Great video! You have a small typo at 17:02. The small town there is Rocheport... not Rocheford. Les Bourgeois, one of Missouri's better wineries is located there, as well. Glad you liked the Katy.
Thanks - I fixed that several times while editing the video - and my spell checking feature kept changing it to something else. I thought I had it right but ... I appreciate the careful eye and spotting this typo.

I have really enjoyed your videos. I'm already planning my trip this June. There are so many places to camp, and take it all in! Katy Trail is an exciting time.
My brother-in-law and I just rode a section of the Katy trail from Sedalia to Hermann, Mo this week (June 2024) and had the pleasure of meeting David Parris. He showed us his niffty little drone that he uses for some of the video. And about the Katy trail, he's right it is OBS. Riding the trail with all the folks from all over the country makes the ride an event everyone who can, should do. I had a heart attack 9 months ago and riding 140 miles in 3 days made me feel blessed to be alive. Thanks for the excellent video(s) and hope to meet you again some day.
@@TheCaffeinatedBible Going to show my wife your video in hopes she will go with me this year , and would be great to meet you , did you get signed up for Kokopelli this morning ? How could I get your email w/o you publishing it to everyone ? Do you have FB page ? Maybe I could DM you
Nice video. I rode the KT in October of 2017, on a catered tour. One correction: the state fair is in Sedalia, not Boonville. Might have the Cooper County fair in Boonville.
Nice trip down memory lane! Yes i was on the ride. I see your did RAGBRAI last year. So did I. My friend Tom and I both appear in the PBS video. Would love to come back and do BAM KATY again but not this year. Doing a BAM( Bike Across MN ) ride instead. See you out there and remember to keep the rubber side down
It is possible but i would bring some cash as some of the small shops only take cash. Lots of BnBs and small hotels along the trail - see Backwoods bike touring as they will shuttle your gear from hotel to hotel for you. The trail is well set up for all types of bike touring. We rode it in October of 23 and just did it this past June - new videos soon to come.
I have so many questions! I am wanting to do this ride this year, but don't know where to start. I guess my first question is, where is all your gear (tent, clothes, etc.)? What should I pack? I know lunches are on the trail, but what about diners? I live in Sedalia and have been wanting to do this ride for years! Great videos!
If this is your first ride I would suggest going with Big BAM on the KATY. They organize the trip for you and can answer all your questions. They also have different options - you can pack all your gear, have them transport your gear, have them set up a tent and put your gear in it at each camp, stay in a trailer, or go hotel to hotel. They give suggestions for where to eat for dinner and I just followed their advice and had great meals. Also I just post the first of 2 videos from our ride this June. We loved both the Octorber and June ride - one was just warmed than the other.
You and your wife need to try a Recumbent Trike Tadpole. I'm 73 and got a Catrike Dumont Trike and love it. No more neck pains, no more pains in my shoulders, wrist don't go numb, no more balance issues, I wish I had it 50 years ago. No more butt pain.

Wonderful job of showing off this amazing trail! Makes me want to ride it... again!
Why not join us this June with Big BAM. Great ride organizers.

Just awesome to see you made it to MO, looking forward to part 2

Got it
Sent you email …
I just found this. I rode the BigBAM on the Katy in June 2023. Your video sure brings back a lot of good memories.
We just rode it again (this June, 2024) and hope to get another video up soon.
I remember you from the 2024 BAM ride - I had lunch with you at the crowded little tavern in Portland, MO.
Hey that is so cool. I think I remember you as well. (Had to cheat and look at the video). Hope the video lived up to your memory of the ride.

Thanks. And I stand corrected - we even saw the fair grounds and I still didn’t make the connection.

Wow. So great to hear that you loved the ride also. We have the other BAM on our bucket list as well.
Is it possible to "credit card" the Katy trail. What month did you ride the Katy?

Yep, plenty of BnB's and hotels.
Doing this trail in May 2024! KC to Machens. Using Rock Island Trail from KC to Windsor then the Katy.❤😂
You will love it. Let me know how it goes or if you do a video of your ride.
@@TheCaffeinatedBible Yes! I did Erie Canalway trail also GAP/C&O last year . All were great.

Has anyone made a trail from St. Louis to Cape Girardeau??
What bikes are you and your wife riding
She is on a Trek sort of gravel bike - we have modified it over the years. I’m on an Ibis Hakka.
