Why is it that so few Sony fans will admit that they got some work to do? I'm seeing comments like shit is fantastic for Sony lol. First party output looking spooky
Puertorock did a great video on this. Sony averaged less than 2 first party exclusives per year during the PS4 generation and it looks even more "spooky" if you take away 2017 which was the banner year for first party. The reason it seems like much more is the third party. People cite games like Bloodborne, Persona, Spiderman (before Insomniac was first party), and Final Fantasy etc when they list first party games when in reality they aren't. In reality when it comes to first party PS5 is outpacing PS4. 3 years of first party output came out in 2022 alone.
Jackmove is a prophet.
Yet he's been wrong 90% of the time lol.
How, exactly?
Lowkey
First party games are very important to PlayStation because it’s the only benefit of getting one.
FF XVI is not 1st party yet it's only available on Playstation 5, isn't that a valid benefit?
@@davidgomes969 Well I was having fun with FF 16. Top 5 game of the year. But then someone told me it was third party. So i chucked it in the trash. Only first party games count. *Sarcasm*
Jackmoove tried warn us about thumb face Jim Ryan. 2025 will be better
Wouldn't count on it, but hopefully so.
PlayStation has always placed importance on Third Party exclusives since the PS1. It wasn’t until the PS3 that you Twitter bros only started to see it as a Naughty Dog box.
Just speaking for myself, first party was never my reason for choosing a console. First party games are just the icing on the cake.
I am still trying to get through my backlog of games tbh. Especially open world ones like Horizon 2 which I haven't even had time for.
@@ANGELOFDARKificationcurrently playing Forbidden West rn, almost done with it and then moving on to RoboCop. Started playing one game at a time as to not increase my backlog and truly appreciate games and it’s been a great time so far
@ANGELOFDARKification I'm in the same boat and have been for years. I never understood how people have time to beat all these games quick enough to keep up with all the new releases. I understand their concern for the future, but worse case scenario, I'll probably be spending time catching up to with my backlog.
PlayStation can’t only put out one big exclusive a year. That’s nothing. Nintendo is outdoing PlayStation and now Xbox is breathing down their necks.
2025 might be the same depending on where GTA 6 releases. It's kinda crazy 2024 is not packed with that game coming out next year tbh

Gonna be even funnier when GTA gets delayed and suddenly all the developers who wanted to release in Q1 2026 are screwed 😂

Solid take. Sony leaks showed they’re worried about getting “leapfrogged” so they know wassup just need to work on communication.
This is why we NEED a competent Xbox so whenever PS has a slow year we can still have bangers!
there are plenty of 3rd party bangers releasing in 2024....
I didn't say anything about about third party. I want another option besides waiting on Sony all the time, period.
@@slickdrick Xbox doesn't even make good enough games that I wanna play on pc but I get your point. Nowadays the only other option is building a pc since Nintendo isn't for me.
Nintendo doesn't cater to me and Xbox hasn't released a great game in a long time. I literally just said building a pc is my only solution so I'm not just complaining, fuck off dude.
@@slickdrick there's no need for either console with a dumb opinion like that.
Remember when you were the guru of giddyup? When's the last time you rode the horse?
That intro "lets get to the shits"😂😂😂😂😂
Damn....This was from the heart. My man sound like a disappointed parent.
If Sony has commissioned 3rd party exclusive AAA games that are really high quality. I could give less of a fuck if Sony also owns the studio making it. All I care about is if I have access to play the masterpiece or not.
You can be disappointed in PlayStation Studios' output but also simultaneously be satisfied with PlayStation 5 as a platform because of games like Final Fantasy.
Relying on 3rd party is the worst business decision ever. There’s a reason studios and publishers are bought out, ip’s are owned. Publishing is so much different then owning the game, but also owning the talent. Also a reason Sony overpaid for bungie, because of the talent in live service, straight from Jim Ryan’s mouth. With your logic, they should’ve of just worked along side bungie.
If naughty dog, insomniac, sucker punch weren’t bought, you wouldn’t have got all their games, they would have either been bought out by someone else that values their talent, or their next game would’ve been Multiplatform
@@Amearie Relying on 3rd party WOULD be a bad business decision but clearly that isn't whats happening. The first 3 years of PS5 (2020, 2021 and 2022) Sony's first party was pumping out a bunch of games so clearly they weren't relying on 3rd party then. In 2023 COVID and other factors started to have a big impact on firstpaty output.
I find it funny how you are admitting Sony overpaid for Bungie implying they shouldn't have bought them, and then you are also implying that I was somehow against Sony buying Naughty Dog, Insomniac and Sucker Punch.
