As a human mom, who got mastitis, I feel her pain!!!
I hear ya, been there done that too.😢
I hear ya too. Very painfull. Poor mama cow. Fingers crossed she will be ok now. She does well to have a calf and be 13yrs old. What's the age they stop having calve. Shes done gr8 for you Mike.s
Sorry to hear thst
Yes.... feeling flu-ish was the worst. Get that momma some meds !!!!
I can remember sobbing, and the only thing that helped was cabbage leaves in my bra! 🥬👙😵💫
Glad to see Jeff knows his limitations and didn't pick up the calf so nice to see you 2 work together
Yes Something you can say about Jeff is He knows what he knows and knows what he doesn't know. Thanks for watching Joan.
Judy
Great job Mike and Jeff!!!
Our wyoming life I hope you have a great week and I hope you have a great evening and see ya tomorrow
I love it Mike! You gave her a slack on the butt, she turns and looks at Jeff😂
Our wyoming life I hope you have a great week and see ya tomorrow.
Nice to see you and Jeff work together!!👍
I received a message with phone number for My Wyoming Life, I am not sure it is your ranch, responded via email newsletter. Thank you
I cant believe how calm she was. I was expecting a beefer to go ballistic to "protect" her milk for her calf.
And now I cant believe she didnt throw her head all over the place during that shot.
Never know what to expect when ya get one in the shoot. Gotta stay on your toes just in case.
Way to go guys ❤
It was nice to see a simple procedure work on that cow.
I hope everything goes okay in the future for those two.
Thanks larry. I hope so too.
Thanks for sharing our wyoming life I hope you have a great week
Your welcome and you too Austin.
Thank you very much our wyoming life
Well done Mike and Jeff!!
Thank you Dianne.
Great video Mike and Jeff, not a rancher but learned something new today
Great job, Mama and calf look much better. You and Jeff are also looking pleased with a job well done🐂
Thanks Margaret. I can say that we were both happy with the way things turned out! Thanks for watching.
You were breaking my heart when she was screaming in pain every time you pulled on her teets. Thanks for all the education while you shoot these videos. City girl here but find your channel fascinating!
Oh poor mama. She must’ve been in so much pain being that engorged. Great job getting her fixed up guys.
Thanks Misti
Great job Mike and Jeff. It’s great to get the amount of milk you got out of her and hopefully saved her for nursing her calf. Weather is looking really good there today. Only 4 more days before the 24 hr live stream. Time has gone by very quickly. Stay safe.
Thanks jajablonsky.
Chivalrous cowboys saving a damsel in distress 🤠🐄🤠
Never thought of it that way. Makes us sound Galant! Thanks Carol.
So glad you were able this take away that pressure and pain I’m sure that momma cow was feeling! Poor thing. Being proactive is the best medicine.
Phew. That was awesome and scary. So much respect for Jeff when he admitted he didn't have it in him today to pick that calf up and carry it. What great proof that one has to be vigilant on a ranch and always be checking on your animals to catch things sooner rather than later. When you and Jeff were bringing in the cow and baby, I just kept watching and thinking, "They work really well together." Another awesome video today.
I second that! Thank God for Mike and Jeff! They are a team! 👍👍
Poor mama!!! You guys did a wonderful job of relieving her pain. Once a "carrot teat" always a "carrot teat" and it becomes so problematic-😪
I am so happy that you were able to help the cow out today
Us too Rebekah
Classic sour bag. You need to chat with your vet about supplying the right mineral lick tubs. I forget if it's too much or not enough magnesium. Happens during spring when the grass starts growing. If 1 cow could just be her age. If u see another with same bag swap your mineral tubs asap
Poor mama!! But, you guys did a good job helping her!! 👍👍
Our wyoming life I hope you have a great week and I hope you have a great evening and your cattle looks good
I’ve appreciated each and every 30 & 30 so far and all the time a effort put into it. Reminds me of when we had a farm and all the daily jobs necessary to make it run as smooth as possible. So thank you very much. Have enjoys the videos you have been on Utube. Is it possible that the calf is only drinking from one side because the tit has been used over her age? Awesome job guys, mom appreciates it also.
