I declare that this video is now the official introductory video for the Fighting Wings Game Series... I have all of Fighting Wings games including Air Superiority, Air Strike and The Speed of Heat and they are all great fun. You have done a great service to the niche community of table top flight simulation.
Thank you for the kind words! I find JD Webster's designs to be the perfect mix of fidelity and playability when it comes to table top flight simulation. The fact that there is a very robust online community (in which JD himself is quite active) is the cherry on top. Just wanted to do my bit in spreading the word about this fantastic system. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the kind words! I have thought about doing a playthrough video for FW, especially because there don't seem to be very many (any?) of them out there. It would give people who are curious about, but unfamiliar with, the game a chance to see how it really works. The review may have scared some folks off, with all the charts, etc., but it really does play pretty smoothly once you get the hang of it, and I'd like to show that to viewers. I have a scenario in mind, which is a 1v1 scenario from WotM. It's small enough to be something that is viable to film, and it should demonstrate the air-to-air portion of the game pretty well. I just need to find time to do it. With all the construction that has been going on right outside my game room for the past 9 months, it has been difficult to find opportunities to film (due to noise). However, the good news is that the construction is starting to wind down and I will have a lot more opportunities to get back to filming in the near future. I anticipate getting back to being able to upload several videos each month before the summer is out. That will help clear out the backlog of video ideas I've been building up over the past year. Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for more FW coverage (I also want to show off the operational scale side of the game, as well the ground/naval attack elements)!
I like to not only print them on card, but laminate them for long term use. The only problem, as with many games, is adjusting so they can fit on A4 card.
I completely agree! Each of the 235 scenarios have a blurb on the historical engagement, and JD has not missed a single opportunity to cram interesting bits of info into every nook and cranny of the game. It's an excellent educational tool, as the flight modelling and aircraft ratings vividly demonstrate how and why different aircraft fought differently. I found the Top Cover articles interesting and informative, and would love to see more issues in the future.
@thetabletopsedge For people interested in the aircraft, just watching this video and then comparing the data cards is very instructive. So many people debate aircraft with very limited characteristics. Fighting Wings doesn't model everything, but the stats cover enough to really give a feel for the differences. Even little things like "Oh, engine armor!" come through.
I am convinced Clash of Arms makes nothing easy lol. But it looks awesome. I would want the most up to date one so Motherland would have to be it plus it is Eastern Front@@thetabletopsedge
Great video as usual, and again we both have similar taste (TCS). Have It along with Speed of Heat, Whistling Death, and both Buffalo Wings modules. You might want to have a look at Steve Pancrazios (does he ring a bell ?) WarBirds series. I have the Blitzkreig Vol. 1 module. Only thing Is that It´s print and play. Now you can´t say you don´t know of another game 😉
Forgot to mention. I practically love all of Clash of Arms games of which I have a few. Beautiful maps and exquisite art work overall, acurrarte In their execution and what they want to represent. I find them a work of art and a joy to have In my collection. At present I have Close Action The Age of Fighting Sail Inbound from France, should be at my door next week. Oh and thank you for such great videos on some of the best wargames out there!
@@hex2redonealpha102 I have all of the Close Action materials that have been published. I'm a big fan of the series. Had the opportunity to play a large game of CA at Historicon, with the designer Mark Campbell on the floor moving large scale models across a massive, cloth hex sheet as players call out their plotted moves. There were 20+ players in the games, so it was great to get to play a large fleet action while having to only control a single ship.

Excellent review been a fan for a long time
All unboxing videos should be this comprehensive! Do you plan on doing any scenario playthrough videos?

Not my kind of game, but a great review format anyway! Your videos are always worth watching, I hope your channel keeps growing! Cheers from Sweden!

Great review of a great system.
Does this have tank busting? (NM you answered)
Yes
If you're interested in the topic, it's worth getting just for the sheer amount of information. Top Cover is even more so.

@@ethanmckinney203 100% agree. The educational aspect of Fighting Wings is one of the best in any wargame I've seen.
holy cow....yeah I would never get this game but it looks cool
It's a blast to play, and has tons of historical info, but I know tactical air combat is not for some. Thanks for watching!

Get it and play via a play-by-post-it’s very fun
@@GuyRiessen i do want to try it very tempting

I'll have to check out WarBirds!
@@thetabletopsedge That sounds awesome! Hope you do a video on CA too someday. Again, same taste, wished we would have been neighbors 🙂
