Kids' shows like the Clone Wars are more important than ever, in the world we live in today. Do more than remember it, share it, along with the lessons it had for us.
@@sattymike0155 It's funny because they only got to finish airing the fourth and fifth seasons on CN, a channel for kids btw, before getting cancelled and had to put the its remainder of finished episodes on Netlfix for season six.
The Clone Wars... It's a phenomenon. I remember watching the first episode (not when it came out I don't think). My Dad used to just turn it on and let me watch. I didn't understand a lot of it at the time. I do remember staying up late one night when I was much older and finishing the Ahsokas Arc. My jaw was on the ground as she left the temple. Later that night, I told my Dad I'd finished it. His smile said everything and we continued to watch it when the the final season came out and then Bad Batch.
The Clone Wars significantly enhanced my understanding and enjoyment of both the prequel and original Star Wars trilogies. It offers a compelling perspective on the Republic's transformation into the Empire and provides a more intimate look at the complexities of Anakin and Padmé's relationship. Furthermore, it vividly illustrates the destructive nature of war and provides valuable context for Revenge of the Sith. Overall, it is one of my favorite series, right next to Better Call Saul and BoJack Horseman.
Growing up, one of my first memories is of Bush visiting Iraq at the height of the occupation. I remember those old maps on cable news of Afghanistan, I followed the news out of Syria and Libya, Iraq and Egypt during the Arab Spring. I also watched the Clone Wars. Even as a child it was impossible to ignore the parallels, an endless war often fought against or by proxies far away for ostensible values as those values are eroded at home. Those values defended by a corrupt yet powerful few too engrossed in the war, too enamored by their other aims to see how they have betrayed them. And now I see those values quite possibly defeated for the last time, not as some grand conspiracy, but as the natural consequence of that war which yet endures in the Sahel and Syria and Gaza as surely as it endured in the Outer Rim.
The fact a show that was meant for kids has deeper and more complex themes about war than most actual war movies is just a testament to the clone wars storytelling and I feel like people don’t give it enough credit when it comes to it’s writing and they ignore a lot of the more thoughtful themes that was put into the show
CW fleshed out Anakin as a character so we would understand better his tragedy. It showed him to us as a war hero, and a teacher as he grew from a student to a knight, through the eyes of his padawan. It introduced one of the best characters in SW in Ahsoka, who had a tremendous arc of character growth. It made Darth Maul a real character with villainous depth. It made the Clone Wars real and not just a plot device, and most importantly it humanized the clones. It was great and the best episodes are some of the best SW out there.
Beautiful video. I recently started rewatching the series from the beginning, but this time watching it with my brother who has never seen it before and we've both enjoying it greatly. What I cannot help but feel is how relevant the message that runs through the clone wars is to the moment we find ourselves in. Stay safe everyone.
'I was once a jedi knight, same as your father', growing up with the clone wars was a real treasure, I wish I could be apart of trying to build pieces of these amazing stories for star wars, If I ever got to a position to work on such a project, I wouldn't waste it, and I wish I had people to talk to about such a show, I still don't
In many ways Anakin’s fall to the dark side was a result of the Jedi Order not valuing that which was truly good in him. His love, his attachment, his compassion, his empathy. That Ashoka did value these things, learned from them, and continued to appreciate them even despite learning her masters fate means the world. Anakin’s love, bravery, heart, and compassion helped produce the purest Jedi in the galaxy and that was a testament to the true light that was always in him. Not only that, his rebelliousness and skepticism taught her to have an equally important critical eye. As a result I feel that Ashoka was always the moral touchstone of the Clone Wars/Preauel Era. She represents the young person who grew up in dark and confusing times, who was misled in their convictions, who was betrayed by their teachers, who failed to grasp the changing world around them. Rather than let that era of mistruth drive her into cynicism and isolation. She chose to let go. Walk away. Branch out. Find her own path. Dedicate herself to the compassion and aid she could give. She didn't let her collapsing world take her with it. In so doing she not only came to understand what it meant to be her own person, but also to be a peacekeeper.
I left a similar comment awhile ago, but watching your growth as an editor in real time has been an absolute joy. I look forward to seeing your progression as an artist for years to come
Leaving my comment here so I can come back to the vid tomorrow since it’s nearly 1:30AM and I want to sleep. I’ll edit this when I’ve watched it probably tomorrow morning. Gn everyone
It's been over twelve years now since I first got into Star Wars, at around ten years old. The Original Trilogy (and especially A New Hope) will always have a special place in my heart as my introduction to this universe, and Andor is (and probably will remain) my favourite story to come out of this entire franchise. But The Clone Wars, and subsequently Rebels, will always be MY Star Wars. They are to me what the first three films were to my father and his generation. And they were the stories that, more than any other Star Wars stories, played the biggest part in shaping my young mind and my personal perspective on storytelling, and on the world. This video made me remember exactly why that was. So thank you SO MUCH for that.😊
As someone born in the early 2000s, The Clone Wars was my introduction to the universe. Back then I loved the show especially for its characters, but the older I get, the more I get into politics, the deeper the story gets. A tale of the decline of a once great political power that destroyed itself from within because it was blind to the enemies within its own system and waged a senseless war that inflicted indescribable pain on the people within the conflict. Knowing the characters, experiencing their fate, seeing their brothers fight for a lost war in the form of actual war steppes makes this the best animated series of all time and the pinnacle of the entire Star Wars franchise. I'm glad to have grown up with it because there is nothing like it and probably never will be in the same way.
The part with Anakin & Ahsoka at 12:15 really hit. You could really feel the tragedy of what could’ve been between them, and Anakin’s desire to go back but remembering that only reminds him of everything he lost so he realizes she has to die
I'm just saying I was 12 when the clone wars came out 17 when it was cancelled 24 when it returned. And 28 now. I will forever love this show and the micro series. This was brilliant! Using some of the interview stuff was a nice touch I was thinking of using that idea for my videos as well. I also got a bit of teary eyed.
I've said this before but it's important to say it again. I joined because of your gaming stuff and even though your quality has always been high, your Jurassic Park and The Bear videos felt like a step up. This was also a really well-put-together video Star Wars is something that I like rather than love. I watch a lot of review stuff and because this show was getting a lot of praise I gave it a shot. I watched plenty of cartoons when I was younger but animation was a huge thing for me as an adult. Still... I was intrigued enough to give it a chance. After a little time to settle in in terms of tone, it quickly became an amazing show with great characters.
Remember? Brother how could I forget. I loved this show so much it's why I got a clone trooper tattoo plus a small reason why I joined the Marines. I was a clone trooper.
With the state of the franchise in ruins, I needed to be reminded that it gave us The Clone Wars. I will forever be a Star Wars fan because of this show.
I love your videos so much; the production quality and overall content are outstanding. I would love to see a deep dive into the Horizon games (Zero Dawn and Forbidden West). I think you would really enjoy them due to the extensive lore and content. Keep up the amazing work, and I hope the almighty algorithm recognizes this incredible channel.
Hey man, this is unrelated to the video, just wanted to pop in and say hi! Used to watch you all the way back when you did videos on Clone Wars Adventures! Ran into you in game a few times! Glad to see you're still around doing videos. Just went back and watched you Mass Effect ones a couple of weeks ago. Just finished this video, it was fantastic! I need to watch the show again.
Oh star wars, I miss the you from this era, to have a chance to be in hollywood to influence such projects, i'd love to help what I love to create one more great story
I've been thinking of the prequel era incessantly. Ever since the Democratic party said they had no confidence in Biden, everything has looked like terrifyingly familiar dominoes. Thank you for the video. Great edits.
Trump manufacturing crisis to distract from his ambitions as he positions himself to become a defacto king controlling all branches of government and the Supreme Court with his party of sycophantic yes men who unquestionably obey him and label anyone who refuses as “one of them” …yeah…the parallels are pretty strong
I hope with all I have that the people who need to see what you're saying with this - the obvious parallels you're spotlighting - will open their damned eyes before it's too late... but that hope fades with every passing day we march into the future. Maybe someday there can be a new hope.
For years i looked to find this Video because i new it would be made at some day and now its here. Thanks for that. Only criticism the music is for me a bit to loud especially in the middle part.

