=====================================================
| USA ended their run in the Preliminary Round of the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) victory against Japan. TJ Defalco was the top scorer for USA with 15 points. Matt Anderson (12 points), Garrett Muagututia (12) and Max Holt (10) also scored in double digits. The North Americans claimed a total of 8 wins in the Preliminary Round, one more than Japan.
This is what the players said:
Micah Christenson (USA): It's more for pride, for us to end the tournament on a high note and to play good volleyball is always good. We stayed focused through the whole game, they put a lot of pressure on us with their serve and we never panicked, we were always confident and able to come back.
Yuki Ishikawa (JPN): In each set, from the beginning to the middle we were able to read their game and we were able to keep the pace with them. However, in the decisive parts of the sets we were not able to score, we were also not able to keep the momentum and it's a reason why we lost. We should have won a few of the games which we lost here at the VNL, but it was a valuable experience for younger players ahead of the Olympic Games.

Great to see Defalco's improvement. A force to be reckoned with! Nishida is still recovering. Hoping to see his unstoppable power soon when he's fully recovered! Great game.
Finally, I got to see Nishida, Ishikawa and Takahashi in the starting lineup together!
Hoping to see them all in their best form come Tokyo Olympic Games :>
And they did not change court for Set 2?
Takahashi won't play the Olympic Games... the Middle Blockers that Nakagaichi choose was Yamauchi, Onodera and Haku Lee :/
@@kametaniseidi-san3109 He meant Takahashi Ran, the outside hitter #21, not middle blocker
But Takahashi not perform well today
@@nam_1018 too many Takahashis haha, sorry
Well played by both teams it looks like, Nishida getting back on form! Looking forward to seeing more matches and what they do in the Olympics!
Nishida getting blocked a few times but it's a big fight of japan at this game.
Congrats usa.
Always a joy watching Japan plays....
5:48 that's some insane hang time
1:20 theyre playing haikyu music i love it
I was confused at first when i heard it... but when i saw your comment i was like.. yess that s my boys music...
But which one is this... cuz i don't remember them all 🤣😅
@@noussaibahaiker8936 it is called “topakko” haikyuu opening 7
@@noussaibahaiker8936 toppako* i’m sorry
@@noussaibahaiker8936 it’s op to the inarizaki arc
But japan is nothing bro
It's gratifying Nishida coming back to the game, gradually. I hope to see you the games at Tokyo olympics in 100% of your shape.
In this game against USA they were better.
6:10 Erik shoji with the rolling thunder made my day!!!
0:55 had the libero set too
Defalco's best game of all time.
The blocks are superb and his spikes are destructive!
His season in valentina was great aswell he’s gonna be the next big American talent
I remember seeing him play in college out of Long Beach. Dudes has gotten bigger!
Let's go US! Huge presence from Defalco and Anderson was doing such a good job of covering consistently.
Defalco is a machine Love seeing the improvement
First time hearing about DeFalco but he seems like a beast! It seemed like it was a high light reel of his early on. Looking forward to seeing more of him and Nishida
Long Beach State player. HUGE recruit, been amazing forever. He's legit.
Defalco is an amazing blocker. Excellent game
DeFalco becoming what we all hoped for. His block at 23-23 was unbelievable.
America’s block is insane
@@Partizan7060 yeah,so crazy
Japan is a great team although they still have a lot of things to work on, there's something about them that makes me wanna support them no matter what. It was a nice game!!
isn't cause u weeb and haikyuu fans? haha
Yeah bro, I am a haikyuu fan too. But I watched haikyuu because of volleyball. So don't critisize the pros
@@akari3540 uhhhh no, I just really love to watch them play. Being a weeb and this are totally unrelated
@@kantabrico2080 yeah i can know from ur profile tho hahaha, some weeb
@@kantabrico2080 well I did say they have things to work on, but they have great potential.
Bru defalco going crazy good for him that’s sick
So happy they’re utilizing Defalco. He can take over a match.
Erik shoji was on fire today!! USA played amazing.
Japan is still finding their groove i think, new captain, new lineup, nishida’s injury comeback.. I can’t wait to see them back on track and moving like a well oiled machine..
It feels like Japan is still struggling to find their chemistry...
i think soo . they already good for my opinion. but is really lack communication , too much mistake today
@@akari3540 I think that wasn't the problem. USA had really good serve recieves today and blocked Nishida a lot of times. Japan had their teamwork in place, but struggled to find and defend points on serve.
@@aronrabben4768 Christenson’s sets are also too quick for them to read. You can see the defenders are always a step late when the attackers are already in place.
Watch the other games. I think they do great work, they’re just working up against a better team who is just all around on a fast offense and defense.
Nishida also just came back from an injury so obviously it’ll take a while for them to return to their standards. They were definitely not at their best here. Big props to USA though.
yo 1:18 was that the Haikyuu: To The Top 2nd season's opening song?
Yep, they played a lot of haikyuu songs on this match actually. I also heard tobe fly
Yes definitely🔥
Omg Wtff yeah it is.
@@cartoondimensions where can i see the full match?
year, exactally hauhahauh
Best defend and attack by Defalco this game..
Congrats USA
0:58 Erik jumpsetting 😳 it’s so nice whattt
What A Block
Okay now i think Defalco is one of my favourites
3:55 " Oh My Goodness"🤣 when Yuji Nishida serve
bruh i was laughing at that :D
Haikyuu ost on the background damn
I love the match up and think that all of the Japanese players are great, but can we talk about how straight up dominant Defalco was this entire game? Impact play after impact play, insane chemistry with Christensen. I'm excited to see this USA team get even better.
defalco popped off this match
defalco is beast on this match break point on set 3 from 0-4 become 5-4 . great play haha
Hope USA finds their rhythm and chemistry before the Olympics. It’s gonna be really tough for them, especially without Russell and Anderson still recovering. Russia, France, Poland, Brazil… all teams are looking great right now. Really hard to predict who’ll make it!
This game demonstrate that volleyball is not only who’s spike strong but what team also playing tremendous defense!
Amazing game from defalco and nishida 👏🏾
This was a good match! I loved the teamwork in the USA team, but I think Japan will be back better!
That japan and current japan totally different
Current japan is on another level
HEARING THE INTRO FOR HAIKYUU MAKES ME PROUD!
It brought me so much joy Everytime I watch team Japan. Love from Philippines ♥️
I realized Ran Takahashi missed alot of receiving Defalco's serve in the back.
It's my first time to see Erik Shoji do a jumpset. Fantastic. That Defalco x Nishida match up is bomb. And I'm glad that Defalco is improving on his attitude inside the court. He should just maintain that.
That wasn’t Defalco vs Nishida. That was Defalco dominates on Nishida for 3 sets
@@jackwolfskin16 "2 sets
@@jackwolfskin16 just because his is still not at his 100% of form. Instead Defalco was super on fire
Defalco had Nishida’s number. Defalco just dominated Nishida in both offensive and defensive aspects.
@@charlielorenzo3644 oh fair enough i thought he meant on nishida himself because he woke up in the third set
I Love How USA Struggled To Win All Of They Matches They Didn't Lose Themselves After The Match Against Iran Love You Fellers 🇺🇸🇺🇸❤
DeFalco 😍😍❤️
0:58 Eric made a pass like Nishinoya😍
0:50 middle blocker of Japan dodging away from setter's path
Good job team USA. 💪💪💪
De falco is freaking good
Defalco was a superstar for the US. Japan's sets were all over the place the first two sets. Japan will need to cover the cross court shots from the outside hitters better
1:17 The organizer really plays Haikyuu S4 op?!?!?!
i know this is not shoji's highlight, but can we talk about his digs and passes those are insane
The real little giant "nishida"
USA always spike off the blocks perfectly
Amazing Nishida , I love japan
Comments:
50% Nishida simps
40% haikyuu weebs