Thanks for sharing that Cathy. Judging from what the condition of the one teat was I suspect it was the only one getting used. Thanks for watching.
Jeff you lost the calf for a little bit of time but I know that mountain drew will never get away!!!! LOL
Oh my word know shes in pain but thankful you all knew what to do for her thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Terresia.
Great job and teamwork, guys!!!! 😊
Thank you so much Mike and Erin!! You guys are such a great couple and I just love tagging along on your adventures 👏🏻❤️🐮
Your welcome The Meg, and thanks for tagging along with us.
That was awesome ! So much relief for momma !!! ❤
Great video! Very interesting regarding the whole process in draining the teats and udder. Very cool! Thank you
Mike I know I said this all the time but it's amazing the things I'm learning watching your station. I may never have to deal with cattle but I just love cattle. And I just love learning this stuff. Thank you for teaching us
You are very welcome!
Hi Mike and Jeff you guys are awesome doing what you do takes a lot of patience just love watching you guys caring for those animals
Love Jeff's sense of humor. Good work as usual Mike.
Thanks Clemens.
Wow Mike, great job
Thank you Keith.
We milked 6 cow twice a day and never saw this before. Good job ❤❤
You & Jeff make a nice tag team Mike...
Hoping the calf can stay on Mama...

Thanks Lo
Our wyoming life I hope you have a great week and I hope you have a great night and see ya tomorrow and I enjoyed the video
Wow, that was a departure from normal. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching Deb.
Hey Guy's, Stay Safe.
Thanks Mark, you too.
thank you Mike and Jeff im learning so much during these videos.
Your welcome Linda. Glad we can show ya a thing or 2 on occasion.
Mike you are a good Cattleman I love your videos I might visit the Ranch this summer
Thank you Johnny
Quick tip that we do if caught early is a warm compress. Get a bucket of warm water and rag. Hold the rag on the affected udder and massage. Sometimes that will be enough to loosen a clogged milk duct. The needle works well too.
That poor mama was in such pain. You could tell from how she was moaning in pain. Bless her heart. I was wondering if a warm compress would have eased her pain. Amazing how she eased off by draining those teats. Hopefully she can nurse her baby until weaning age.
You guys did awesome with that mastitis issue on the momma cow. I'm surprised she didn't kick more than she did... thanks Mike and Jeff
Thanks teri b. She knew we were helping.
@@OurWyomingLife YES! I would bet while you and Jeff "milked" her she felt relief almost right away! That was quite a bit of milk that you were able to get out of her. Now we have to see how her baby nurses..... fingers 🤞 crossed! 🙏
I very much enjoy your videos. Nice to see how truly good people function in your lifestyle.
What you can do is apply moist heat to aid the milk coming out. I’d put very warm (not hot, more like comfortable bath) water with Epsom salts and a little colloidal silver in a bucket and soak her udder for 10 minutes or as long as she’d tolerate it. It would help with her pain too. It’s obviously excruciating.
Good to see mama and baby doing well! Got worried for Jeff when Mom almost kicked him but glad everyone is unharmed!
Had a couple of close calls at the start. Once she realized we were helping she calmed down a bit! Thanks for watching adiostorito
Oh my goodness I could hear that mama’s sigh of relief at least my sigh of relief for her. I got mastitis with my first child. So painful. I feel for her. You and Jeff did an awesome job taking care of her. She would thank you if she could I’m sure of it! ❤
Her moo's were like sigh's of relief to me. Thanks for watching Shelly.
