I always thought that you did an excellent job filling a huge gap in the market. Nobody else is doing a good job discussing the most important issues of our time.
"Our mission is to produce the highest quality intellectual content in the world [...] we are gonna produce the best contemporary news coverage of the development of AGI" that a good thing to aim for (non ironic). It will be hard. Please don't give up!
I’m sure many people will, but Joe is simply out of his depth when it comes to asking more technical questions about technology, history etc.. In that respect, people like Dwarkesh and Lex are much better at asking the right technical questions.
While I recognize the importance of the challenges on the path to AGI, I believe the Dwarkesh podcast is more than just the best AI podcast. The title doesn’t fully capture its depth and potential. Over the past few years, I’ve learned so much from a range of intellectuals I hadn’t encountered before. The podcast doesn’t just showcase their accomplishments-it gives them the space to dive deep into their ideas, while also challenging them to think critically and dream big. Whether the focus is on AI or other topics, I hope it continues to be broad and inspiring, offering hope to young people. I’ll keep following this incredible journey.
doing god’s work Dwarkesh. From the great words of Steve Jobs, we must “stay hungry, and stay foolish” in order to achieve success in the world post-AGI and post-ASI. Thank you for your podcasts, which have helped me gain so much knowledge from the smartest people in this space.
I totally agree with your late 2020 covid perspective. Very clever. I made the mistake of being too late with that, by only being a little too early, and I've made the mistake of being WAY too early with AI. I'm sure the right folks on your team will allow your podcast to continue to grow as well as it has, nice idea with the 20k referral bonus. I hope it pays off.
I have realized AGI would be a thing very early in my life. Due to some circumstances i am currently persuing degree in medicine. I consider myself quite knowledgabe about topic of physics, AI, genetics, history. I would like to make contribution in explaining these topic to general public without expectation of any payment. Self volunteer 3-4 hrs everyday
I'd love to work with you guys, but sadly am still in College(software engineering) and don't live in the US of A. So Sadly probably won't even be close to being the candidate you would be looking for haha. I love what you do, your content is something special and something important and the world needs more of this!
Also, where can I send my resume? I've also grown a company to an acquisition with National Geographic. I have five years of experience with LLM and I was one of the early access developers with GPT 2 to help open AI
Word of advice man, since you have engineering experience at Apple and Amazon, you should just lead with that over philosophy. And if you don't have an engineering degree you can turn that into a positive because you've developed a similar body of experience on your own.
@@shazmosushi I've found my philosophy degree to be about 10 fold more valuable than my engineering career. AI ethics and alignment is a big deal. Philosophers will dominate the AI era.
OMG I think this is the worst way ty hire anybody. You are going to get swarmed after this $20k offer by all sorts of advantage seeking shady people on the internet. If anything, the hiring process will be harder, than if kept non public. IMO P.S: Thank you for what you do!
I am from india, 4yr job exp in software and have around 5% exp in ai(running models, python but not math). And 0 experience in editing/producing. Am i eligible?
@DwarkeshPatel I have created a solid Airtable Interface database we use to manage the content creation process from ideation to publishing on various platforms. Our editors are able to access the raw video and then return the edited versions at which point our publishing team begins the process of writing copy. Happy to share a copy of it with you if you like
Hey Dwarkesh, I abs love your podcast, I think its the only one worth listening to. Would you want some part-time people helping out too? Is there a way to be involved without necessarily getting paid?

And why are we comparing AI to covid? because there was a timeline of response and the news had decisiveness implied? I don't see why we're just comparing the two most sequential events. Not Gasping.
I like your stuff, especially your interview with Sarah Payne, but you just compared Joe Rogan to the New York Times. That's straight out of the playbook of conspiracy media; they claim they're just as good, if not better, than our most rigorous outlets, and people will agree because they're being pandered to. I have some experience writing about China. I don't know what access or info you think you'll get that these big outlets, some with whole teams, haven't tried for years to get. Journalists dedicate their entire careers covering one field in an important country, and a person covering AI in the U.S. isn't going to be the same as the one writing about history, because expertise is a thing. That's one of the big problems with shows like Rogan. They don't stay in their lane, whatever it may be, and don't even know why there are lanes in the first place. What is your lane Dwarkesh? Is it AI or is it geopolitics? Or is it science or semiconductors or history or the military? Or will you be just slightly better than Rogan, and just be an expert in everything because you read a few books ahead of time? That's how you get to popular content, not intellectual content.
Dwarkesh... I gotta be honest; what the AI space really needs is reporting and analysis by people who operate from a more spiritual perspective. I am appealing to your Indian ancestry here. Please trust me about one thing--and I say this as a lifelong simulation designer--the road ahead is essentially a spiritual proposition, not technologically foreordained. You have a huge choice ahead of you now... consider it carefully.

So it turns out the Gwern episode was actually a job interview.

fully agree with your points. We are on the cusp, and we all need to be ready. Good luck finding the right ppl
I wish you so much luck and truly enjoy your programs!
Thank you for your podcast, it's one of the most insightful and inspiring media I watched and/or read in my life. Thank you! You're great.
All jokes aside, I love your podcast. Keep up the excellent work. I would say that your podcast is as good as the best episodes of Lex Fridmans.
Lex Fridman is an "intellectual dark web" shill and has nothing on Dwarkesh.
Good luck DP, your passion will carry you through. 👏❤️👍
