You really need to point out that this is the new Gotthard pass road which is much less interesting than the original (Via Tremola) The new road may be faster and easier for goods vehicles but misses out on the tight hairpins and climbs on a cobbled road. If you can I would recommend using the old road, you may even meet the horse post coach coming down. I rode this in early June this year and it was a great experience as one of 5 Swiss passes ridden that day.
