Congratulations Josh! Looking forward to the new content! I’m a bit older than you so my first computer usage actually came at an office job. Nothing fun like this!! So appreciative of all you do! And wow just don’t know how you do it with your full time job! I get tired just watching but in a good way!! Thanks to Stef and Liam as well for supporting you in all your ventures! Really awesome family you guys are 🥰
So cool to see this, Love the new channel already! Thanks for sharing an awesome look at this computer Josh, felt really nostalgic and took me back to the first computers we used at school! Great to see Liam as always and enjoyed your excitement ☺️ Amazing! (And great job on the sign off, feels right!)
This was so much fun! I started out with a Commodore 64 in the early 80s....got my first pc about 1993, Gateway. This brought back so many memories using the C-64. there was a time the store was out of disk drives, so I had to leave it turned on when I created or typed in a program. I would watch programs on PBS on Saturdays to learn about computers and typed in long programs from computer magazines.
That was awesome! What a trip down memory lane. Now that you showed this, it is all slowly coming back. That was my first computer too. Can’t wait to see what you will do next with that dinosaur. Congratulations to your new channel, I will definitely be watching.
What a great blast from the past..brings me back to my first at home computer, Adam computer. It actually ran on a audio casset for its programs. Liam has gotten so big and is so creative and well spoken. Josh, eventually on this channel could you show us how disney technology has evolved in the parks?
Congratulations on your new channel. Looks like the computer is still in great condition. My husband’s first PCs were a Vic 20. And Commodore 64 . He had Flight Simulator then too and still has an version on his both Apple PC. Liam , looks like he is a great assistant. Looks like your Dad is enjoying the computer too.
You remember a lot more DOS than I do! My first was a Packard Bell 8088 with a CD drive which was a big deal at the time. It came with the Encarta Encyclopedia that was ALL text no photos. But it was amazing that you could search the entire thing in seconds and find all these amazing references. XTREE was a great free program for managing your directories, might want to check that out.
Congratulations on your new channel! Can’t wait to see all the cool retro stuff you find! It was so cool to hear how excited you and Jerry were to see the old computer lol 😂
Josh, thanks for the trip back in time. We had a Tandy 1000 HX and I spent many hours playing Earl Weaver Baseball, Manhunter 2, and Carmen Sandiego. I also remember buying tablature books and using the music program to create my favorite songs. Lots of great memories. Looking forward to more great content!
I grew up way way after this tech. My first computer was a Dell with Windows XP in school. Never seen anything before Windows XP. I LOVE to see this awesome working tech from the past. Retro tech doesn't get the attention it should. Don't forget the past. It's stuff like this that got us where we are today. Looking forward to more content!
Love it... brings me back to the days of early computing. My first computer was a TI 99/4A. Spent hours coding programs... moved up to Apple IIc then onto Commodore 64, Tandy, then the big boys, IBM
Hey Josh and congrats on getting your channel up an running! I've been a fan of ResortTV1 for a while, but although I was never a big gamer, I worked for RadioShack as a computer specialist and manager for 25 years, starting in 1981. My first big computer sale was a TRS-80 Model III, selling for I believe $2499! (Imagine what that would be in 2022 dollars!) I have owned a TRS-80 CoCo, a model 1000, 3000's, a 4000 and a Packard Bell, thrown in somewhere in there. I STILL have a Coco, a VERY early laptop, the Model 100, and although not a Tandy, one of the arguably sexiest desktops ever made, the black IBM Aptiva Stealth, which still works. It sold for a whopping $3499 at the time. (RadioShack sadly slowly move to brand names, which was probably not a good move.) I would have to look around, but I have MANY of the RS catalogs for all those years, including the Computer Catalogs, that were published for a number of years. If you have a question about Tandy computers, or RadioShack, hit me up! I still remember the catalog numbers! Good Luck! Bill
That’s so cool, Bill! Wow! Radio Shack was such a magical place in the 80’s and 90’s! I would love to chat with you sometime about your experiences there sometime! Maybe even for a video interview if you’re interested! Thanks for sharing!!
Josh congrats on your new channel! This sure brings back some memories. I think we’re around the same age so I’m sure I’ll be able to relate to alot of the stuff you’ll be showing on here. Love it!

