Once upon a time, in a magic forest painted with the vibrant colors of autumn, there was a small, bright yellow leaf named Lenny. Lenny clung to his branch on a towering oak tree, watching his fellow leaves gracefully dance to the ground.
Lenny was different. He loved his view from the top, watching the squirrels scurry and the birds sing. The thought of leaving his branch, his home, filled him with dread. “Why must I fall?” he often wondered. “Why can’t I stay right here, forever?”
The wise old wind, who had seen many leaves come and go, heard Lenny’s plea. “Lenny,” he whispered, “every leaf must take the journey down. It’s the way of the forest. But fear not, for even on the ground, you will nurture the earth and help new life grow.”
But Lenny was adamant. “I want to watch the snowflakes and greet the spring flowers. I don’t want to miss a thing!”
As the days grew shorter and the nights colder, Lenny held on. He watched as the forest transformed into a winter wonderland and then bloomed anew with the arrival of spring.
The other trees were amazed. “Look at Lenny! He’s still up there!” they rustled.
Seasons changed, and Lenny saw the beauty of the forest through the snow, the rain, and the sunshine. He realized that his fear of falling had made him miss the joy of the journey.
Finally, as a new autumn repainted the forest, Lenny let go. As he fluttered down, he laughed with delight, understanding that every end is just a start to something new.
