms would not know why. Exposing babies to chemicals and feces where the food and living quarters are is not good for their health. Please pass this message on.
You're right. Rural Vietnamese people don't know about chemicals and the need for good hygiene. The fact that they don't have indoor plumbing; hot water from the faucet; wash dishes using hot water and dish detergent; cook on a stove instead of the ground; use soap and hot water for hand washing and bathing; use diapers and baby wipes; sterilize bottles, and nipples; keep their breast wash their breast often when breastfeeding; etc. is a big hindrance to healthy babies and others.
I'm sure she would've used a mask or at least scarf to cover tbeir faces, had she known the danger of inhaling the cement dust. She does try hard to keep his face, hands and feet clean. He was filthy, very hungry; and barefooted, when his mother took him to her. She indicated, that she kept him on her back, because she didn't want him touching or stepping on the cement; before it set and dried. He's obedient, but he's a young toddler just around two years old. So. I agree it was better to keep him out of the way of the wet cement.