The moral arc of the universe exists, but it is not divine. It is bent towards justice by our will and our actions alone. Hatred is always foolish and love is aways wise. Let go of this world and leap into the one you wish to live in. Please, take action. Be kind to all, even yourself. Just don't stand on the sidelines. There will be none left by the time this is all over.
I’m sorry to say this ArTorr but The Clone Wars show is terrible compared to The Clone Wars Multimedia Media Project (novels, comics and video games) and this show actually retconned so much of the EU before the 2014 canon reboot.
If you are talking about the original Clone Wars event, OH YES! Just epic! If you are talking about Lucas/Filoni's bad idea remake, I ignore about 95%+ of it. not much good in a weak remake of far better material, that actually worked with established lore, instead of stepping over it.

I wouldn’t really consider the later seasons a kids show. My whole family enjoyed it.
@@sattymike0155Precisely.
TCW sucks, EU did it better.

@Marsi-MMwas that the one where Palpatine came back twice “somehow” and then Chewbacca was crushed by a moon because of 40k Dark elves
It will never cease to amaze me how people can love a show like this one, but still end up voting for their local Palpatine.
It is no longer rare to see life imitate art; today it is an everyday thing.
I missed you, bud. You still exceed expectations. Well done.
Thank you as always :)

Those wars weren't fought for values. But for capital. To expand American markets and break economical sovereignty of the targets.
The Clone Wars held a mirror to the human race but we failed to see.
"This is how liberty dies; with thunderous applause."