Stick to a cohesive narrative, please.
I didn't say that it was stupid to buy and own studios. But when it comes to enjoying the playstation platform I don't need Sony to own the studio I just need the games to be there day1. If buying and owning the studio is necessary for games to be there day1 in high quality, then obviously thats the route I would recommend too. But clearly that hasn't been necessary for Final Fantasy and some of the other exclusives.
It is really THAT simple.
@@Blag_Cog I don’t care about you or what you enjoy. I’m talking about how you think what you said makes business sense. There is no reality where PlayStation holds onto games because they’re big releases in 2023. That’s not how game development works, or how business works. Do you know the overhead costs on running a studio, they need to pump them out as soon as they are ready to get that money back.Even then Sony still are laying off developers from studios that are releasing games like insomniac.
And yes Sony did overpay for bungie, for the talent. They gave them a bonus to retain talent so the employees aren’t allowed to leave. That’s not implying that said they shouldn’t have bought them. That’s me explaining why the price is so inflated, and the importance of talent.
@@Amearie there is absolutely nothing about what I said that doesn't make business sense. Having a big successful game on your platform day 1 is absolutely a viable business route and clearly thats Sony's prefered route. Sony as a business makes most of their money from 3rd party games being sold and enjoyed on PlayStation. First Party games also make fantastic money as evident by the insomniac hack leaking some of that data.
I didn't at anypoint say that they are "holding onto games" in 2023. I don't even know why you think that.
@@Blag_Cog whole point was 3rd party and 1st party. Perfect example is insomniac. Made an Xbox exclusive, then got bought by Sony. That’s the difference between first and 3rd party. 1st party, you own the ip and talent, so you can consistently put out good releases. Spider-Man, miles morales, ratchet and clank and Spider-Man 2 all from insomniac . What if insomniac was still 3rd party after Spider-Man 1 and Microsoft bought them. You would have never got those games.
That’s why when you say, you don’t care if a game is 3rd party or not, you just care if u have access to the masterpiece. The fact is you should care when investing in a platform.
Like Bethesda, ghostwire Tokyo and deathloop were exclusive then they got bought by Microsoft.
Now you wonder why Jim Ryan has such a visceral reaction to the ABK situation, like you said he relied on third-party deals
Yea the communication is the biggest part to me u got to speak
Asobi, Bend, Bluepoint, Sucker punch and Firesprite should reveal their games this year. There's no way none of their projects are more than a year or two max out from now.
A bunch of small wimpy studies. Sucker punch may have something but those other studios are start ups and double a studios. The only thing coming from those studios are games like Pac-Man and Tetris lol
Firesprite just released Call of the Mountain last year and Bend just started their full game development last year.
@@RuneMamba more trash
@@RuneMamba You're not going to convince me that entire studio (almost 300 devs) only had a VR game in active production so wanting a reveal of their next project isn't asking much. As for Bend they first mentioned working on a new IP in June 2021, once again a reveal from them this year is not asking much.
@@sleasy01 A full scale Astro game could be great and silence the people who keep saying PlayStation only makes movie games. Bluepoint has huge potential so regardless I'm interested in what they do next, Firesprite needs to show more but they're somewhat in the same boat as Bluepoint for me also almost 300 devs isn't wimpy at all and there's no chance Bends next game isn't at least a massive improvement over days gone in production and polish when it releases.
If Sony keeps relying on the same 4 or 5 studios every year (or every other year) for content we get less first party games. Yes I'm aware dev time is getting longer and longer every gen for AAA but all I'm asking for is announcements for games 2 years away (or less).
First party games was not something that the consoles relied on. It was mostly third party exclusices since the PS1. First party AAA games always came out once a year, it was never two or three per year. If it was two AAA in a year,, then that was unusual.
I got the ps5 to play first party , mistakes were made 😊
Xbox didn’t. They couldn’t, even in the 360 era.
PlayStation always talked about the quality of their 1st party. It’s been their strength.
BG came with Heat this vid 😂 love to see it.
Cant hate on this…i agree fully 💯
First BG vid of 2024??? WE WON
I feel like this was the same conversation the first couple of years with the PS4 where the “Indiestation.” Strangely, with Activision being owned by MS Sony may not leave Holiday 2024 open for third parties.
Yup facts BG 💯🎮
You have to be realistic about these things. Other than Fairgame$, maybe Concord and Death Stranding 2, I don't expect 1st party releases. Just announcements.
I agree. I don't see them announcing a game for the first time in Summer, and then releasing it the same year.
