HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY Gladys
The first time I heard the Ashford & Simpson instrumental version I literally played it non stop 5 or 6 times, Its one of the best things I have ever heard in the whole 41 years of my life.
Is there a version where Ashford & Simpson sing? I only see instrumentals.

@Bruhman420 Oh, I do know it. Although, I have a soft spot for Venice Beach. The song has some Acid Jazz influences. It hits the spot every time I hear it. I like his little flamenco touches.
I was always a fan of Ronny Jordan. He makes jazz a little sexy. My favorites are, The Jackal, No Pay No Play, and Come With Me.
Wow, I just discovered this version myself. The only version I knew of was Ashford & Simpson when I was about 10 years old and have loved that version to this day. This was a great find. I'm finding out there were a lot of songs back then that were shared by different well known artists, they would just put a different spin on their version. But also, Ashford & Simpson did a lot of writing back then for different artists. The things you discover on UA-cam....👍🏽
@@gerardmcmillan8591, I'm not sure if you remember their original composition Over & Over. It had very little notice until Sylvester did his epic version in 1977. Have a listen to the Ashford & Simpson version, then compare it to Sylvester's almost 10-minute thumping gospel stomp.

When I watch the Ashford & Simpson "Bourgie Bourgie" video, it's so beautiful. The skyview of Manhattan along with Ashford & Simpson's wonderful instrumental is truly a work of art, a magnificent masterpiece.
This song came on when i was drunk at a nightclub at 3am and it just hit different. I loved that night. The rest is history.

This has to be one of my all time favorite songs. It's an EDM prototype as I've heard this remixed several times. Also, the Pips never get much recognition, but they had amazing dance moves (if you watch their feet).