Hoping for Nishida to fully recover and get back to how he actually is. Aah if he didn't get an injury huhu
Still losing badly 🤣
even Nishida and Ishikawa prime can't beat USA team
@@aliciasalsabila2161 Height difference bruh
@@sanaisgae9899 still lost huhu USA just too strong for japan just admit it
@@aliciasalsabila2161 I couldn't agree more, that's why i said "Height difference" they can't beat USA
kinda sad nishida only played a few matches, its hard to gain momentum after not playing for a week or two
@Lonestar Papa It was a month and a bit, he injured it at the start of May and this is his first full game back
Just trust the coaches decision to sit him out most of the games, its probably whats best
Japan has a decent squad. I hate seeing injuries bring down a good team in any sport. The perfect season to me is a team where every team is 100% healthy, but sports just isn’t that fair
@@Rhys-gv3ir yeah, coaches need to take care of their players after all. playing with ankle injury is not fun at all
@@kelton8852 yea agreed man
Usa & JAPAN ny Fav. Team.❤️❤️❤️🌺❤️
1:19 OST HAIKYUU!! 😍😍😍😍
The guy saying "OOF" at Nishida's serv killed me aha 7:57
The last set is when japan officially came back and they were playing like kings
7:02 melhor momento do video
Defalco is the new Sander. I miss sander and russel
Next Taylor Sander
That Nishida spike at 7:14 thought … That height … My goodness.
Even tho Nishida isn’t jumping as high his serves are still so powerful
I see USA is just taking this tournament to test the new players but I would like to see Sanders play.
I Love You Nishida
BRAVO USA💪💪
I hate how the description spoils you on the outcome. Like, it's in the first line of text and I didn't even have to scroll down on the page to see it. Really kills the suspense.
Defalco is a good blocker..
Left hand, power spike. This man ushijima brooo
I love USA from Thai
0:58 the set was amazing
Japan is my favourite team HANDS DOWN
The matchup we all wanted to see
Welcome to Nishida & Defalco show
3:54 Evaluated "A" grade pick up after Nishida's serve?! OMG!!
I like Nr.11 from Japan 🇯🇵👍

Super spike from Yuji nishida
Oh man this is wild... TJ (Torey) is two years younger than me, and I remember playing his 16s team a lot my 18s year of club
My two fav teams🔥
I didn’t know which team to cheer ;-; Nishida is my favorite volleyball player but Erik Shoji is also one of my favorites
Omfg what were Defalco’s stats in this game? What a f***ing BEAST!!
0:56 nishinoya setting the ball to asahi
Ikr!! It was so cool and it worked out too
Erik Shoji did react to some of Haikyu vids
Team USA is gonna be tough to beat w. Defalco, Anderson, Sander as the main OH rotation.
am i the only one amazed at Smith's set to Defalco, underhand or even that last jump set?
That jump set was nastyyyyyy
Defalco destroyed this match. Unstoppable...
Japan number 2 needs to hit harder honestly
What happened from 1:24-1:48? Same clip repeated itself with neither DeFalco or Nishida getting a point
Defalco is a monster
This was a really good game. A seasoned US team and a young, but talented Japan team. I think Japan will have the edge once the Olympics come.
Broo Micah is insane like omg
Nisida ran Takahashi ishikawa ❤️ but now they don't perform well but I still a big fan of Japanese volleyball team ❤️ from india
The best
Japan's setter always set to the nearest player.