I remember, (this goes back over 40 years) putting warm towels on my breasts to get my milk to flow. Then I used a breast pump. 😳 But it worked! I really felt for that Mama! You could tell she was feeling better as her milk was going into the container! Hopefully her baby will latch on and get those teats working again! 🙏 🐃 🐂
That was amazing. I didn't think anything was coming out when you couldn't even get a drip. I have heard of using a hot towel and putting it on the bag to warm it up, and help the milk to run. Great job guys. Momma should feel much better. Baby will be happy. Hopefully the calf can keep it flowing. Thanks a lot for sharing
Wonder if the calf nurses after having the milk warmed up a bit spoils them? LOL Thanks for watching Gene.
Another nice save for the ranch.
Good Morning everyone 🤩
Howdy Serina.
@@OurWyomingLife 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Mike, enjoyed hanging out with you and Jeff today. My heart went out to that Mom. I know she was in pain, but you and Jeff helped her feel better. Just another day on Our Wyoming Life. 💜💜
Glad you could hang with us Joyce.
Wow! Holy cow🐂! What a show.
Great job you guys. It just shows how much you care. W. Pa.
Thank you Arlene.
I thought you said last year, if they give you babies for many years , they get to live their days out in the pasture, until the end???? 😢🙏 This can't be easy, for sure. You guys are the BEST!!! ON A LIGHTER NOTE:::: I love the turkeys and they are around all the action and you can hear them Gossip lol
Yes, I did say that, but when a cow has issues that jeopardize her or that calf we must think of the future. Thanks for watching MaineUSA.
Wow that's amazing 👏🏼
Great job Mike and Jeff I remember a few years ago you did a video on mastitis. I hope everything works out for Mom and Calf.
Thanks Cmoreson.
Absolutely perfect. Job well done, y'all.
Appreciate that The Snarky Farmer.
As a Mom that breast fed, preventing mastitis is hard work and you don't want it, if you can help it. So glad that you could help her be more comfortable....cute calf, too.
I remember my dad having to do that to a cow on our farm. Certainly bring back a memory.. Keep up the good work guys.👍❤️🇨🇦
Call from HR.. LOL Jeff. Good job men! The cow looked pretty cooperative considering her 2 left quarters were so full & teats plugged. Hope the calf will be able to keep the milk flowing now. Years ago I had a Angus cow that had to be milked while she was producing colostrum because it was so thick the calf couldn’t suck hard enough & her teats would plug. Had to dilute it some with warm water to reduce the thickness & bottle feed her calf a few days. After her milk came in it was a lot thinner in consistency she was fine & the calf could keep her empty. It was about a rodeo the first day of milking her 4 times then she settled down & didn’t try to kick me through the stall wall the next 2 to 3 days. Yep.. fun times! Lol.
Wow what an awesome video guys…!!!
Thanks Susan, glad you enjoyed it.
You have so much going on and we are only seeing a small portion of your day. Poor Mama I just want to hug her and tell her everything will be OK.
Thanks for watching Liz.
Thank you Mike. A very informative video.
Your welcome, and thanks for watching Dave.
Now as an ol mom of five grown children and had all my kids at home with my midwives, we never once bought a can of formula, believe you me, I felt her relief. It did kinda make my heart hurt a little when you said she was going to be jerky next year because she is getting old and that this would more than likely happen again..😔... But I did chuckle when Jeff said he'd probably be hearing from HR later! Mike you made some funny comments too, at least you cowboys can still find humor in something as serious as that was! Good job getting ahead of the game...It could've gotten much worse. Again, my hats off to y'all! 🤠 Ranching is not for sissy's, that's for damn sure.
Just amazing, this was defiantly a learning experience! Jen and I hope to see everyone this summer. Thanks Mike!👍
No Jeff you are a big help we’re all thankful that your there. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️Granny B
Absolutely!
Wow, one of the most fascinating videos I’ve seen on your channel! 👍🏼
Thank you Steve.
Great job 👏
#26 what is up brother and Jeff from the imperial county California 👍👍🖐️🇺🇲
Doing good here Francisco. Take care of yourself.