It seems like most games that get announced have a 1 to 2 year minimum buffer before they release. With some even longer like Wolverine
That Sony Bend game is way overdue. I expect to see or hear something from them this year.
Do you really have faith in it after days gone though? I know I don’t lol

I wish but I doubt it.
Haven’t watched a BG video In a while watched while I was eating
Well I don't have a PS5 yet so I have plenty to buy.
For 2024, the major announced games that I think would have any relevance is :
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
- Granblue Fantasy: Relink
- Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash
- Persona 3 Reload
- Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III / The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV
Even with those games, only Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and The Last Of Us Part II Remastered are probably the ones that'll sell the best.
Correction BG! We buy consoles for exclusive games no matter if they 1st party or 3rd party. People brought Xboxone for Titanfall which was a 3rd party exclusive. Like BG you in this community long time. PS5 got Last of Us 2 Remastered 1/19/24, GranblueFantasy Relink 2/1/24, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 2/29/24, Rise of The Ronin 3/22/24

@Amearie maybe not. Sony does tho. I'm gonna let them continue to cook.
Truth is no they don't, folks gonna be slurpin PS no matter what they do, might as well phone it in again
BG speaking truth per usual, one first party game is absolutely unacceptable, especially after canceling your most anticipated first party live service game.
i agree that ps need to do better this year but 2023 was great in terms of games. they had two first party games, horzion call of the mountain + spiderman 2 and they had a big third party game with FF16
He's speaking his truth not (the) truth. First party separates consoles but it's not that important. If it were PlayStation games would sell more units. More copies of Minecraft, cod, and GTA were sold on PlayStation than any of the first party games. And I mean it's not even close. NBA 2k, Madden, fortnite. These are the games that make the most money. PlayStation has brand loyalty. Other than that the normal people don't care.
Let's not forget, Jim Ryan retires this year! I don't know who will take his place and honestly it doesn't look good.
LMAO kid, how many first party games have they released already this gen ? Spoilt brat
It’s acceptable for one year but after that there needs to be at least 2 a year
Whole heartedly agree. Especially if you only own a PS5 for their 1st party titles like I do. Happy New Year
The year for PS3 you're thinking of that was dry af was 2012, not 2010. 2010 had God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers and GT5. 2012 had pretty much nothing apart from Journey. Not all these were first party, but they were all exclusives.
It doesn't matter the distribution between 1st and 3rd party titles. People buy a console for quality exclusives no matter the source. If Sony has five 90-rated titles this year, it could be 100%-0% 3rd-1st, 0%-100%, or 60%-40%. The effect would be the same. Most gamers not only don't care about 1st vs. 3rd party, a good chunk don't even know who made the game. As long as you deliver the goods, how you did it is irrelevant. Xbox 360, the best Xbox, is proof of that. As far as hardcore gamers having standards, they do have them; delivering quality exclusives is the standard and always has been.
People definitely do not buy consoles for exclusives. The majority of gamers just care about COD, FIFA, NBA, GTA and those type of titles. There are small anomalies like something like Spiderman. The 360 did so well because it was considered the online multiplayer console. They also had better exclusives then too but a large majority of gamers are just casual ones. Only hardcore gamers buy consoles for exclusives imo
@@ANGELOFDARKification The exclusives distinguish one console from the other. Not all exclusives are played by the same people so one exclusive may drive purchase for one gamer while another drives it for someone else. But the pattern we always see is that when a new big exclusive drops, that console usually sees a surge in console sales. That is a mix of hardcore and casuals who are interested in that type of game and it provided the pushed them to pick it up.
@@mastershake8747 I agree with you but the biggest factor in a consoles sale is decided by the majority of the market... the "casuals". There's a reason COD always sells high every single year even though everyone just plays warzone anyway. Exclusives matter, of course they do, but they arent the main reason behind a console's success and failure. Wii U had tons of cool exclusives but it had no 3rd party support and the console was whack
If there was actual competition I know things will be different sadly theres almost none really. I remember that indiestation 4 time that was wild . All these studios but we know only 2 what they're doing. No first party mp games but they riase price on they pay to play online service is just inexcusable where
There are no exclusives anymore. It doesn't matter.
Damn shame
@@CaptainCJ97 Yep.
As a person that enjoys my single-players games, I'm more then fine if Playstation is focused on SP games but could they AT least not make their games the worst aspects of Ubisoft and Kojima games, as in making it movie-like with cutscense galore and everything to do in the game is part of a checklist where you have to craft and build crap?
Even me being a big fan of Metal Gear Solid games, at least half of it is filler and there's a lot of nuance and ways of approach, in Sony SP games, not really.