I don't remember the exact model of my first machine, but I do remember it was a big deal that I was upgrading from 4MB to 8MB of RAM! And I worked in the early-mid 90s doing hardware support, so I've seen a lot of this!!

Great start Josh! We never had a computer in the house until long after I was in college but my first exposure in school was at Eisenhower Middle School in the very early 1980s (I finished eighth grade in 1982!) Those were TRS-80s, I think Model 1 maybe? I know we had TRS-80 model 3s in high school and then went to Tandys but they were basically rebadged TRS-80s, the big cabinet with about a 10" monochrome monitor and two 5.25" floppy drives! No sound or graphics to speak of (beyond ASCII). Mom's first computer at work was a Tandy 1000, and she had a "huge" 5mb HDD, it was almost the size of a record player!!! Can't wait to see more. I need to get my techie 15 year old son to watch this, he will wig out!
Great first video Josh! Congrats on the new channel. Looking forward to seeing more of this. My first computer was a Gateway 2000, and you had me looking around to see what they go far nowadays, be cool to get one in. Keep up the good work!
I remember seeing Tandy computers in Radio Shack in the 1980's! That DeskMate sure looks powerful. I remember learning computers and BASIC Language on Apple IIe 8K comptuers! you had to know dos commands on that to do anything! It shows a lot of things you can do at the click of an option! really neat! That 3 Voice music chip is quite a catchy music maker for back then. My Commodore Vic 20, Commodore 64 and Amiga made similar musical notes! Brings back memories! I thought the Flight Simulator was really fun to watch the demo on your First Computer!
Thank you! DeskMate was more advanced than Windows at the time, and it ran in high resolution 16 color mode, which was pretty advanced for the time. I love those old sound chips as well! Thanks for watching!
My first experience with computers was with the ISC compucolor II, I think ISC (Intelligent Systems Corp) were based in GA? and the university of Orlando used to use them and there was even one at Epcot in the early days, but we had one of the few imported into the UK. In fact we still have it. Planning to replace all the electrolytics first though before we try and switch it on again. They were notoriously unreliable even when new :) As Epcot used to have one, you might want to look out for one.
It's official Tech Talk with Josh!!! Getting ready to fire up my SNES and watch along. Still have my Atari 2600 too but not sure how to hook that up to modern television. I'm hoping to see some retro games. Awesome 👌 👏 👍
@@retrotv1tech Thanks Josh!!! Can't wait to see it. I bought one of the reissue Atari consoles. It's smaller and can hook up but it's not the same as the original. I'm old school. (I did get ALL of the 5 1/4 floppy disks from then, all the neat MECC software like oregon trail, the munchers series, carmen sandiego, etc.)
Wow! That’s really cool, and yes, those IBM 5150’s were beasts! So cool! And that’s neat about the Apple II’s from your school! I wish I had gotten the 64’s and PETs from my old school.
Finally what we all have been waiting for #techtalkwithJosh. I can't wait for the first live video so we can 'geek' out. Also, I'm ready for the first BSOD.
I still have the original NES Nintendo system. My brothers and I had two Nintendo systems when we were growing up. One at our house and another one at our grandparents house. The one at our house broke but the one at our grandparents house still works so that is the one I have.
My 1st computer I used was a Commodore 64 playing Munchmath which is a math game where you answer 10 questions and you go to the next level when you are successful in answering them or if you get a question wrong 3 times, you go back a level

I still have the original NES Nintendo system. My brothers and I had two Nintendo systems when we were growing up. One at our house and another one at our grandparents house. The one at our house broke but the one at our grandparents house still works so that is the one I have.
I have that one too! I'm glad yours still works!!
Pretty impressive that it all worked.
Ever heard of a VT200? I'm really dating myself. Lol.

My 1st computer I used was a Commodore 64 playing Munchmath which is a math game where you answer 10 questions and you go to the next level when you are successful in answering them or if you get a question wrong 3 times, you go back a level
