I have always liked Achimota School, way back in high school(I went to Accra Academy). I like its serene atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and the environment and location. Kudos to what you are doing; keep up the good work.
There were 14 houses in my time. There were 8 male houses and 6 female houses. Stopford house was a boys house. McCarthy house had just been converted from a male house to a female one.
Hi I just got admitted to Achimota school. I’m a science student and the house I got is Baeta house. I hope it’s a nice house . I can’t wait to commence on Wednesday 😅
How we all managed to break one rule or the other and never got to DC will forever be a testimony 😂😂❤️ but please obey school rules. You may not be as lucky as some of us were😹😹
Masa u dey lie 😂 premepeh was established to be the Botwe of Kumasi that’s why it even commenced with Botwe students. Why do you think Mfantsipim says Prempeh is their child
Prempeh didn’t commence with Botwe students. The Presby and the Methodist church was tasked by the Asantehene to manage the new school. Rev Pearson, a tutor from Mfantsipim was brought in as the new headmaster. Every secondary school in those days organized their own common entrance exams. One common entrance exam was organized for Prempeh and Mfantsipim for students from Ashanti and elsewhere who mainly wanted to go to Mfantsipim. The successful students were assembled at Prempeh College in a queue. Mentioning 1 or 2 as they were tagged, those in group 1 were selected to go to Mfantsipim and those in group 2 went to Prempeh. Prempeh piggybacked on Mfantsipim in terms of the Methodist church because it controlled both schools to have one common entrance exams. No botwe students came from Cape Coast to become a pioneer Prempeh College student except Prof Owusu Mensah who after beginning form 1 at Mfantsipim had to follow his tutor who had been transferred to Prempeh College. Prempeh began with 50 pioneer students. In terms of relationship due to this historical fact, we see Mfantsipim as our senior brother and not a son and father relationship. They didn’t give birth to us but we have a common father, the Methodist Church.
@@samuelntiamoah9235 You are right about the British architects that were contracted to design Prempeh College. However Prempeh was not modeled after Achimota. The rain roof connecting all key buildings such that when it rains, one can move freely without being wet is unique to Prempeh. Unfortunately new buildings added to the existing structures didn’t follow this architectural design. It is stated that Prempeh was modeled after Eaton College. It has nothing to do with Asantehene coming to Achimota. The architects had their own mind. The colonial British government having established their first school as Prince of Wales College later on named Achimota may have spun off the idea of the Asantehene approaching Major Butler, the British ‘Regional Minister’ to facilitate the establishment of a school like Prempeh College. Mind you there were older schools like Okess and St Monica’s etc but Prempeh College was the first school to be ‘owned’ by the Colonial Government.
WELCOME TO ACHIMOTA SCHOOL