Yea I was about to sale my ps5 the other day lol I just forgot the controller😂
You better not. You better keep that thing and continue being a pay pig
My only problem with not counting 2nd party games (that is a term we use) is games like Bloodborne, the order: 1886 etc are PlayStation published games which are by definition PlayStation games. First party and 2nd are essentially the same. Gears of war was looked at as an Xbox game when it was being developed by epic games but that was a 2nd party but we all treated as a first party game.

Great coverage as always 👊🏿💜
Sony can't do better because it takes at least 5 years to make the next TLoU and costs over $300M. In the end not enough PS players buy games to recover the time and money spent. The current gaming market (tons of free-to-play games) and gamer expectations have changed for games that cost $70. Sony is trying to shift to live service games but its core base hates those kinds of games.
That's not what I hear. People like Craig Harris and Guapzilla say Playstation beats Xbox, beats Nintendo, hell, even PC. I mean let them tell it more people bought consoles in 2023 than they've purchased PCs and Switches and everything else in the history of gaming. Every podcast and Playstation space is Sony dick riding in unison. Maybe I was wrong about you. Thank you for being better.

They better get their shit together, I'm tired of this new "keeping everything secret to an extreme" approach they've started since the PS5 release. I doubt it'll get better this year though. I predict they'll release maybe 2 first-party games (if even that much), and just use third-party to pad the year out. They'll announce the PS5 Pro maybe at CES or at the next SoP or Showcase, that will probably be in March or around "E3 time". I'm not very excited though, which isn't a good thing. Say what you want about Microsoft, but at least their base has multiple examples of what's coming this year.🙏🤔
They better have a game to release the PS5 pro for. I think they released Horizon for the PS4 pro so maybe they just wait till they have something to launch it in a bundle with.
I agree
If u aren’t a Sony fan boy again AREN’T a Sony fan boy and u dislike BG u have issues because he crit any and everything and that’s what makes him standout frfr

3rd party are the fillers in between. 1st party's is key .
Facts
Wrong, majority of people are not buying first party they are buying third party also a big factor on what they pick depends on where their friends are.
@cj7011 I said the first party is Key ,and it is peostay for the first party it is obvious that the 3rd party, like I said, are fillers, especially at Sony. 1st part is the draw. Of you have two machines that play the same 3rd party people then say ok what else do they have to offer. Sony offers more and better quality that equals the skull drag that Sony is doing in sales compared to xbox.
Man where the battlefield mp gameplay at
So far, as far as 1st parry IP's for Playstation that are confirmed for 2024. Is
•Helidivers 2
•Concord
And obviously MLB (which is made by 1st studio).
Helldivers 2 is 1st party. I know people try not to acknowledge it as if it isn't but it is. The IP is owned by Playstation. It's no different than LittleBigPlanet/ Sackboy games having the dev being outsourced to Sumo Digital. When the studio that created the IP & the characters is media Molecule (a 1st party studio). Or having Bluepoint before acquisition, making Demon Souls, Shadow of the Colossus & Uncharted Collection.
But other than those 3 confirmed 2024 games which are all multiplats. Some other games that have been speculated to come in 2024 from people that worked on it or played them. Are:
•Death Stranding 2 (also 1st party/ owned by Playstation).
•Fairgame$
Also Marathon was supposed to come in 2024 also. Bungie confirmed that when they said the game was now getting delayed to 2025. That's a decent amount of games to honest. Regardless of how some people may feel about multiplayer games. This is still Playstation providing new 1st party games. & hopefully these multiplayer games are a success. Because it will be the money made from these multiplayer games that will end up help fund the big blockbuster single player games ! That's why they're doing the multiplayer games in the 1st place. To generate more rev. With the big single player games like Spidey 2 costing $315m to make. Those numbers are getting more and more ridiculous. They need a way to bring in more money to support those budgets. & these multiplayer games are their gateway to that. Otherwise they're either gonna cut back on dev quality & spending (ie those short episodic games chopped up & actual costing consumers more money !). Or increasing cost in other places. I'd rather these multiplayer games be successful and they get the money needed from those ! Than for ne as a consumer to have to take on more cost increases as a consumer. So I'm rooting for these multiplayer games.
Also the remakes & remasters also contributes to extra Rev
The answer is pc day and date.
@@Amearie well they are doing day & date with all the multiplayer games because multiplayer games rely on a large healthy playerbase. Where they are willing to risk game piracy on PC in favor for player count. + they can still make money from the pirates through in-gsme MTX. & even if they don't buy the MTX either. They're still helping contribute to full lobbies & larger community for that game by just being there.
