Also this unit includes Taeyong, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun and Mark. Also known as “the founding fathers”. They were the first NCT lineup for NCT U and all 5 of them were apart of “The 7th Sense” which is the first ever NCT song to have been released. Hence the nick name founding fathers 😭 All 5 of them have gathered up again to comeback for the first time since 2016.

NCT U is basically any NCT song that isnt one of the main groups (127, Dream, WayV) or all of them (which is usually followed by the year). So Universe, Make A Wish, 90's Love and most of the b-sides on the full group albums are NCT U.

Back to Topic: no, NCT U has been continually active since boss and they have NCT 2020 and NCT 2021 album releases between then and now, in addition to many released singles, so make sure you listen to other commenters’ recommendation for more awesome music :)) NCT 2023 has also released track videos (another SM initiative) for their album b-sides with two just released and another two shortly.

like they literally decided to change plans for it very last minute!?? and basically showed how low the proper understudy future planning for their trainees..not to mention the absolute lack of empathy or care for fans!! especially after realizing that the original unit lineup was literally waiting for yushi’s 19th birthday so they followed sm’s adults only rule which apparently got canceled too!?? srsly sm clearly giving up on nct brand seeing how they harmed one of its core values like that
@@sunflowerangelnctzen I have been a fan of SM artists for over 15 years. It does not surprise me that this happened. I also think in the long run it is actually a great thing for Shotaro and Sungchan. In RIIZE they have more opportunities to shine because of their being less members. We also get to see them sooner. Also…NCTzen do this every time. I still remember when people talked badly when Sungchan and Shotaro were introduced into NCT. Everyone ended up eventually loving them and I imagine that will happen with the new darlings as well ☺️

I was scared as soon as they dropped the song title. But it slaps HARD. I’m with you on repetitive chorus but for some reason NCT can do it and it works. And you know Doyoung in any song is the bridge killer. Also side not. Ten looks like he has no bones cause he’s a contortionist too. Dudes sick. Look up the dance he did I think called demon. perhaps this explanation from an old reddit post i read could help you understand nct concept
but think of as NCT being like Vogue magazine, and goes as:
NCT U is Vogue Special Edition (it changes with every season or occasion because with every comeback the lineup is different so their songs could have any of all units members and in any number)
NCT 127 is Vogue Korea, made up to mainly promote in korea but also elsewhere just like any other kpop group.
NCT DREAM is Vogue Teen (its main concept was to be an open unit made of only teenagers rule, where those who become adults leave to either another fixed unit or wait for one of the future fixed units..but all that got canceled and now no one is leaving and its a fixed unit with its same original lineup)
NCT WayV is Vogue China, made to mainly target the chinese market while also promote in korea and elsewhere..but unfortunately due to political tensions between korea & china, they have been struggling to achieve the original goal..and sm seemingly now in the mid of deciding how they’ll function ig
NCT Tokyo is Vogue Japan, which is an upcoming new unit which is made of absolutely new members! which is set to be the final and last unit and members to debut under the nct system or brand! (previous nct members shotaro,sungchan were supposed to debut in this unit along with smrookies shohei, eunseok, seunghan but sm canceled this plan suddenly and decided they would debut them in smnbg which is currently riize! while the new nct tokyo members were to be picked thru the program you mentioned “nct universe lastart” which isnt perceived well by many nctzens bc of how sm change their plans)

NCT began with the NCT U concept- NCT United: any line up of any active members can be in the song, it's all about the concept and who fits that song. I can understand the confusion but the collaboration and creative possibilities that it offers are really at the heart of NCT's concept- unlimited connections and experimentation.
The debut song for all of NCT was from these five doing 7th Sense seven years ago. (They also released an amazing NCT U song called Without You alongside it that really showcases their main vocalists) This begins the pattern of NCT U songs.
They either appear as singles or, more commonly, as part of a large NCT-wide project albums where everyone comes together.
There have been four of these major NCT projects so far (each one is referred to as NCT followed by the year so):
*NCT 2018 - Empathy* Home of classics like Boss, Baby Don't Stop, Black on Black and Yestoday as well as including previous singles 7th Sense and Without You)
*NCT 2020 - Resonance* (double album release and the largest of the projects, partly because of lockdown so everyone had the time to get together) Home of classics like Make a Wish, 90s Love, From Home and Work It
*NCT 2021 - Universe* This is when they released the MVs Universe (Let's Play Ball) and Beautiful
*NCT 2023 - Golden Age* Another double set of main MV releases: Baggy Jeans and Golden Age
The members spend most of their time working in their fixed units (127, Dream and WayV). What makes these big NCT project albums so exciting for us is that we get to see new combinations of members working together and very different styles of songs. It's not easy for them to get together due to very packed schedules but we really look forward to it. I hope you enjoy reacting to more NCT. It's really a wonderful range of music (you never know what they are going to sound like next) and NCity is generally a crazy fun place to be :)

Well you weren't wrong that they were the original unit😆although NCT U is a unit of NCT wherein members change depending on the song, given that they usually use this whenever they come together as a whole NCT like in 2018 with empathy, 2020 with Resonance, 2021 with universe, and 2023 with golden age - these albums MOSTLY consist of NCT U songs. This is why fans usually call the combination of certain members by a song name because they were together under an NCT U song.
NCT U was the first ever unit that debuted under the NCT brand in 2016 and the debut song was 'The 7th Sense' consisting of Mark, Jaehyun, Taeyong, Doyoung, and Ten (before any of them were introduced as members of NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV) One of the reasons and probably the biggest reason why the song gained attraction when it was announced was because of the line up - Mark, Jaehyun, Taeyong, Doyoung, and Ten - the very same members of 'The 7th Sense' Unit, and we went crazy because this unit is legendary. Aside from 'The 7th Sense' being such an amazing song, these 5 members are amazing individually and are all now very successful artists and it's just amazing to see them all together again in a song after 7 years.

Ant, any NCT 2018, 2020 or 2021 song that wasn't Wayv, dream or 127 is an nct u song. Some examples you've hear are like make a wish and universe. If you listen to their big collab albums almost all songs are nct u songs bc the whole point of nct u is to put people together who fit the vibes of the song. Hope this helps!

NCT U is not a fixed group---NCT U takes members from any NCT group in order to make a song. For example, Ten from Wayv is in this song and so is Jaehyun from NCT 127

Nct U has been active I think you reacted to universe let's play ball and that universe album. That was an nct u project since the songs all featured different mixes of the members.
You just never know what the NEOS are going to do I'm excited to listen to the project they always have some cool stuff in there. You see why we couldn't choose whether you should react to the NCT 127 or NCT dream killing voice? No matter how wild the song is they are always going to give you a vocal moment.

Honestly not sure how to feel about this song. Except for Ten's prechorus, its not really calling on me to listen to it again and i dont really plan on forcing it lol. I just don't think its quite my style musically which is fine.
Crazy to think this could've been its own group though, these 5 are so incredibly talented i really wonder how they wouldve evolved musically since the 7th Sense.

NCT 2022 resonance will always be superior sorry NCT 2023. I was praying I would like this comeback considering I haven’t really been vibing with their latest projects for 127 or dream besides wayv of course.