Hi Jeff
Wow, I gotta say, I learned a lot today! Thanks Mike for being so well spoken in how you explain what's going on. Glad to see the results! Fingers crossed it all holds !
Your welcome, and thanks for watching Evelyn.
Mike you amaze me with all of your knowledge! I am sure a lot of ranchers would have had to call a vet.
That was so educational, we have been lucky to never had this happen. Thank you Mike and Jeff, in one day you went from Ranch Hand to Dairy Farmer.
Glad you like it Tambra.
Love these daily videos and how wonderful the care you give the calf’s and calves. Great job .
Thank you. For talking about some of the less fun sides of raising livestock.
Your welcome Lexie E. Raising livestock isnt alway pretty, but it is a necessary part of things on the ranch.
I remember my Grandma having to do this on the dairy farm when a cow would step on her teat. Neat video!
You and Jeff are awesome at taking care of Mama cow. I sure hope it all works out for her and her baby this year. I see why you cruise the pastures so you can catch this kind of thing early. Be Blessed!
Thanks for watching Janes Dough.
Good job Mike and Jeff. You guys do a wonderful job. Catch that in time. Mike and makes a world of difference to mom and the calf
Thanks Bill.
I'm sure mom feels much better. Good job Mike and Jeff.
I think she did feel better after we were done too Sue!
Another great video❤
Thank you Brenda
I was actually able to watch you bring these Two in on the web cam yesterday. Also looked like one of the bottle calves made a break for it and ran out in the triangle pasture, that was pretty funny! 😅
LOL Never know what your gonna see on the web cam Mario.
Great video. Thanks again for sharing!
Your welcome Jesse, and thanks for watching.
This is something I’ve never seen thanks for sharing how often does this happen in older cows ?
You did a amazing job. Hope you were able to keep mom and baby together. You work so hard for every animal on the farm. How are the chick's doing. You hatched?
I'm laying in bed, not feeling well, and I actually laughed out loud, when Jeff said he'd be getting a call from HR later today! It was extra funny, because I didn't expect a rancher to be up on the lingo, "HR", for " Human Resources"!
Then you'd really be surprised to listen to the 2 of them talk of camera. 2 pretty intelligent men IMO.
Jeff worked in the corporate world, I believe an airline if I remembered correctly. So HR would be familiar to him. He loves ranching.
Excellent video well done on the mastitis. It can get out of hand really fast. The 24 live stream is literally just around the corner. I am really looking forward to it. I’m only gonna be able to pop in in the first little bit as I am taking two of my foster babies, cats, to the paw association to be delivered to their adoption homes. These are special ones as I have had them since birth as their mom was very ill and couldn’t look after them and they came into my hands. I called them the Littles and now they are going off to adoption plus the paw society is having a bake sale on Saturday. But after that I definitely will be attending the 24 hour lifestream. It’ll definitely cheer me up after having to say goodbye to my Littles. I’m used to passing my fosters onto their adoption homes because it’s what we do we rescue we foster we pass them onto their adoption homes and make room for the next but these little guys just have a extra little space in the heart. Bless you and see you tomorrow.
Appreciate the work done by foster organizations and all their people. Thanks for all you do Teresa.
Poor cow seemed in a lot of pain
You guys did great she must've felt really good after that.
Thank leoo olong. I know she definately felt better!
Thanks so much for your Help of understanding about the 🐄🐮 cow's getting the very painful Mastitis ⁉️Greatful for your input on very Special stuff about a Heard 🐄❣️
Your welcome Joyce. Thanks for watching.
At 79 years old I learned a lot today! I grew up on a farm but my Dad wouldn’t let me near the barn for calving or any other interesting stuff. Protecting me I think. I did learn to milk cows and run the separator and feed! I enjoyed doing that bit of farming as a kid!
Thanks for sharing that Elaine.