As far as single player games. They've already seen PC players don't buy many copies of the single player games (I think max for any game was like 3 million). So risking piracy isn't worth it for a brand new games that would probably sell 15, 20 million copies otherwise. Like they tried putting a new game into PS+ 1 year after release also wasn't worth it. They miss out on a lot of revenue doing it. Not worth the risk with the budgets that they put into those games.

3rd party games matter but 1st party games are what moves the console. I am a PC gamer I own a PS5 but that's only for exclusive games I want to play which are few and far between. I don't think every exclusive game they release is amazing I played Demon's Souls remake. Ratchet and Clank rift apart. Horizon Forbidden West and Burning shores. Spiderman 2. Forspoken too sadly. @@danzoelizio2288 Console exclusive. True exclusives don't really exist anymore except for Nintendo. Everything from PlayStation and Xbox is a timed exclusive at most
It's not first party.
facts BG
Some people in here still talking about xbox is the problem with the community 😂
I agree with everything you’re saying, but Stellar Booty is definitely a day one buy for me
It has to release first goofy.
Stellar blade doesn’t even have a release date.
Wym? Y'all got a new season of The Last of Us TV show, a God of War TV show, a Horizon TV show and probably another movie or two. Pray hard enough and you might get another random peripheral that'll be dead in 3 months.😭
On a serious note, 2024 is looking like a backlog year.
Bro i buy my console for capcom games😂
This is fucking stupid. It's been 3 years since the release of this console, and we've yet to see what it can really do due to still having cross-gen games coming out and we've yet to actually get "next-gen" games - on top of that, we're basically in a recession, who's going to pay for yet another console? Games! I want games.
Than youtubers shouldn't be hypocrites when these companies buy other companies to increase output
Pray the gospel BG.
IMO I think this is years is gonna suck again for PS5, no fucking 1st party exclusives I want to play, it is not acceptable, I don't care if they announce shit ton of games this year, for next year.
PlayStation has set my standards so high throughout the years that they have to do better. I agree.
Glad my gaming life doesn’t revolve around what Playstation does lol especially since they only make action adventure games which has never been my style anyway.
I'm gona be needing some crazy announcements this year, they absolutely can't leave us in the dark again
You need to lower your expectations Playstation has major issues right now but I think another of your triple AAA is going to be double A games as far as first party
Nah but what you gotta stop doing is saying they can win off “market dominance” cause the MARKET of gaming is SOLEY console sales.. The fact that arguably the BIGGEST game reveals for the TGAs where Xbox exclusives (Hellblade 2, OD, Blade)… While besides GOW DLC, NO big game shown skipped the Xbox platform says publishers DONT see PS as the “dominate” platform anymore..
They have to step it up asap 💯
Bro just say your mad factions was cancelled 😂
2024 will be the year of delay announcements
Why do PC gamers care more then consoles owners? Could it be PC gamers want consoles games because that's the only way their PC's get a real workout 🤔 send $2000 or more just to play top down games with pretty cut scenes😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If pony’s didn’t buy forspoken & ratchet why would the care for stellar cheeky & ronin 😂
You still can’t deny that 3rd party is what arguably gave PlayStation their prominence. Final Fantasy, GTA, and Metal Gear have all done more to establish the all-time legacy of the PlayStation brand than any first party game on PlayStation until maybe the Last of Us.
3rd party started it but at that time they didn't have many viable options outside of PlayStation. Also, Sony bolstered that with their own games at the same time. Now the 3rd party do have viable options AND Sony isn't putting up games to go with the 3rd party. Horrible optics and reality.
Sure but shit changes, Sony themselves said a few months ago they want to become less reliant on 3rd party games going forward; this is the year to show that.
@@JackmoveJohnny901At the end of the day, most people don’t care where the games come from as long as they are exclusive and good. You think people look at a FF7 Rebirth, a highly anticipated remake/pseudo-sequel to one of the most important video games of all time, and think “oh is this first party?” No, they will see that it is exclusive to PS5 and therefore, it justifies their purchase of said console.
Y’all gotta stop pretending first party isn’t important, third party is great but first party games push the brand forward. We need BOTH, simply put
@@captainziggy82I don't think people are pretending, some people really just don't care if a game is considered first party or not. Even those that do don't necessarily care about every PlayStation franchise.
It sounds like you probably just like first party games more than the average pony.
They should have kept up with days gone part two would probably be dropping this year
I agree they have to do better, but I think Playstation's brand has been about exclusives in general (1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd party) - not necessarily just 1st party. FF7-10, GTA series, MGS series, etc from back in the day all come to mind.
