    Excellent video tutorial. The only thing i would add is: when removing the front key cover be careful to detach the connection for the headphone socket behind the cover on the left hand side.

    Thanks, gave me the confidence to fix my MP6 which is very similar. Also ...if it helps others...I used an old 3mm engraving burr bit ( with a small head, about .75 mm diameter), to push the rubber membrane locating pins from the back into their circuit board location holes. This fitted in the small holes behind each rubber pin but didn't pierce the rubber. It was much easier than using tweezers and made relocating the contact strip very quick and easy. (i did use tweezers to do a final check and tighten of the contact strip by pulling on each pin). Thanks again!

    Howdy. Thanks much. One of the keys on my MP7 stopped working. This video gave me the knowledge and confidence to fix it.
    I think the Q-tip and alcohol did the trick as it did remove some dark stuff. By fixing it myself, I saved much mula $$$.

    Epic vid, thanks! I am mortified as the warranty on my ES8 will run out soon and I will be up for some DIY, probably! I still have 15 years old casio boards which work like clockwork, but my ES8 been in repairs fro 3 different issues in 3 years. A shame on the manufacturer, how could they get it both so right and so wrong? Thank you for your labour of love!

    Thanks a lot Lithep !! for this great tutorial ! this give me confidence to repair my MP7 with success
    For opening the MP7 I will recommand this order :
    Flip the keyboard on his rear side . Taking off the 5 screws from bottom rear and the 4 screws from each bottom side . Flip over the back side and unplug the green cables to seperate the keyboard part and the electronic part , much more convenient after .
    For accessing to the rubber , return the keyboard parton a protective cloth , then unscrew the 4 plate screws which are in the middle of the board. then the bottom front screws . As you advice the little screws are easy to take of do it manually no electric screwdriwers. For cleaning i use a cotton stem with isopropyl alcohol and rub all the contact and even inside the receptacle where the rubber contact are to be sure to clean all this part , and this take off some little hairs that i havent eyed noticed.
    For the reassembling : i put the keyboard on his back side and screw genlty the 4 middles plate one, and the front part with his all front screws to adjust the better i can , centering the screw hole with the hole of the board . And then Then i return the keyboard in is right position and plug the green cables . then i put the electronic part in is original positon and screw two screws from the front angles , from below by protruding the keyboard of the table. Then put all on his rear side to finishing screwing all others
    HOpe this could help , even with my bad english !

    After 5 years of daily use I started to get erratic response on 3 keys at the 4th. octave of my ES8. Cleaning the contacts did ´nt help. However, swapping rubber strips from the 7th. octave did the trick. To my surprise all keys are working now!

    Does anybody has a Partnumerber and supplier for the rubber contacts for this model - CS CA models have maybe the same 3 Sensor contacts?

    I did this except I went in blind and wiped all the contacts with my fingers and an eraser, blew off all dust and debris before painstakingly placing the covers back on and now my keyboard has no sensitivity and only plays loud notes. Any tips please ?

    • @Lithep
      @Lithep 3 роки тому +1

      hi Cesar, the issue is no big deal. It only occurs once in the 2 years or so, depending of how much you work with the keyboard. I did it a few days ago; it's done in about an hour now. The Kawai MP7 is such a pleasure to play, that this minor problem is not an issue for me. Many keyboards have about the same contact-strips, like my former Ensoniq TS12. Think it over mate.
