Schumann's music is so much better understood for its beauty and craftsmanship when you study his life and see how his troubled spirit especially in his later years was transmuted into some of the most beautiful music ever written. This quartet is a perfect example.

There's hardly anything at all, quite like the string quartet; that also of...the string quintet, as well as the piano quartet...but even so...it's the string quartet which stands out in my mind, and the three so beautifully, and so masterfully, of course, composed by Schumann are a pure delight...Thank You!!....
